Trent – I see you have fixed the problem. Thank you very much !
I will now go to build the forum, and will share with all of you once I made it work (and also, will share my Hebrew translation to the rest of the community)
Again, Trent, thank you very much
p.s: one small correction I made to the stylesheet, was to the header.
In the current configuration, The first letter of the name of the forums, is cut off.
So to fix it, I erased the line:
font-style: italic;
from the file style.css, in the “#header h1 { ” section, as seen here:
In style.css:
#header h1 {
font-family: Georgia;
/*font-style: italic;*/ <– this line
position: absolute;
display: block;
color: #444;
text-align: right;
letter-spacing: -1px;
right: 59px;
bottom: 31px;
}
I don’t know how to incorporate it into the trunk or to post a ticket, but I hope what I write will help…
Another small issue (which matters little to me, but is worth noting) :
When the mouse hovers around a header of (for example a forum name): in Firefox, you get the whole line to change color(as it should). in IE you deon’t get that effect.
Tal.
Actually, I think it means you CAN translate it. I don’t know how to translate, and I only know what I have read here, but I think you need a program called poedit http://www.poedit.net/ to create the translation.
Also, maybe this is relevant?
https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/576?replies=2#post-3361
And, here is a list of current translations. If you create a translation, maybe you can add yours to the list:

The best thing would be to translate your entire bbPress. Check out this post on internationalization. Since it has ‘You must login to Post” on that post you put up, I am assuming you haven’t used a translation file.

Currently i’m trying to develop something using wordpress & bbpress.
Everything flows pretty good when talking on functionality and the rest of features, but there is a problem.
Actually 2 problems. First I already posted here: http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/867
And now the second one:
The final release has to be in another language but english. It’s true, I found no troubles translating bbpress in my language and the rest of updated wordpress. But after what I’ve integrated both of api’s: the wordpress and bbpress; this resulted in the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class streamreader in /var/www/pm/forum/bb-includes/streams.php on line 26
I suppose it’s because of the translations, cause when I did not defined BBLANG, everything worked well.
After a bit I thought, that a solution for my problem can be joining both of the bbpress and wordpress translation .mo’s and defining just WPLANG for my language settings. That worked, but I dont see this as a pretty simple and accessible solution for everybody!
I would be glad getting some help on that, If there is any other more easier solution, that would be cool.
You can get the file at: http://e-stas.net/files/fc.php/1
The version I’ve tranlated: 0.81
I will also support this translation once bbPress will be upgraded.
Thank you guys for a wonderfull bbs.
Done. I’m glad to help bbPress.
If you could make it public and then post a reply to the following thread and to the internationalize bbPress post that would be great! Thanks for that!
Trent
I just spent a while translating a .po file that I got from here to Swedish and creating a .mo file from it. You can see the results on forum.rimnytt.se.
Should I make it public, or is there already a Swedish translation or a fresher .po file?
I made Japanese translation for bbPress.
I translated using trunk.
Please see the following file.
http://oss.poyo.jp/pub/contribute/bbpress/2007-02-20/bbpress-svn-trunk-20070220.tar.gz
Thanks.
Hi all,
I just wanted to share my Indonesian translation of bbPress. You can download the file over here.
http://www.kyantonius.com/downloads/bbPress-ID.zip
In that zip file you will find two files, namely id_ID.po and id_ID.mo. Please use the appropriate one.
I hope this will be useful for Indonesian users of bbPress.
Regards,
Kemas
For anyone interested, I’ve got a list of all the current translations going. If you have one that isn’t there I’d love to add it.
Check it out here: http://proforums.palmansworld.com/localization/
Hello Ike,
I think you just have to put “de” instead of “de_DE” in the config file…
Would you post your german translation? Because I’m still looking for one.
Hi!
First off all, thank you very much for this great piece of code!
We’re using bbpress as forum for our citizen journalism project “Bürgerzeitung Köln” at http://bz.koeln.de. Because our users prefer german language, we decide to do a translation. And of course we will make it public and available for everyone.
So, as ‘only’ 133 translations are waiting to be done, there should be a public Alpha availabe by the end of this week. It will be a “Sie”-Version, but it shouldn’t be a problems doing a “Du”-Version as well, later.

hey trent,
thanks for your reply. i suppose you mean this plugin? it’s the only one i could find with a name close enough to ‘WP translation plugin’.
but what this plugin does is translate the posts for you and i basically only want the forum stuff to be translated, not the topics.
Have you looked at the WP translation plugin? I think that could be altered to do something for bbPress. I haven’t looked at it, but it should be pretty simple to integrate.
Trent
Hi mdawaffe,
could you create one folder for me as well.
I need http://svn.automattic.com/bbpress-i18n/sk/
Slovak language “sk_SK”
Translation is ready now.
.pot file contains only the string that need translation (ie english), .po file is the translation file that contains original strings and translated ones, that is compiled to generated .mo file.
I tried cagnese’s spanish translation, but still nothing… So it’s not my de_DE.mo…
Hi there,
I just finished the german translation.
Or I assume to, because it doesn’t work at all?! I followed teknoseyir’s steps and uploaded my de_DE.mo
(generated by poEdit) into /bb-includes/languages
, definded BBLANG as de_DE
in my config.php
, but everything is still in english. What’s missing? Running version 0.74.

I search and read probably everything about localization, but didn’t have any luck updating correctly bbpress.
Where do i put/copy the .pot file. Is the .mo file necessary? Where do I copy that? I need a step by step tutorial on how to make the translation work.
Thanks so much.
It is possible that you are using a corrupted spanish mo file. I read somewhere in these forums there was a problem with an “old” spanish translation (the problem appeas when trying to get to the profile). Try the translation I’ve just published to see if it solves the problem:
bbPress spanish translation for 0.74.
Has anyone done a german translation yet? I didn’t find anything anywhere…
If not I’ll propably do one, if someone tells me how this *.pot=>*.mo-things have to be done…
Yes please add me for the it_IT translationon SVN so i will put there my translation files.
About the POT i checked a diff with the one i generated nd they looks the same then it’s all ok
Hi,
Thanks for that file, it works fine;
we’re about to finish Turkish translation for bbPress.
By the way, there are some parts that cannot be translated with that file.
For example,
* In the topic page, “post count” next to the topic title.
* In a tag page, (e.g https://bbpress.org/forums/tags/translation ), “TAGS” word between Forum name and tag name.
I’m working on the spanish translation and I’m having a problem.
syntax error, unexpected $end in /…/bb-includes/gettext.php(307) : eval()’d code on line 1
The error really comes from this line of code:
$posts = sprintf('%1$s %2$s', $post_num, __ngettext( 'post', 'posts', $post_num ));
And I guess it has something to do with the plurals (post and posts). I’ve generated the po file using poEdit.
Does anyone have an idea of how to solve this?
