Is there a git repository or something like this where I can checkout your importer? I have no local wordpress installation and only want to see the source code.
In general I (guess I) understood what needs to be inserted into the database comparing the pre- and post-topic-creation-dump, except the serialized array values for key “_bbp_akismet_as_submitted” in postmeta table. Are all the keys and information necessary? I don’t understand why the HOME key is needed related to an anonymous user or how I get the unique id for REDIRECT_REDIRECT_UNIQUE_ID,…
With “are they necessary” I mean, for automatically / imported entries.
Thanks and kind regards,
Dirk

or talk to your host provider
Not quite sure what what level of knowledge you are coming – the question could mean many things.
If your front end is a page, then you just use wordpress to add a link into the content of thte page – the chain icon is the one. The url will be the one in your browser when you are on the forums part of the site.
Otherwise come back with a more detailed request
bbpress just uses
posts
post_meta
and for its own settings
options
forums, topics and replies are all post types in wordpress.
go to
Import Forums
for more info including an example importer.
I documented my import from snitz access database when I very first started using bbpress, and you may want to read through that as well in this page
Custom Import
updated wordpress and bbpress to the latest versions, but unfortunately it did not help.
WP: 4.9.1 bbPress:2.5.14
Hi there!
I have been trying to following this guide to add a list of recent topics before the forum categories: https://www.daggerhart.com/bbpress-recent-replies-shortcode/
I have put the code in the functions.php file, and <?php echo do_shortcode(‘[bbpress_recent_replies_by_topic]’) ?> in loop-forums.php
After having done this the code isn’t visible, so I am wondering if I have made a mistake. Could anyone be so kind and shed some light on how to make this work?
My forum can be found on http://www.talanrien.com/forums
I am running WordPress 4.9.1 with Bbpress version 2.5.14
As a bonus question I was also wondering if anyone know if it’s possible to ad a shoutbox/chatbox at the bottom of the forum?
Thank you!
Best wishes,
Kasper
When someone says “this forum sucks” it’s pretty difficult to not take it personally, it does sting, and let’s not leave out the point that it’s incredibly disrespectful regardless of their open source knowledge this type of behaviour is not welcome here, and will not be tolerated either, @benjieblock is now banned from posting on these bbPress.org forums.
@rblackfox You question why Robin even does it, if you had read the reply and to which he has every right to reply, and I’ve no issue with his reply, and he has mine and bbPress’ full support, Robin spends countless hours here on bbPress.org helping others and he pointed out why he does it in his reply:
I’m just a guy who uses this software, and in turn spends some of my time in trying to help others.
You state you contribute to the larger community @rblackfox, yet your first interaction on any WordPress property is to criticise a others behaviour here, well you’re also no longer welcome here on bbPress.org, you’ll need to take your own advice from now on and use stackoverflow.
Hello everyone. I was wondering if there is a complete list anywhere for the bbPress plugin of all the functionalities available to the end-user, a general forum user on a wordpress site using bbPress. For instance, having a list of before and after of code and examples to demonstrate what is available and how it works.
For example: the functionality of some of the quicktags is a little ambiguous in what they do. There are some code option for smileys but how many and what they are is unknown. There are options to address previous users in the forums. Ability to embed youtube by placing a link. I am not sure if this is all bbPress on the sites I use as they could be using multiple plugins but having a comprehensive list on what is available for bbPress would be quite handy. Maybe this already exists somewhere but I have not been able to find it as all advice answeres is catered towards the technical end of implementation not general users.
If I could also make a request for such a user help list to be included in the bbPress plugin in something like a drop down or expandable Help List of all available functionality for general users.
It would be great for end-users to be able to utilise this plugin to its full potential but its near impossible to know what that is without a fair bit of trial-and-error. Like I said – maybe this is listed somewhere but it would be great if it was included in the actual plugin design.
Thanks.
if you want the forum’s existence to be public – ie showing in the forum list, but not accessible then use my private groups plugin, with forum visibility set.
Private groups
private groups is a powerful plugin, allowing lots of granularity, but for your initial requirements :
once installed and activated, go to
dashboard>settings>bbp private groups
in group name settings – set up a group 1 to be called anything but say ‘registered’
In forum visibility – activate this, and set up where you want to redirect users to
in assign groups to roles – select ‘Add group on first or no-group login’ and set participants to be assigned group 1
then for each forum that you want users to see exists but not access, go into
dashboard>forums>all forums>edit the forum and
a) set the forum to public – the plugin will stop users seeing content
b) you will see that you can assign it to a group – so set it to group 1
If this is all forums, you will set each to this. If you have public forms where you want anyone to be able to see the forums, then don’t set a group
dashboard
Log out and log in again
I’d also look strongly at updating your wordpress and bbpress versions to the latest, as they both have security updates
Bonjour,
Bertrand
the page is a virtual page
you can make it an actual wordpress page by following
Step by step guide to setting up a bbPress forum – Part 1
Item 3 method 2
not quite sure what you last sentence means, but in essence if
dashboard>settings>forums>forum root slug>forum root equals ‘forums’, then create a page with the permalink of ‘forums’ and put
[bbp-forum-index]
in it. You can then do your seo on that page
If you are using yoast seo, you may want to add this plugin as well – I haven’t yet looked at it, but seems to do some seo stuff on topics etc.
BBpress Addon For Yoast SEO
Bonjour Robin et bonne année à vous.
autre problème sur le bug pour lequel vous m’avez aidé :
Les abonnés wordpress sans rôle pour le forum recoivent les mails !!!
que changer dans le fichier function ?
Merci
cab you re-log this on the support page for my style pack plugin
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bbp-style-pack
and I’ll pick it up there and resolve it
sorry just re-read your post.
Registration is a wordpress thing.
You just need to change the address is
dashboard>settings>general>email address
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-private-groups/ will let you set up different groups and have users with different access.
Hi,
I have noticed all emails sent when someone registers are from wordpress@mydomainname.com! Is it possible to change it to admin@mydomainname.com or completely hide wordpress from email correspondences?
Regards,
Jacob
In setting up new forums on a new instance of my WordPress Multisite, when I create a new topic, the input area does not include a button to add an attachment. The only areas on the page are topic title, topic content, topic type, topic status, and submit. What am I missing that I should be doing?
Current versions of WordPress, bbPress, etc.
I had this problem once before but I can’t recall how it was fixed.
Hi Robin, thanks for your reply. I’m in Australia so our time differences may cause a delay in my responses.
Both old posts and new posts have stopped displaying images.
I’ve turned off Paid Membership Pro on this forum so you can get in and have a look. This is my production site.
This thread is an example with both posts and replies where the photos aren’t displaying.
I’ve unlocked the same forum on the staging site and created a new topic and reply from the dashboard. While the photos display in the dashboard visual editor, they don’t display in the user view.
So, just to confirm your questions, it appears photos are not displaying in either new or old posts or replies on production or staging (with standard WP theme).
Going back and looking at WordPress release dates (4.8 was mid-2017) makes me think this is not related. It was working fine well after that. Especially if you’ve just tested it and you’re displaying photos with <p> tags. I’m going back to a plugin conflict…
Cheers
Matt
Hi,
can the import function also import the attachments from SMF 2.0.15 ?
Does it place it into the Media-Library or where ?
Do I need to have installed the GD bbPress Attachments
plugin, before I do the import from SMF ?
I just tried without it and it seems it did not import
any attachments…
Or are the attachments at least somehow linked into the WordPress Database ?
Many thanks.
Regards, Stefan.

Hi. I am willing to insert a bbpress forum in my wordpress themed site, i’m also using Divi as builder interface.
The page in which i want to add the forum is http://www.doomtrooper.it/forum
The home page of the forum is fine, but the problem is : when i click on any of the forum links, the site opens up a new “template” page, in which there is obviously no background, no image, no personalisation, etc…
How can i force bbpress to open up links in the same page? i mean…something like iframe or whatever…i need to “embed” all the forum in the http://www.doomtrooper.it/forum page in order to maintain styles.
I’m asking for the easiest/better solution.
Thanks.
@sarwarc – I just created this very simple plugin to give you access to the user profile link via a shortcode. You can use it in conjunction with the Shortcodes in Menus plugin to add a link to the user’s profile page in your menu.
