Forum Index (does same thing when using shortcodes), Child Forum, and Topics:
    Lost Header

After upgrading to 2.6 RC 7, and doing forum repairs, I lost the header, categories and formatting for my forum index and child forums. The topics work just fine still.

To troubleshoot, I deactivated all plugins, removed bbPress, activated the default 17 theme, and removed my primary theme. If I re-install/activate bbpress, the index and children headers then show up, albeit without the default styling.

So I reinstalled my theme (which has native bbpress/buddypress support built in), re-activated bbpress, and the headers/categories/formatting disappeared again.

I wanted to think it was a css issue, but I had re-installed everything fresh. So it appears something corrupted my database, tied specifically to my theme. Any recommendations for how to “fix” the repairs and undo the damage?

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to fix this without a wholesale home home directory and sql db restoral. But I’d lose WEEKS of edits and css customization. Ughh

    Thank you in advance!!

It could be a theme or plugin issue

    Themes

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

    Plugins

If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Then come back

Hello, are you planning to add more options to bbpress? Currently, nothing can be set on the forum, disable things that are unnecessary, change the appearance without hundreds of additions and how well it would be in the package as in other forums. Very turdno something to do with this forum

Hello and thanks in advance for the help. I am new to bbpress.

I have been looking for a way to arrange my bbpress page to look like the https://bbpress.org/forums/

With a short description of each forum on the left hand column and the list of recent topics on the right.

Is this done with shortcodes or css or will it require development? if it is shortcodes, can someone share them with me?

    Thanks!

Hello, we’re using bbPress Version 2.5.14 on WordPress 5.2.2, on our site https://lightstalking.us/.

Recently, we decided to move the part of our website to a new server (only forums actually) to increase the speed and we need to copy SQL tables with forum database from one server to another.

Can I get the list of all the tables I need to copy in order to successfully get all the forum posts from one server to another?

    Thank you,
    Light Stalking Team

Have you integrated both bbpress and buddypress? If not, then please go to https://wisdmlabs.com/blog/integrating-buddypress-bbpress-forums-right-way/ and study the ways to integrate them. Once you did it, you can see the updates you made in your bbpress profile reflecting in your profile on buddypress. Try it, and let me know if the problem gets resolved.

As the admin, I was able to create a forum, then some topics and one reply. However, once I login under a different user with the role of “participant” or “moderator”, none of the topics display for that forum. I get the following messages on the returned forum screen:

“This forum contains 4 topics and 1 reply, and was last updated by Earl Sneeringer 2 weeks, 3 days ago.

Oh bother! No topics were found here!”

How is it that I see that I have 4 topics and 1 reply but it doesn’t display this or a participant or moderator?

My WP version is: 5.2.2 and my bbpress version is 2.8.1, my site is howardcountypickleball.org. The forum is under the Members menu item which is restricted to joined members.

Hello, I am not developer or software guy but I managed to get pretty far with my new project website

I would like to make the bbpress forum fonts larger and darker and figure out why the search is not working.

I searched some of the solutions but I think the solutions are beyond me so am looking to pay someone (bbpress expert) to make my forum look awesome.

I would prefer to do this outside of this forum. Can you private message me…or do I need to put my email address in a follow up post?

    Thanks,

Hi to everybody, I’d like some hints over a very hard job.

    I’m making a RPG forum:

before replying to a topic, the user must choose “Dialog” or “Description”
If chosen “Dialog” ,replying into the topic will be with the avatar, and if chosen “Description”, it will be shown without avatar.

Other than that, I’d like to personalize the reply with a custom class.

How can I do this? Must I add some condition into loop-single-reply.php?
    Thank you for your attention.

I recently updated bbpress on my forum and it somehow changed the time formatting for “Freshness”. Previously it said things like “One week ago”, “One month ago” etc but now it says things like “One week, four days ago” and “One month, one week ago” etc.

How can I change this back to the simpler format?

Having the freshness written out in such a long way looks a bit messy. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello,
I think this issue has been going on for years, but I dont seem to be able to find that it had been fixed at some point!

I am using wp 5.22 bbpress 2.5.14 and buddypress 4.3.0
It still happens when I use different themes and if I uninstall other plugins.

In bbpress I have a plugin called private groups and the forums show in the activity stream (which I believe to be from buddy press). You cant enter the forum via the link, but still you see the heading and actually also the text.
I wonder if this problem is because of a false bbp and BP integration? BP doesnt get the info for private/hidden forums?

I am very new to this and dont have much experience so please tell me what more information I can give. I have also posted this issue on buddypress support.
Has there ever been a solution to this?
    Thank you!

    Hello folks,

I am using bbpress. I get mail when user reply on forum thread posted by me or on the thread i have been following. But i also want to send notification on the mobile in the form of text message “some one has reply to your thread”. I tried my best to find the plugin but did not get it. Do you guys know any plugin that can fulfill my requirement?

    Waiting for your positive reply.

Sorry no one was able to help here.

But, I managed to do it by seeing in THIS thread that there is a 2.6 beta candidate of BBPress.
I installed that and used the BBPress1 importer and this worked.

The same importer in the current version (2.5.?) had the same options (BBPress1) but places the DB name at the beginning of the DB prefix and then couldn’t find this extended prefix … which it wouldn’t as it didn’t exist.

So, version 2.6 beta seemingly didn’t add this so all went well.

I do like the integration on BBpress into WP rather as a separate entity. I might move my PHPbb forums to this at some point.

    Hello.
I’ve just changed host and one of the WP sites I have included a bbpress forum. Someone else managed the site; I only ever updated the core and plugins and didn’t really pay much attention to it other than to see the main site was still working OK. I think I probably missed something regarding this a few years back.

However, having moved it, I realise the BBpress forum isn’t working. I’m not sure if it was working on the old site but my hunch is that BBpress has changed.

The old forum was located at http://mysite/bbpress
whereas now, I think BBpress is integrated into WP (which is great, by the way)

I also have a bbpress config file with settings for the DB. I’m thinking this is also redundant too as it seems the bbpress settings are just stored in the regular WP db tables.

I can see my old forum within the bb_forums, bb_meta, bb_post table of my db but in the admin of WP, under the ‘forums’ menu I see ‘no forums’

So, my question is, how do I get the info from the bb_ tables to register as an integrated forum in the new bbpress?

Thanks very much in advance if you can help.

By the way, the old site is no more as I have already switched hosts.

    Hi all,

still having trouble to migrate from phpBB 3.2 to latest WP and bbpress. After having added some lines in the phpBB database and changed everything to UTF8 it runs smoothly, converts all 1700 users, converts the forums converts the topics (22,000) and then starts with all replies (200,000). And it will always stop at Topics 14,000 to 14,099. No error message.

What can I do?? I really need this conversion…

    Thanks for your help!

    Best

    Maxime

    Hello @alanjacobs

I have more or less the same problem as you. I managed to export the forums and topics, I also export the answers, but when I click to see them, I get to an Error 500 – Internal Server Error page.
And yet, the answers are there, see screenshot.
Have you found a solution on your side?
    Thank you in advance.

When using the shortcode [bbp-single-topic id=$topic_id], and clicking on the Subscribe link, I wouldn’t like any redirect, just back to the post where I embedded the topic. But there is a redirect to the separate topic page. How do I prevent this redirect? I would like to just reload the post where the shortcode is embedded, instead of a redirect. Or even better, even eliminate the reload, just like here on bbpress.org, there is no reload and no redirect when subscribing.

    Thanks!

    WordPress 5.2.1
    Divi theme version
    Running PHP version: 7.1.30
    BBPress version 2.5.14
GD BBPress Toolbox Pro version 5.5.1 (says its updated, though the latest version is 5.7 I think)

My theme styling disappears as soon as a user logs in.

When I disable the Toolbox plugin, the forum styling returns, but the developer said its an issue with BBPress core. The error log reads:

The Toolbox developer submitted a ticket with bbPress: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3259

I tried to make the change in my files that is shown on that changeset, but it didn’t fix the issue. Forum styling is still broken for logged in users.

    Any ideas???

    Hello,
I would like to use the Opt-in or Opt-out options, but I am not using the bbpress profile as I also have buddy press installed and am using their profile.
Is there a way to still use the Opt-in or Opt-out options ?
    Thank you
    Sandra
