Yeah it is not really Jetpack’s issue at all. Since I see this topic, it seems like your issue is resolved now.

    Hi,

I am pretty sure that is a theme error. The wp bug show this:

Notice: bbp_setup_current_user was called incorrectly. The current user is being initialized without using $wp->init(). Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 2.3.) in /home/public_html/fakedomain.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3622

Do you have any idea what is it?

I contacted the author, but he doesnt know how to solve yet.

    Regards,

and whether they can respond to the posts via e-mail?

bbPress cannot do this by default, you may need a plugin for this. I think their is one in the WordPress repository called bbPress bbPress post by email. It needs to be hooked up with an SMTP service though.

On my menu on wordpress I am getting link.com/forum-4/ and I cant remove the “-4”?

Well you created a page called forum 3 other times that is why it adds the -4 to the end.

If you are creating a “forum page”, know that you really do not have to do this. Just go to /forums or whatever the forum root slug is set in your forum settings in Settings > Forums.

I’m getting the same error on bbpress with some forums.

Are you naming a forum, “forum”??

Also, where is the function for users to register and their profiles?

Since your using the bbPress plugin, you register through WordPress login and register forms. bbPress has some shortcodes you can place in a page, and they will redirect you to the default WordPress forms since they aren’t really dedicated forms.

Profiles should be present if users click their name on the bbPress login widget, the author link in their posts, or you can add a custom menu item using a function in this guide.

Layout and functionality – Examples you can use

How to remove Title prefixes ‘Topic:’ and ‘Forum:’?

I can see these tickets :

    https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1764
    &
    https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5018

are discussing the issue but I don’t know how to use them.

Do I upload the files attached in the topics as plugins? Or do I paste the code from the files in functions.php of my child theme?

    Kindly help

    Thank you

Here is my forum page: http://www.sdusdpreptimeteachers.com/discussion/

This is a brand new installation of both WP and bbPress, and not much up on the page so far, and certainly no discussion as of now.

I have bullets in front of everything in the forum and my formatting is thrown off, most likely because of the bullets.

I know that this is an issue with my theme that I created in Artisteer, as this did not happen with the free themes from WordPress.org. That being said, I am not sold on this theme – was just trying to get something up – but will definitely be creating my own rather than using TwentyThirteen or other similar theme.

What do I need to look for to change this and where?

I did search this issue and only found one post from over 2 years ago and tried to solve that way with no success.

Please help me with this issue. I have to take the site public this week and I still don’t see a way to get WordPress to assign the forum roles. I have the bbpress forum settings set to: “Auto role: Automatically give registered visitors the participant forum role.”

WordPress is not seeing this. When a new user signs up they just get the WordPress subscriber role and no forum role.

    Please help.

    Thanks,

    Andy

MIght not be a Jetpack thing, but if your users do sign in with their wordpress.com account through the single sign on, they do not need a password, they just keep pressing the single sign on button.

Since it is mailpoet, then that does not use an external service if I remember correctly. So no problem with your host sending emails.

You can check right now to see if I am visible in your users section in Users > All Users, just search “deleteme”. See if you can see an approve link or something similar by user in the list.

You can also try to create an account with a separate email that you have currently for your site, with only Jetpack and bbPress activated first, and see if you get your email with your login information. I found the newsletter email in my spam folder, you may need to check there for the login information email.

What is your forum user role?? Check it in Users > All Users in the WordPress backend, search your name to find yourself, or just use the above filters to see only Admin users.

    Are you running multisite??

    Hi,
yes, I strongly believe that the mentioned behavior (which I confirm: 3 replies were added early today and they are not counted) was caused by some updates. However, how can I find which update caused it? Everytime an update is available I install it. Is wordpress keeping a log with activities as updates?
One small detail: the freshness is updated when you re-load the page, in the sense that the code is considering the current time. But the freshness is not taking into account the last replies (like if no new reply was added).
It seems that the reply is not triggering the functions that are updating counters: anyone has an idea on how this is implemented? So we could search for the cause…
One detail more: I’m also using the “Orbisius bbPress Notify Me On Follow Up Replies” plugin and it also stopped sending emails when a new reply is added.
    Thanks!

Did you set up your Timezone in Settings > General in the WordPress backend??

    Hello

The freshness time (2 hours ago) IS accurate but when I go into a post and see the post and replys, all times listed are off by 8 hours not reflecting my timezone. I’m in Pacific time / San Francisco. Is there a fix for this?

I’m still getting the site built but see:
    https://www.myacim.com/community/topic/why-would-i-say-nothing-means-anything/

    I am:
    WordPress 4.3.1
    bbpress 2.5.8
I have switched to theme 2013 and the problem still exists.

Also, I’m not a programmer so if the fix requires code I’ll need you to tell me where to stick it. (I can access files through cpanel file manager)

Thank you so much in advance for your help community!

While I’m waiting for 2.6 to release so I can import my phpBB 3.1.x (unless someone can point to an easy-to-understand explanation of how to force an import), I have a couple of questions about possibly starting the forum and later importing.

If I were to create a forum with BBPress, set it up and start running it. Could I later import everything from phpBB and have them merge successfully? Or is there a way to merge two existing versions of BBPress so that if I imported phpBB later into a separate installation I could then just combine them?

In these cases, or even in a regular import, is it possible to successfully merge to IDs (say they’ve registered with WordPress already and also the forum separately, can these two accounts be merged).

For anyone interested this is the fix

This is actually a bbPress issue with the singular.php template which was introduced in WordPress 4.3 but bbPress doesn’t support it yet. It looks like it has been fixed in core already – https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5950 – but the update hasn’t been released yet.

If you add the following code to the top of your index.php for your theme it will provide a temp fix:

// bbPress fix while they update things…
    if ( function_exists( ‘is_bbpress’ ) && is_bbpress() ) {
    get_template_part( ‘singular’ );
    return;
    }

Thanks for the prompt reply robkk.

Please find enclosed a link for the test Website:
    http://totius.tk/

When I activate Mona Lisa, the BBPress Forum disappears. You only see the link in the navigation bar, but it isn’t linked any more. When you click on it it is dead. Then when I deactivate the Mona Lisa plugin, the Forum is back again.

I first started with a stand alone BBPress Forum, i.e. one directly loaded from the BBPress Website, as I wanted to experiment to see how good it is. There are the three plugins that come loaded with the site. But when I try to load any of the other plugins they won’t install. I.e. I would upload them to the plugins folder through cPanel, they do show, but when I click on them, there is an error message that comes up.

Then next I tried BBPress with WordPress – i.e. I started from scratch with a WordPress site and loaded it as a plugin as per the totius.tk example. I was able to download and install the Monalisa plugin, but when I activate it, the BBPress forum disappears. The blog part however is active. Only the forum is disabled.

So yes, there has to be a conflict between BBPress and the Mona Lisa plugin.

By the way, this is what my WordPress (up to date version) dashboard Settings/Writing looks like. You mention

while having TinyMCE activated, and the default toolbar editor tab is the HTML one

Where do I activate TinyMCE and find the default toolbar editor in WordPress? Or are you talking about BBPress Dashboard?

It does work with bbPress and how its default quicktags editor though.

As previously mentioned it didn’t work with a freshly installed bbPress Website. I had nothing else installed except the bbPress Forum. The enclosed totius.tk however is now a plugin.

Is there anything I could have done when it was a bbpress stand alone for the plugin to have been able to be installed?

I Have a site with about 2 million posts (topic+replies total), have seen errors like theese before.

Your problem is not with bbpress, but with wordpress in general.

Turn on your mysql-slow log and see what query is causing the problem.

Probably you’ll see SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS listed there.

I’m still looking into this, but haven’t had the time to start coding on it. The main reason for that may be that I’m still not sure whether BuddyPress/bbpress is a good choice or not. I really don’t like WordPress for some reasons, but in some ways it’s a nice starting point when it comes to building a more social community…

Anyway, would love to participate on this as I might end up using this in the near future. I’ll also look into supporting Pollfield as I’m using polls quite often on the forum.

    1. and 2.
You might want to create a standard WordPress page called ‘forums’ and give it the http://raquiia.com/gaming/forums/ URL. In that way you override the default page.
Then use shortcode for your chat, the [bbp-forum-index] shortcode and the shortcode for your statistics. (see shortcodes: https://codex.bbpress.org/features/shortcodes/ )

For 3. at lot can be done, but I have the impression you want to heavily customize, so if you want to do your own coding you could create a child theme and put copies there of the main bbPress files and start modifying them.

Then of course hundreds of plugins already exist. If you want to do something specific, just open another support request here and we will try to guide you.

    Enjoy bbPress !
    Pascal.

    Hi,

i just installed bbpress to my wordpress website. www raquiia com/gaming.

I was using inboard since long time but yet, i think it’s more convenience to use bbpress with my wordpress website and different plugins.

So i would like to configure it.

The basic installation looks correct, its work without bug (or i didn’t find yet), but i would like to customize it.

First i would like to add a chat on the forum page : www raquiia com/gaming/forums/
So, between the header with the image and title and the Forum i would like this: wordpress plugin : simple-ajax-chat
or an other chat i don’t really care.

i’ll keep the sidebar on right.

Bottom of the forum i would like a better statistic. So i found this : wordpress plugin : bbpress-improved-statistics-users-online

For both it’s look simple to install, just have to write the shortcode on the forum page. But unfortunnally i can’t find where is this page …

After fix that, i’ll try to make the forum more clear and nice to read.
It’s hard to find nice and clear bbpress (i mean in my opinion), i found one example : http://themes.momizat.com/?theme=multinews (go to community -> Forum)

A forum like this after add the chat and the statistic can be alright. Even better if i also can add image for each sub category.

To explain, on this example they have General main category
Then they have sub category :- getting started
    – off topic
    – Funstuff
Can i add an image before each sub category ?

i think, i have to modify my template to get what i want. i just don’t know where and how …

    To summary i want :

1 : Add a chat (doesn’t matter which one) on top of the forum
2 : Add better statistic bot of my forum
3 : Change the design of the forum part (category …)

If somebody can answer me it will be very helpful to open this website asap.

    Thanks you by advance

    Louis

    Hi,
Just create a normal WordPress page and add the shortcode [bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id]
    See: https://codex.bbpress.org/features/shortcodes/
    Pascal.
