I think the easiest thing to do is to use Louisedade’s avatar plugin ( https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/1027?replies=3 ), and then using a simple MySQL query on the WordPress side to get that data to use next to comments.

    How did you integrate profiles?

    Does anyone know of a plugin with which i can use on both the aforementioned sites? I’ve integrated both bbpress & wordpress so they use the same profile, and i just want to include a way for users to upload an avatar. and for it to show next to comments. their posts, and in their profile. Any help much appreciated!

    Most of us using bbpress are using wordpress as well.

    Are you sure?

    I would like a great degree of integration too, mainly blogpost/topics and comments/replies, but we may be in the minority. :)

    Most of us using bbpress are using wordpress as well. All we want is add the forum feature to our blog easily. If bbpress can just embed in a wordpress page, it will be much easier for us to work with both script. Just my thought :-)

    Suleiman,

    since you were successful integrating wpmu and bbpress, could you tell me what they mean in the installation instructions (https://bbpress.org/blog/2006/09/simpler-integration-with-wordpress)

    by “setting bb->wp_table_prefix”?

    when i open config.php i see in the botton the following:

    $bb->wp_table_prefix = ”; // WordPress table prefix. Example: ‘wp_’;

    so, again the question is what exactly do i need to change in config.php

    thanks!

    i attempted to login to trac, however the login information i use here (or at wordpress.org) does work for the trac login. Does anyone have any ideas for a workaround in the meantime?

    Gack!

    I listed a bunch of WordPress plugins. That doesn’t help. Basically, the concept is the same. You need to grab the RSS feed from bbPress and insert that into your site.

    How about any of these techniques?

    http://www.google.com/search?q=insert+rss+into+html

    The first result looked promising…

    Sorry Spencer, I haven’t seen the Gathering theme and aren’t particularly looking for a forum theme right now anyway. It’d be cool to see, though.

    But please don’t take down WordPress, I need that WP/bb/Mediawiki integration article for future reference! :P

    Hello,

    I can use one installation and run many wordpress sites (http://me.mywebsight.ws/2006/08/11/host-multiple-wp-sites-on-one-installation/) All you need to modify the config.php

    Do you think this method can apply to bbpress as well?

    Yes, I made sure the registration.php existed. The weird thing is that if it had not existed, my .htaccess should redirect to the main page. It’s driving me crazy.

    To top things off, I now have the bozo issue that I cannot resolve at work, and the users who I had register through WordPress are not able to comment (but I can)…but that’s another support issue entirely…I think.

    Oh, I see what you mean. I just thought of those as seperate sub-forums of the main forum.

    I don’t know how that option works. Perhaps it tags threads according to their category if that category is there? Just experiment with it a bit, and if you find out tell us :)

    I have done a complete site re-design and have been debating between using vBulletin, which I own, or bbPress. I decided to try out bbPress purely from the simplicity and low-maintenance aspect. But I am having a registration issue that may be cookie related, but I am not sure.

    I have bbPress installed within my WordPress directory. I also have bbPress integration as well as WordPress integration to keep users synced between the two (I hope that is what I was supposed to do).

    My WordPress register page seems to be working:

    http://www.dreamindemon.com/Blog/wp-login.php?action=register

    But my bbPress does not:

    http://www.dreamindemon.com/Blog/forum/register.php

    I have verified that registering in WordPress does integrate the user automatically into bbPress.

    Any ideas on what I should be looking at to resolve this?

    Hi.

    I know that’s not the wordpress forum, but my problem is about bbpress so i’ll ask there.

    firstly, look at this: http://ram.org.pl/forum/

    everything seem to be working ok, but click on the ‘latest discussion’ called ‘ostatnio na forum’ in my sidebar on the right. there’s a problem with links to topics. how to resolve the problem?

    On this forum there are a few categories. It is probally not called categories in English.

    – Installation

    – Troubleshooting

    – Templates

    – Plugins

    – Requests and Feedback

    – Pimp your Press

    This plugin has an option “N/A Categories (separated by comas, eg. “1,10,40”) -” but, how does it work?

    There’s no such thing as categories in bb, unless I don’t understand what you mean? You can tag threads, but there’s no such thing as categories.

    Thank you. Do you know if it also automaticly creates Categories?

    Yup! http://dev.mbzeus.net/?page_id=6 It’ll create (or edit) topics in bb when you make or edit posts in WP.

    Is there a plugin that automaticly copies categories and post from the wordpress blog?

    I’m running a fresh installation of bbPress, albeit with the WordPress integration and Bozo-error-fix plugins, and I noticed that certain links return a “No input file specified” error page. Here’s an example:

    http://www.queenscentral.com/forums/tags/

    The homepage RSS seems to do the same thing:

    http://www.queenscentral.com/forums/rss/

    Though other RSS feeds are working fine.

    Anybody know what could be causing this?

    Hi, first of all, Thank You For Doing This :-)

    I uploaded the folder and trying to run the install.php (http://www.gaszappers.com/forum/bb-admin/install.php), and all I got is this:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: bb_install_header() in /home/2206/domains/gaszappers.com/html/forum/bb-admin/install.php on line 11

    Any Clues?

    I triple check the dbName, user, password, directory and all that jazz, here’s my config.php:

    <?php

    // ** MySQL settings ** //

    define(‘BBDB_NAME’, ‘db2206_gaszappers’); // The name of the database

    define(‘BBDB_USER’, ‘********’); // Your MySQL username

    define(‘BBDB_PASSWORD’, ‘*********’); // …and password

    define(‘BBDB_HOST’, ‘internal-db.s2206.gridserver.com’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value

    // Change the prefix if you want to have multiple forums in a single database.

    $bb_table_prefix = ‘bb_’; // Only letters, numbers and underscores please!

    // If your bbPress URL is http://bbpress.example.com/forums/ , the examples would be correct.

    // Adjust the domain and path to suit your actual URL.

    // Just the domain name; no directories or path. There should be no trailing slash here.

    $bb->domain = ‘http://gaszappers.com’; // Example: ‘http://bbpress.example.com’

    // There should be both a leading and trailing slash here. ‘/’ is fine if the site is in root.

    $bb->path = ‘/forum/’; // Example: ‘/forums/’

    // What are you going to call me?

    $bb->name = ‘GAS ZAPPERS Development Forum’;

    // This must be set before running the install script.

    $bb->admin_email = ‘kenneth@tinkin.com’;

    // Set to true if you want pretty permalinks.

    $bb->mod_rewrite = true;

    // The number of topics that show on each page.

    $bb->page_topics = 30;

    // A user can edit a post for this many minutes after submitting.

    $bb->edit_lock = 60;

    // Your timezone offset. Example: -7 for Pacific Daylight Time.

    $bb->gmt_offset = -4;

    // Change this to localize bbPress. A corresponding MO file for the

    // chosen language must be installed to bb-includes/languages.

    // For example, install de.mo to bb-includes/languages and set BBLANG to ‘de’

    // to enable German language support.

    define(‘BBLANG’, ”);

    // Your Akismet Key. You do not need a key to run bbPress, but if you want to take advantage

    // of Akismet’s powerful spam blocking, you’ll need one. You can get an Akismet key at

    // http://wordpress.com/api-keys/

    $bb->akismet_key = ‘***************’; // Example: ‘0123456789ab’

    // The rest is only useful if you are integrating bbPress with WordPress.

    // If you’re not, just leave the rest as it is.

    $bb->wp_table_prefix = ”; // WordPress table prefix. Example: ‘wp_’;

    $bb->wp_home = ”; // WordPress – Options->General: Blog address (URL) // No trailing slash. Example: ‘http://example.com’

    $bb->wp_siteurl = ”; // WordPress – Options->General: WordPress address (URL) // No trailing slash. Example: ‘http://example.com’

    /* Stop editing */

    if ( !defined(‘BBPATH’) )

    define(‘BBPATH’, dirname(__FILE__) . ‘/’ );

    require_once( BBPATH . ‘bb-settings.php’ );

    Oh, thanks Trent…

    I also did something, well not so great as you did… :)

    I wrote about bbPress on my blog, including some of our reviews from here. The blog is of course on WordPress.com.

    So far not to much responses… But I saw some referrers coming here from there.

    It’d be better as a plugin for WordPress, with the obvious option not to activate it, and the opportunity to deactivate it without affecting the function of WordPress.

    It’d share all the benefits of WP too.
