I have a forum where I reverse the reply order to get the most recent reply on top.
I used to use bbp-toolkit for this, but since that is no longer updated and has a security vulnerability, I now use bbp style pack for this.
One difference I see however is that it always shows the first post of the topic on top. That makes sense, but in my case I’d rather not have this.
Is there an option to not show that first post?
Disable the “Forum Root Slug” option in WordPress admin:
Go to “Settings” → “Permalinks” in the WordPress admin area.
Locate the “Forum Root Slug” option and remove its value or set it to an empty field.
Save the changes.
Update the permalink structure:
After removing the “Forum Root Slug” value, click the “Save Changes” button in the “Settings” → “Permalinks” section.
This action refreshes the permalink structure and updates the URLs.
Update rewrite rules (if necessary):
If you experience URL routing issues or encounter 404 errors, you may need to update the rewrite rules.
Go to “Settings” → “Permalinks” again and click the “Save Changes” button.
This step regenerates the rewrite rules and resolves any potential conflicts.
Update links and references:
Check internal links, navigation menus, or any references to the forum pages.
Make sure they are updated to reflect the new URLs without the “/forum” slug.
Hi!
I am wanting to be able to approve posts and comments before they get added to the forum. I’d like to get an email > approve or not > have the user updated on whether or not their post/comment has been approved.
I see all over that the Moderator plugin is no longer available for bbPress.
**Does anyone have any recommendations for alternative options for forum post/comment moderation & approval?**
When I add a new topic to my forum the cache does not clear when forum or topic updated. It looks like bbPress is not sending the API Call for WordPress to clear cache after a Topic has been updated.
Any advice?
I did have but I deleted the only entity that was a keymaster because there was one listed which didn’t make the forum appear, I was under the impression that it was the wrong selection as I had updated the website to a different domain and the old keymaster was the main administrator of the previous domain and I felt that if I deleted that entity the keymaster would automatically reassign to the only administrator for the site, but that obviously didn’t happen.
Hi,
I’m trying to find a way to export and then import my forum
about 120k subjects and about 1 244K replies.
We also need to be sure that accounts are imported and correctly linked to replies.
I saw a git project which is not anymore updated for 6 years, and linked to wp-cli/bbpress package that doesn’t exist anymore.
Do you have any solutions to solve this ?
I’m running 6.2 it was just updated from the previous version. Also, posting and replying are both running slow. As I said before we have visitors trying to reply or post and they are clicking the submit button multiple time.
I know this is an older thread and the plugin mentioned has not been updated in 5 years. Does it still work now?
I have another member who passed and I am in a similar situation and she had almost 200 subscriptions.
Hi @robin-w,
Has this feature been changed/removed in your plugin?
I’ve just updated to the latest version and I can’t seem to find it.
I’ve just come across this same issue, where if I navigate to “View Latest Topics” (https://snipboard.io/wTzMvL.jpg)
it loads and reloads additional versions of the content infinitely until the browser runs out of ram.
https://homesteadacademy.com/forums/view/latest-topics/
I have tried the snippet you kindly provided in the “code snippet” plugin but no luck.
Any advice for me?
thanks, do keep us updated.
as this is a commercial theme, I do not have access to it, but agree it would be good to have it fully working with bbpress
Is there any chance that BBPress will be updated to support Gutenberg blocks. The classic editor is really outdated and the designing of pages with blocks is the more logical step moving forward.
Thanks
I see bbpress hasn’t been updated for over a year.
How come?
This seems weird, I am new to wordpress, bbPress is always referred to best forum plugin but the lack of recent updates ring alarm bells or am I wrong here?
Thank you, Robin.
Based on the two plugins you recommended, and my reading of their documentation, what we need is something similar to bbpress digest. I installed both and bbpress notify does what it says, but users have no control over their notifications. For bbpress digest it did not do anything other than modify the admin menus. I tried changing switches but nothing seemed to change. Not surprising as it hasn’t been updated in years.
Regards,
Tim
I started getting this error after I upgraded to PHP 8.1. It prevents login, so this is a problematic error. BBPress is trying to setup a new login object and in the process wants to destroy any existing login object. Because BBPress doesn’t actually have a __destruct method php8.1 throws an error. I commented out that block of code and everything seems to work correctly. Of course that is a temporary fix that will be overwritten as soon as the plugin is updated.
I don’t have Jetpack installed on this server so it is not the culprit.
Having imported thousands of topics from another system the topic count was incorrect for one of my forums.
I tried the Repair Forums tool to correct this but it made no difference.
I then edited the postmeta table for the relevant forum setting _bbp_topic_count and _bbp_total_topic_count to the correct topic number. This worked in that the forum then showed the correct number.
However, when I then deleted a post (which had been a test topic) the number went back down to only counting those that were actually added rather than those imported.
So the numbering system is clearly more complex than I thought.
Can anyone advise how to get the right number to be there and be updated correctly?
Okay, I figured it out: turns out the default forum home page uses whatever you’ve defined for Posts Archive, at least if you’re using Elementor, like I am.
So I updated my links to refer to the forums target, edited the Posts Archive template in Elementor to include the forum index short code, and everything appears to work.
I also changed the Elementor display conditions for the template and restricted it to just Forum Archive (or Forum Posts, I don’t remember offhand), just in case I want to define a different template for other Posts Archives later on.
I more suspect that it is related to upgraded versions of wordpress or php and that bbPress Multi Image Uploader has not been updated for several years.
In my forum, participants are often posting pictures. I have been using “bbPress Multi Image Uploader” to allow them to upload images in a simple manner.
Members are required to resize their images to 600×600 pixels and when it is uploaded with the plugin, the image is smaller in the post, but by clicking on it, it displays “full size”. However, in the last weeks or so, I notice that the popped up images are not as big as they used to be. However, if you right-click and open in a new tab, it does show the expected size.
I know that “bbPress Multi Image Uploader” has not been updated in a while, but otherwise, it still works fine. Any idea what might have changed for the display to be different now?
I have bbpress 2.6.9.
Here is an example where you can click on any image in the thread and compare with “open in a new tab”: https://scrapbookcampus.com/Community/topic/january-theme-challenge-celebrations/
Thank you
I moved a topic to the correct forum area but the totals of the number of topics and replies did not update…forum moved from still says 2 and 2…forum moved to did not add 1 to topic or 1 to replies?
Topic was moved from Forum Rules to Kayak Fishing in the link below

6.1 is quite a major release – I just updated my test site to it, and worpress doesn’t like my twenty ten theme menus anymore 🙁
Personally, I’d wait until 6.1.1 is released before updating a live site.
I’ll take a look at the toolkit plugin with 6.1 when I get a moment
I suspect 6.1 will break lots of things – I’ve have updated my test site and wordpress doesn’t like the menus I have with a twenty ten theme 🙂
I’d suggest you wait for 6.1.1 to see if they bug fix things.
Hello
wordpress 6.1
bbpress 2.6.9
I have been using the ‘bbpress toolkit’ link to manage member/poster subscriptions to the forum as well as to the individual topics.
Today when i try to upgrade wordpress from 6 to 6.1 my site broke and i lost access to it ven through cPanel and the hosting providers clinet log in dashboard. After hours of troubleshooting found out the above mentioned plugin which hasn’t been updated in 5 years is causing the site to break. Once the plugin is disabled the site updates fine and works just as it was before.
My question is, are there any other plugins that i can use to manage member subscriptions to threads and posts? It is not a paid website but it is a member only website and the primary concern is to unsubscribe members who are no longer welcomed from getting any notifications or copies of posts/replies.
Thank you.
Very, very old topic – but still relevant today. This topic is searchable in google, so I’m not creating another one 😉
The above code does unfortunately not work anymore.
Do you have an updated code for removing the pipepline between favorite | subscribe ?
And if you don’t – how do you actually find what to use. I’m trying to learn, but I don’t know what to look for..
I tried the code on a test site and it appeared to work.
I updated the Track ticket.
