If you are using 2.6.1 then the fix is in there. The message is from the buddypress plugin that doesn’t know what version of bbpress you are using, so just puts that message up !
Do you actually have an issue other than seeing this message?

btw – I am just a user of bbpress who has written some extension plugins, so have no drum to bang. bbpress has over 300,000 active installations, but it is designed as ‘lite’ software, that others can easily hook extensions into. The documentation isn’t what it should be – I have written large parts of it since I started using it, but it could still be much better.
As such it doesn’t suit everyone, but hope having come this far you’ll give it a try.
There are 1/2 dozen of us who try and help here, but we tend to do stints in between other stuff, and it’s august and many people are on holiday I suspect.
thanks for the plugin info, installed it and it looks interesting… however the breadcrumb section doesn’t do what i want…. i want the main forum page, the page you land on when you click the forum link in the navbar, to read “index” not “forums”, the plugin will change the breadcrumb to “index” but not main forum page title…this seems like such an easy task, for example in phpbb it’s a snap… i googled it and came up with folks asking about the same thing here over 4 years ago, and they solved it having to manually edit php files… 4 years later and no easy dashboard option for this?
btw is bbpress still an active/popular plugin? it seems that you’re the only one around trying to field questions… and i appreciate it…

thanks robin… yes i would really like to sort this thing out, to have my phpbb usernames associated with their posts, the posts that were imported using bbpress, instead of “anonymous” showing as the poster for every single post… in fact i can’t find any evidence that usernames were transferred at all, pretty disappointing…

I am trying to import a massive phpBB3 forum to bbPress.
When I say massive I mean 89k+ users, 72k+ topics and 1M+ posts.
I’ve followed the instructions in the troubleshooting section, but nothing really seems to work.
I fill out the form in the Tools section, and start it, and the “Starting Conversion” spinner begins, but nothing ever happens.
Can someone help?
I have users who are having problems accessing the bbPress forums I have set up on their site. The original email that went out to them seems to have a bad link for them to reset their password.
I am directing them to a page that has the [bbp-lost-pass] widget in a column where they can enter their username or email address to reset their password.

When this form is submitted, why does the browser reload a Forum page? The page below is displaying after a user submits this form and it is confusing people.

That is due to the theme ? I have other default theme installed , but not active . When I created a subdomain and there bbPress plugin set to the default theme , it works . I is a musical nature theme called Replay.

I’m using bbPress 2.6-alpha on one site and I was wandering what was a recommended way of keeping that installation up to date with the latest 2.6 code? WP doesn’t report any updates but I guess important updates are made on code and they end up in that ZIP on Download page, right?
I installed bbPress plugin and I for some reason is not working plugin . When the participant clicks the button , the button does not respond . Why is that? I temporarily cut off all plugins . I reinstall the plug . The plug-in editor writes that the inactive files . Please help to resolve this issue !

thanks for the replies… i’ve purchased and installed the “socialize” theme that seems to be designed to work well with bbpress and buddypress, so far i’m having fun playing with the endless options, albeit there certainly is a learning curve to the whole wp/bbpress/buddypress/theme thing…
i have a quick question tho about the url paths, the slugs i think they’re called…
1. when i navigate to the forum section using the home page forum link i see this in the address bar:

and when i click on a topic in the forum list is see:

why does “forum” show after “forums” in the second example? why not:

In the dashboard page it displayed this message that how i find out about it. So appearently 2.6.1.1 doesn’t have it, otherwise this message link wouldn’t displayed on admin page?

I even opened the notifications.php in notepad and even did a search for “else return $action;” , looked from top to bottom many times, no phase like that?
Not sure if I have to change the whole bunch of code or what from the 5512 link above.

You shouldn’t need to download the .po or .mo files anymore
You should be able to change your WordPress install language to Spanish and WordPress will automatically download the WordPress translations for you, this will also include the latest bbPress translations and any other theme or plugin that has Spanish translations.
1. the info in the red box looks odd, “index” is the name of the parent directory/forum, don’t want the name “index” to appear in this area, also “anonymous” (given usernames weren’t transferred) should appear in this area, no? after “by”?
2. here you can see that “anonymous” has been entered for all members rather than their actual member names, how do i fix this? also, is there a way to get the same info below the avatar that shows in this forum, the bbpress forum, to show in my forum? is this a plugin? and finally, how do i move the post date from a row above the topic to below the avatar? thanks.

I put this ( else return $action; ) very end/bottom of that page, also I realized there’s NO ?> at the end, so I added this ?> in and getting a WHITE PAGE? Can you tell me what am I doing wrong?
Anyhow, it say put the ” else return $action; ” at the end of the function? There are many functions, but which one or line btw? Help!

Hi everyone,
I have installed bbpress and download the es_ES translation for spanish.
The weird situation i’m experiencing is as follows:
1. In my main forum page i can see the following translations for “Forum/topic/entries/freshness”
“FORO TEMAS ENTRADAS REFRESCAR”
2. When i click on a main topic the translations are “DEBATE USUARIOS PUBLICAR ÚLTIMO MENSAJE”
I have downloaded the file bbpress-es_ES.po and nowhere is the word “REFRESCAR” which is not a proper translation of “freshness” I’ve search also for “freshness” and i can’t find that word as well…
Does anyone know if there’s any other .po file that needs to be translated? I’m doing something wrong? This is driving me crazy hehe

1. phpbb import seemed to go ok, as did the repair process, all of my phpbb forums appear correctly and so do topics and posts… however no usernames seemed to make the journey, every posts shows “anonymous” as the poster… what can i do to fix this?
2. read about the lack of avatar migration support, so what’s the best way to add the same user avatars that were used at the phpbb board, i’m guessing this is a manual process, and if so what are the steps?
