    The above was spam 😉

    It theoretically continue to run at the same speed at reply 1-100 or 90,000 – 90,100.

    A recent case of similar behaviour was due to another plugin being active and hooking into pre_get_posts(), this caused every single post being imported to be run through this and was the cause of the slowness.

    Check what other plugins are running to see if this is the cause.

    And no, *all* bbPress data is stored in the standard WordPress db tables, bbPress does not create any tables of it’s own.

    Hi Jason,
    If you experience a bug with a plugin, you better ask on the support page of that plugin directly (in this case https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bbp-style-pack)
    Pascal.

    If reduced speed is the only topic of concern during an import, then I would say there are no concerns at all 🙂
    Improving speed is something that is already ongoing for years (see e.g. https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1925) and will probably never end, but that’s positive in this case.

    Let’s just hope the import ends correctly, whatever time it might take.

    Pascal.

    Sorry this isn’t the best of experiences 🙁

    Can you try the 2.6 alpha version, available from this page as “development version”
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/developers/
    • aka https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/bbpress.zip

    Also if you “right click” any of the items as they import and select “Inspect element” to view the source code you will see the direct MySQL queries as they happen, you can then use these to help debug directly in phpMyAdmin 🙂

    Wordpress – 4.4; bbpress 2.5.8; http://www.putznutzcabinfever.com

    I am wracking my brain! I have looked all over. My website is http://www.putznutzcabinfever.com and all I need is the functionality of bbpress. I have around 40 family members signed up but so far, those who have tried have not been able to start a topic or reply to anything. I am getting the following message “ERROR: You do not have permission to reply.” I do have Ultimate Member installed if that makes any difference. I have installed Buddypress thinking that it might have something to do with it but have determined it is overkill for my site and that it still does not take care of my problem. I keep thinking there is some place I need to go to change user permissions. Please advise. I am willing to give temporary back door access if necessary.

    How to keep members in their own forum?

    I have a site “mysite.com” with wordpress/bbpress, currently this site has 1 forum for a club-A, all the registered users use this forum. All members are manually activated. All is good. ( I love BBpress! )

    HOWEVER -“IF” I were to wish to add another forum for Club-B within “mysite.com” and keep those users seperate from the CLUB-A forum and vice-versa how is that accomplished?

    It seems that within wordpress/bbpress all registered users would normally have access to both forums.

    Example: “Joe” could be a member of Club-A and Club-B and therefore should have access to both of those forums. “Sally” is only a member of Club-A and therefore should only access Club-A forum.

    I do have the following plugins that “may” help- but not sure how to implement them to accomplish this or if it’s even possible.

    1 – Capabilities Manager
    2 – WP Members
    3 – login-logout redirects

    Ideas?
    Thanks in advance for any help or ideas that you can provide – I’m stumped! So far everything I have thought of to accomplish this has failed- so I thought I’d ask here before I end up breaking something.

    Hi! i was just looking for some help to customise redirecting my bb press login pages.

    Currently when people register with my website using bbpress. it looks part of my website. but if they are met with the “ERROR: This username is already registered. Please choose another one.
    or
    ERROR: This email is already registered, please choose another one.”

    then this message is displayed on a new page. (I have already changed the logo so it does not display the wordpress logo)

    but i would like the page to be views inside my website to look part of the website, like the register option is.

    The same goes for the “registration complete” page,
    Right now those pages look like a seperate website due to the page completely changing, Is this possible to change?

    One more thing, is there a way also to allow users to create a password upon registering, it seems a nuisance to have to register, then check your emails, visit a new page to create a password and then log in. Thats 4 steps to take.

    Im not great with coding so ideally the less coding the better,

    I did have another login plugin which did all this in the settings section but i think i need to use bbprress login as i have the bbpress forum. I don’t think any other login plugin will work to log into the bbpress forum.

    Hi Robkk -thank you for addressing this – I see you on here all the time and I’m so glad I got you specifically. If anyone can solve this-it is you.

    Allow me to first give you a heads up on what I have here:

    1. WordPress (current version)
    2. BBpress (current Version)
    3. I am currently running only one (1) forum with topics
    (may be more forums later- but for now its enough)

    Goal: to have “Recent Forum Topics” as a scrolling widget rather than a long static list in my sidebar. I am currently displaying 10 most recent, and would like to scroll 3 of the 10 most recent at a time. (Sounds simple enough -but I have experienced otherwise)

    I used this plugin as it seemed to be the closest fit, but it only seems to scroll “Posts” not “Recent Forum Topics” http://www.gopiplus.com/work/2010/07/18/vertical-scroll-recent-post/
    (can be found in the WP admin plugins directory)

    This plugin widget seems to work great for POSTS, if it did “Recent Forum Topics” it would be perfect.

    I have had contact with the author, several emails – he has been very gracious, and prompt in his responses, however, there may be a communication problem in differentiating “Posts” from “Recent Forum Topics”. This is why I’ve finally posted here.

    Thank you for your efforts and assistance.

    I used this plugin http://www.gopiplus.com/work/2010/07/18/vertical-scroll-recent-post/

    How do I add the number of posts under the name and the symbolic images of the user?

    Post count is coming to a future release of bbPress. You can use a plugin like this to add the counts for now.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-topic-count/

    What exactly do you mean by symbolic images??

    How do I change the title to any user of an optional title?
    Ex: the title of the current user in the Forum (supervisor) want to have the title of supervisor (supervisor pictures)

    You can rename the current forum roles to whatever you want with this php code snippet in this guide. Add the function to your child themes functions.php or in a plugin that can hold custom code snippets like functionality.

    Layout and functionality – Examples you can use

    You can also create custom user roles with custom capabilities and add the custom names there.

    Custom Capabilities

    How to determine the powers of the supervisors so far have not I transfer Lists Musharraf to it have all the powers modification and deletion of all sections I wanted to be the powers of the supervisor on only a particular section

    Assigning a user to a forum is not possible in the default functionality of the latest stable version of bbPress.

    Hi,

    I have two admin users on my WordPress install.

    I have the latest bbpress (2.5.8) installed and the latest wordpress (4.3.1).

    Users can post new topics without issue.

    However, when I go to reply, I get the message that “You do not have permission to reply” even though both admin users have the Keymaster role.

    I have reset the bbpress system twice now (tools-forums-reset forums) and still no joy.

    I believe that this plugin may just be trying to kill me. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

    Problem occurs using Twenty Twelve as a theme as well.

    Any and all help is appreciated.

    My forum is at: https://www.bsop.ca/forums/forum/lightroom/

    Hi,
    Don’t know if it can fit your needs, but last time I had to create some users, I used https://wordpress.org/plugins/import-users-from-csv-with-meta/ . In a CSV file I have set their login, email and password (and some extra fields) and the plugin then sends the login and password to the user.
    Pascal.

    All I want is a forum on the entry site of my wordpress and nothing else. I supposed that for this I need to make a page and use one of the bbpress shortcodes. BUT this does not work. No matter what I enter as a shortcode, I get back an empty page.

    I’ve seen some old entries that there is a “whitelist” plugin, but there is no mentioning anywhere on bbpress that this is needed -I don’t get it.

    Could anyone help here and enlighten me?

    Regards,
    Benny

    Hi guys,

    I am pretty new to BBpress but i want to make a private forum this part is already done. But now i want my coworkers to login to the forum by a link in the footer or something. Now i add a user in the backend of wordpress and he have to login at site/wp-admin and then go to the forum link. But what i want is:

    – Create user and pw in users
    – Add a login link in the footer when you click on it you have to fill in the username and password en will be redirected to the forum directly. So not login in the admin first and then fill in the url.

    Is this possible?

    Please find enclosed a link for the test Website:

    Well I am not seeing an issue with my forums disappearing with WP Monalisa activated.

    Where do I activate TinyMCE and find the default toolbar editor in WordPress? Or are you talking about BBPress Dashboard?

    Well your not using TinyMCE so you would see the error I come across. Like said there is an issue, so you may not need to activate it. There is a plugin on wordpress repository and a code snippet in the codex to allow TinyMCE.

    As previously mentioned it didn’t work with a freshly installed bbPress Website. I had nothing else installed except the bbPress Forum. The enclosed totius.tk however is now a plugin.

    Yes, wordpress plugins do not work for the old standalone version, but with the plugin version. I cannot test to see if an install of bbPress v1 would cause an issue, as I cannot run this on wamp. Kind of do not know how to install bbPress v1 anyway.

    Sorry, I forgot to post the WordPress Dashboard that comes up for Settings/Writing:

    A new version of WordPress probably removed the smilies setting like the wp monalisa plugin says, there was a version with that setting before.

    @seyibest Put this loop-forums.php file in your child theme in a folder called bbpress.

    https://github.com/robkk/bbPress-Hierarchical-Forum-and-Category-Layout

    so, how do i make it to be in a place like just only Login/Register on just a menu bar like

    They added custom menu item links in the menu section. You can create links leading to the WordPress login/register forms. There is also this php code snippet here to add links, you might need to add a conditional to it for a specific menu.

    add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'rkk_add_auth_links', 10 , 2 );
    function rkk_add_auth_links( $items, $args ) {
        if (is_user_logged_in() {
            $items .= '<li><a href="'. wp_logout_url() .'">Log Out</a></li>';
        }
        elseif (!is_user_logged_in() {
            $items .= '<li><a href="'. site_url('wp-login.php') .'">Log In</a></li>';
            $items .= '<li><a href="'. site_url('wp-login.php?action=register') .'">Register</a></li>';
            $items .= '<li><a href="'. site_url('wp-login.php?action=lostpassword') .'">Lost Password</a></li>';
        }
        return $items;
    }

    and moreso, i made the homepage to be the forum. how can i code it in such a way that 2-3 of my post will appear on the homepage follow by the forum beneath it?

    There is a plugin called bbp style pack that can give you a shortcode to display the latest number of topics on your site. bbPress has this shortcode for the forum archive, [bbp-forum-index]

    Yeah it is not really Jetpack’s issue at all. Since I see this topic, it seems like your issue is resolved now.

    Hi,

    I am pretty sure that is a theme error. The wp bug show this:

    Notice: bbp_setup_current_user was called incorrectly. The current user is being initialized without using $wp->init(). Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 2.3.) in /home/public_html/fakedomain.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3622

    Do you have any idea what is it?

    I contacted the author, but he doesnt know how to solve yet.

    and whether they can respond to the posts via e-mail?

    bbPress cannot do this by default, you may need a plugin for this. I think their is one in the WordPress repository called bbPress bbPress post by email. It needs to be hooked up with an SMTP service though.

    On my menu on wordpress I am getting link.com/forum-4/ and I cant remove the “-4”?

    Well you created a page called forum 3 other times that is why it adds the -4 to the end.

    If you are creating a “forum page”, know that you really do not have to do this. Just go to /forums or whatever the forum root slug is set in your forum settings in Settings > Forums.

    I’m getting the same error on bbpress with some forums.

    Are you naming a forum, “forum”??

    Also, where is the function for users to register and their profiles?

    Since your using the bbPress plugin, you register through WordPress login and register forms. bbPress has some shortcodes you can place in a page, and they will redirect you to the default WordPress forms since they aren’t really dedicated forms.

    Profiles should be present if users click their name on the bbPress login widget, the author link in their posts, or you can add a custom menu item using a function in this guide.
