    Hi,

    I see a (very) similar request on the buddypress forum. It also seems that BuddyPress updated some days ago (March 2, 2016). Do you think you have these issues since that upgrade ?

    Pascal.

    Hello,

    I installed the latest version of bbpress (2.5.8) and the latest version of WP (4.4.2) and since I installed bbpress any time I try to view or access the forums I get a 404 error. I am using the Postname permalinks and have made sure they are updated. Also I have disabled all other plugins to make sure that they are not the issue.

    The link to the forums is here.

    I have updated the permalinks and tried everything that I can think of to clear the issue and am not sure what the issue might be.

    Hi All–

    I know this issue has been covered a dozen times, but I can’t seem to find an appropriate answer as it’s always been resolved by running an update.

    Whenever a reply is posted on our site, it fails to appear. We ARE using a custom theme, so I suspect that this is likely the root of the problem. However, if someone can help point more towards WHAT we should be including in our themes to make sure that the replies display, I’d be grateful.

    Here’s a link to a topic page where the replies do not show:
    https://www.mta.org/forums/topic/cmt-level-1-exam-ethics/

    Thus far, I’ve already:
    – Updated to the latest WordPress
    – Updated to the latest BuddyPress
    – Ran a repair on the tables
    – Changed to a default theme to confirm it’s a theme issue

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    Is it safe to use this plugin which is not updated for 3 years (!)?

    I search a way to restrict all bbpress (forums, pages, uploads) to members only. Is there another plugin or functions to do that ?

    Thanks.

    but yes as Pascal says, you do need to list the forums that you want to include

    and I have just updated the plugin for a technical error which should not affect you, but you may want to load the latest version from my site

    Hahaha tags “sleeping pill store” tag should be a signal that someone is asleep at the tiller. Really folks, this place is asleep, and all Robin W. does is state that it is free software and you should be durned grateful, and not try and wake anybody up.

    Development is tediously slow, regardless of some $50k that was raised a few years ago. 2.6 should supposedly fix the issue with not being able to replace posts with forum discussions. Surely that is also why the plugin that actual does that hasn’t been updated in two years. And 2.6 was 4 months late in May 2014. So when will it ever be released?

    This is simply too long! Obviously this project is coasting on the coattails of integration (and requirement of use) in BuddyPress and that it is an anointed project of WordPress.org. Anything less would have near zero users already.

    So much functionality is needed to be reasonable. There appears to be a single active developer committing to the code: https://www.openhub.net/p/bbpress/commits/summary

    But really, this was a complaint over a year and a half ago, and it ain’t changed. Very sad as the potential is quite big. How else do you explain 16,000+ downloads of that plugin that has been abandoned: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-post-topics/

    Hi,

    I did a test post on my forum then deleted it; however, it has not updated on the counter, so instead of saying there is no topics it’s still saying one topic/one user.

    Is there a way to fix this?

    Thanks

    Still not working.

    Before my first post I did try those two steps (I was paying attention and did read the “Before posting” post at the top of the page).

    But I did try again. I deactivated all but bbpress. When I attempted to change the theme to twentyfifteen I discovered that I didn’t have the most up to date version of WordPress, so I updated it. I now have all but bbpress deactivated and the twentyfifteen theme installed, and still no luck with the forums.

    I appreciate all your help. Any more ideas?

    It’s been a while but looks like nobody has done anything yet, so it’s time to start…
    I’ve created a repository for this issue: https://github.com/NeoID/bbpress-converters-drupal6

    All tables have been updated to work with Drupal 6/Advanced forum 6.x, but for some reason it’s stuck on “Starting Conversion…”. Any ideas would be appreciated!

    So, I’m thinking of using bbPress for a forum I’m about to create. But, the more I read on this forum, the closer I get to the conclusion that bbPress is a dead project and should be buried. I’m writing this because I want to know if it really is as bad as it seems and in that case, why?!

    So, I want my guest users to have the option to start forum threads and answer to topics, so far so good (but that’s about it). I also want the guest users (non logged in users) to be able to “quote” previous answers – a very basic forum function that is still not included in the most recent bbPress release?! I have searched this forum for answers about a quote function and as far as I can see it was promised to be a feature in the upcoming versions ABOUT 3½ YEARS AGO?! I’ve tried 3 plug ins to accomplish this without success. The Quote feature shows up if I’m logged in as admin, but not for guests. Same results for all the plug ins I’ve tried. Why is this not a standard feature yet?!

    Another thing discussed here is the permalink function, the option to use wildcards to control how the forum permalink structure looks. There’s even a fantastic request about how this feature is supposed to work here: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2258 The priority is set as “low” though this is a critical and very useful feature?! Nothing has happened. WHY?!

    It seems that this is the same for all requests for new features on this forum. A lot of users are asking the developers for the most basic functions any forum on the net should have, but 2, 3 even 4 years later, nothing has happened. Again, as far as I can see, this laziness and ignorance showed by the developers is always defended by a phrase that goes something like “bbPress is a basic forum and you can expend it to your hearts content with plug ins!” but that is not the case. There are so few plug ins for bbPress, and even fewer good ones that is currently being updated on a regular basis.

    So, what the f*ck is going on with bbPress? Is there any point in considering bbPress when creating a forum with more >10 users? Why is notning happening?! Also, how would I go about fixing the Quote function problem. “Quote option” isn’t showing to any guest with any plug in.

    Hello @peterwsterling

    Is this plug in still being updated? I have updated bbpress and now voting on a poll has no effect.

    Hi Stephen,

    Thanks for the updates. I have updated my BBPress to bbPress 2.6-alpha.

    Now, I have again started the import using BBPress tools and now my script is importing the data again, But it will taking the duplicate data from the Xenforo. I hope this version can import all my Xenforo data to BBPress. But still I have more questions about the import.

    1) In my Xenforo having total 62,65,110 replies and tool has imported only 66,100 records only. so bbPress 2.6-alpha version are able to import all pending 61,99,010 data from the Xenforo?

    2) Could you please share your thoughts for how to remove duplication data? Is there any good solutions? For duplicate data reports/ screenshot We will come back after my client permission.

    Thanks for updating me about 2.6. Pity you have to do work again, only because main broke it!

    Regarding push, I was told that dev is not pushed out to the users, only stable, and I only updated dev. So no wonder why dev is not pushed.

    Hi,

    in the Codex, it says that the automatic loading of locales should begin when they are at 100%. However, the German locale has not been updated in my installation since three days, that is the current date of the files in my webspace. Even though I approved strings in Glotpress every day since then.

    Do you know if there is some “push” mechanism? Because WP-Members always gets updated at night (UTC) after I edited some strings. Or maybe bbpress needs to pull translations, but it does not do so, sufficiently?

    Thanks for the feedback Robkk.

    I am experiencing this issue within BuddyPress. It is only when I attempt to upload a profile image for the member in the Change Profile Photo.

    I have a php.ini file in the main directory that has the following settings –

    memory_limit = 256M;
    max_execution_time = 180;
    upload_max_filesize = 20M;
    post_max_size = 20M;
    max_input_vars = 3000;

    I have also set the wp-config file with this setting –

    define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’ );

    Updating these files with these memory increases has not solved the BuddyPress Upload Failed! issue.

    Is there a configuration file in BuddyPress that needs to be updated or changed?

    Uploading images within WordPress’s media directory works great.

    Buddypress is the only place where I am experiencing the upload fail error

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/changelog/

    But version number is still listed as 2.5.8

    BBPress Blog indicates 2.5.8 came out July 13th, 2015.

    Why is this?

    OK, so it looks like the request is for member views, which means logged in users. That is much easier to identify.

    The problem is that this is a fairly niche case, it’s unlikely that many users of this plugin want a count of members only.

    I could add it is an option but then the plugin isn’t really “simple” any more. Let me have a think about it 🙂

    @devyncjohnson
    That’s a great idea by the way. I like the idea of a little panel on the main dashboard with a few stats. Let me have a think about this.

    The plugin hasn’t been updated because it hasn’t really needed any changes, as far as I know it still works and the idea is to keep it simple. But some admin stats is a neat idea. I love the idea of core bbPress having view counts but bbPress development has ground to a halt, which is disappointing especially after a bunch of us stumped up some cash to support the further development of bbPress.

    I have just posted in trouble shooting a similar thing, I cannot get into the replies section, the rest seems to work fine, it may be a coincidence that my theme (avada) updated. I am waiting a reply from them

    I was thinking of deactivating BB then reactivating, if i do this do I lose my current forum content?

    Not sure if a fresh version will work, but most probably something got updated somewhere. If the theme is causing this, I would advise to drop a support call towards the theme authors.

    Updated to WP 4.4 and sub forums are no longer accessible, getting the Ooops….message

    Tried deactivating all plugins, using a default template and still get the same error.

    IF I go into dashboard I can actually get to the topics from the backend, but its of no use to my site members

    Have asked for my hosting company to reinstall a backup from last 24 hours as my backup failed

    MODERATOR EDIT :

    There is a SUMMARY of this issue and what to do at the end of this thread (or near it) – to save newcomers having to read the whole thread
