    Of course. This is open-source and you can modify and redistribute as you like if I understand it correctly. Translations are always great; not a clue how to make them, though, so I can’t help you with how. Same method as wp, though.

    Dear Editors,

    i really appreciate the bbpress and the WP script as well. Some month ago the Hungarian translation of the WP has released, and i wonder maybe a this forum script would be quite popular in my country.

    I would like to ask whether i may translate this sript and release it at my own website, of course placing direct link pointing back to the mother site.

    Thank you anyhow!

    It probably is. But what are you going to do when you need to update? If you make more changes? Could become very unwieldy very quick. Translation is the way to go.

    You basically want to translate it. Not sure how it’s done but there are a few translation threads around here. (Some changes you can also make in the theme but by no means all of them.)

    I have translated (mostly) .pot file from 0.8.1 version to Serbian Latin (utf-8).

    Download from: http://www.aplus.co.yu/deliver/

    There are some phrases that are not translated as I was not sure where are they used. I’m using this on my vine forum and will refine it there, during use.

    I noticed that .pot file is not complete, as some phrases are outdated or wrong (ex: “…is proudly powered…” is not the same phrase as in the theme), but it’s fine, most of the time.

    Hopefully developers will update the .pot file in the trunk.

    Hey, thanks for the feedback. The fact that I almost have just a css file on “my-templates” is also a big compliment to the work done on bbPress and its markup.

    fel: Thanks! Glad you like it. I agree with you on the colours. Actually, I began with only black, green and white, but somehow I just felt there where too many “greens” around (damaging the overall mood), so I grew tired of it and dropped some blue into the mix. But you certainly have a point on link-colour coherence. I’ll be looking on that. Thanks for the thumbs-up!

    ganzua: Absolutely. The translation of “tags” is almost meaningless in Spanish. I often go for “categorías” instead of “tags”, and put “secciones” instead of “categories”. But for this forum I just put the translation files and didn’t touch anything…

    And I have to thank back to the bbPress team for the simplicity of their work. It is a pleasure to “design” on it.

    Hey, fel 64!

    Then this is a bad new because it is not smart at all changing core files.

    However I have a half working “B plan” :)

    You can get rid of that streams.php error by pointing the ‘BBLANG’ to the wordpress .mo file.

    You have to change bbpress config.php like this;

    define('BBLANGDIR', '/wp-includes/languages/es_ES.mo');

    The problem is that when you copy the bbpress .mo to the wordpress .mo it doesn’t translate anything but the wp itself.

    Translation files come in two files; a .mo file and a .po file that I think is the source code.

    Perhaps you need to add anything to this .po file but I didn’t find out yet.

    Hi Trent;

    ” the TRAC ticket (development and testing site) shows that this issue with translating dates from the .mo file should work now. Test it out would be the only way to find out for sure.”

    -> Nop, impossible because after wp integration you get the streams.php error whenever you set a .mo file in the config.

    Let me ask just one question; if you manually translate each file, file by file, all translation you need (excluding admin control panel) are located in the template?

    Like Chris said, Pro Forums is doing it’s best to make a list of all the current translations. So if you could, add your message here with the link to your translation so we can make the list even more comprehensive.

    Hi!

    I put es_ES .mo and .po translation files in this folder;

    bb-includes/languages/

    Then I changed config.php;

    define(‘BBLANG’, ‘es’);

    and as a result the whole forum stops working and I’m getting this message;

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class CachedFileReader in D:wampwwwwordpressbbpressbb-includesstreams.php on line 163

    Any idea of what’s wrong?

    I have another question;

    Is there anyway I can make bbpress to read wordpress language files in wordpress language folder?

    Tengo un problema con la integración con WordPress… por cierto, hola, creo que es la primera vez que escribo ^^

    Pues eso, a ver si a alguién más le ha pasado, más que la integración el problema es sin intentamos usar las funciones de WordPress incluyendo wp-blog-header y además traducimos a cualquier idioma, por eso creo que la mayoría de la comunidad no se habrá dado cuenta ya que, quizás, no especifican un lenguaje (BBLANG).

    Lo que ocurre es:

    Al especificar la variable BBLANG se activa la traducción incluyendo algunos archivos desde bb-settings.php:

    if ( defined('BBLANG') && '' != constant('BBLANG') ) { // Covi:Don't include these when WP TRANSLATION is running: BBLANG defined

    include_once(BBPATH . BBINC . 'streams.php');

    include_once(BBPATH . BBINC . 'gettext.php');

    }

    if ( !( defined('DB_NAME') || defined('WP_BB') && WP_BB ) ) { // Don't include these when WP is running.

    require( BBPATH . BBINC . 'kses.php');

    require( BBPATH . BBINC . 'l10n.php');

    }Estos archivos también los incluye WordPress y provoca un error (funciones repetidas).

    La solución, como indica el archivo, aunque no en la traducción sobre BBLANG, es no incluirlos y lo soluciona en parte pero nos quedamos sin traducción porque usa el .mo de WordPress creo.

    Ahora mismo pienso que la solución real es incluir la traducción del foro en el archivo .mo de WordPress.

    Un saludo ;)

    I have exactly the same problem but want to make a Polish translation. I cannot find the original *.po file to translate. It’s neither in SVN nor in the standard download. No information can be found on the website how to generate it from the php files or download the original version in order to make the localization.

    Ayone could help me with that?

    Hi all people,

    I want to translate bbpress in Italian. I want to translate the last stable version so I am going to do this all by myself.

    Could you point me on the right step to do the translation?

    I have installed poedit but exactly which are the files to edit? po, mo, etc.. how do I find/create them and then, when the translation is finished, where I put the translated one?

    Obviously all my work will be freely available when it’s finished.

    Thanks for your attention.

    Hello

    I’m having the same exact problem, with the same configuration: Win Xp with SP2 + Xampp.

    Installation went fine, WP users (with the locally installed WP) are recognized, even the french translation file works.

    The path to my stylesheet seems fine, I checked the source. But it won’t work.

    I didn’t get how to fix it. I saw the PHP code but it doesn’t tell WHERE to put it. If anyone could tell, that would be great.

    bbx

    EDIT: I’ve tried to figure it out by myself but it didn’t work out.

    I added the function in the “functions.php” file, and the add_filter in the “default-filters.php” file, both files being in the “bb-includes” folder.

    What did I do wrong?

    it’s bbpulp.org, by the way, and Pro Forums has a pretty in depth list of translations that you can add yours too. It’s also a great place to find plugins for those of you who didn’t already know.

    As for Italian, I don’t think there is one yet. Here is a list (I think it’s current) of all the available translations:

    I use the dutch translation in my forum. Unfortunately, the words “day”, “month” etc. in the functions have not been have not been modified by the translation. Where can I change the “%s” parameter used in various functions?

    I kinda like the theme, but don’t get the attitude, unless it is some ‘lost in the internet’ translation problem I am having.

    Trent – I see you have fixed the problem. Thank you very much !

    I will now go to build the forum, and will share with all of you once I made it work (and also, will share my Hebrew translation to the rest of the community)

    Again, Trent, thank you very much :)

    p.s: one small correction I made to the stylesheet, was to the header.

    In the current configuration, The first letter of the name of the forums, is cut off.

    So to fix it, I erased the line:

    font-style: italic;

    from the file style.css, in the “#header h1 { ” section, as seen here:

    In style.css:

    #header h1 {

    font-family: Georgia;

    /*font-style: italic;*/ <– this line

    position: absolute;

    display: block;

    color: #444;

    text-align: right;

    letter-spacing: -1px;

    right: 59px;

    bottom: 31px;

    }

    I don’t know how to incorporate it into the trunk or to post a ticket, but I hope what I write will help…

    Another small issue (which matters little to me, but is worth noting) :

    When the mouse hovers around a header of (for example a forum name): in Firefox, you get the whole line to change color(as it should). in IE you deon’t get that effect.

    Tal.

    Actually, I think it means you CAN translate it. I don’t know how to translate, and I only know what I have read here, but I think you need a program called poedit http://www.poedit.net/ to create the translation.

    Also, maybe this is relevant?

    And, here is a list of current translations. If you create a translation, maybe you can add yours to the list:
