Hi,

As admin of our BBPress the site I have 90+ notifications stating ‘you have pending users to moderate’.

as they have now been approved once i click ‘you have pending users to moderate’ it takes me to a blank members request page. when i then go back to the main site i still have exactly the same ammount of notifactions, which never go.

Is there a way I can clear these?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

sorry, my plugin is just a styling tool for bbpress, so is completely pointless unless you are using bbpress

@robin-w Yes it works now. I am having to install bbpress to use the plugin. But i do not want to install bbpress to use this plugin. Is there any way to use without installing bbpress?

can you try having bbpress AND bbp style pack

It could be a theme or plugin issue

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

Plugins

If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and style pack and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

I’m very new to both WordPress and bbPress but is there a way to make a script (preferably in PHP) to check if a user is logged into bbPress and then get the user information, like User Name and ID? And is the reverse also possible? As in, search and get User Name by the ID number.

I’m using bbPress 2.5.14 on WordPress 5.2

Hi robin,

I have the same issue on my site, I added the code as it is but when i give a user the ‘tutor’ role, After saving the role disappears and the user has no bbpress role assigned to them.Even i i signup as a subscriber, If the default role is set to be ‘tutor’ The newly registered user ends up with no bbpress role.

Running the latest version of WordPress and BBPress, (have Buddypress loaded, but I deactivated it, just so I can focus on learning BBPress right now). Been rolling it around in my head what is the best way to create a Business Directory on my site. Thought maybe I could do this through BBPress somehow, but after spending hours last night going down rabbit holes on the forum, (they were great knowledge, just too much time involved), I figured just ask 😳🙈😅🤪. I am trying to come as close as I can to mimicking https://www.ncfarmfresh.com/farms.asp . I do not have enough experience, (YET), to know what they are using to do this. I like https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/business-directory/ , but, I have great concern getting locked into expensive updates. I read a seven year old post in this forum, suggesting to someone else asking the same question, that they use custom Post Categories. I thought long and hard on that, but I don’t see where it would work like I am needing. Any solid suggestions?

Hmm, it’s possible there is some sort of conflict happening.

It occasionally happens, for instance, that other plugins (or even your theme) generate additional admin menu entries at exactly the same position used by another plugin (in this case, bbPress). In such a case, one will ‘win’ and the other will not be visible. I don’t know that that is what is happening here, but it’s an example of the sort of conflict that is possible.

Do you have a staging or testing site where you can deactivate all other plugins (except for bbPress) and switch to a default theme—do the admin menu items show up then?

Alternatively, you could make use of the (humorously-named, but useful) poopy.life service to generate a brand new WordPress sandbox. It only stays alive for 24hrs, but that would possibly be enough time to see if you can install bbPress and use it successfully in a ‘clean’ environment. If you can, that would again indicate there is some kind of conflict on your live site.

You could even troubleshoot ‘in reverse’ via this sandbox site, by incrementally adding your theme and other plugins and checking to see if any introduce this particular problem.

I just installed bbpress, but the bbpress menu items are not visible in the wordpress admin dashboard. I tried deactivating all other plugins and even switching themes, but the menu items remain invisible.

In all the post of the forum in general

I mean when someone uploads an image, automatically reduce the size of the youtube video embed content.

For the images, I used this CSS code and works fine

Hi guys,

From some days ago I realised that in the forum of my courses visual editor doesn’t work and in the reaplying area is simply showing html editor as I am showing in this picture: http://i63.tinypic.com/15cyold.png

Before It was working perfectly but all of the sudden something changed, I am using TinyMCE, just in case that gives more information.

Actually I realised that in this forum from BBpress is happening the same, now I am writting and it doesn’t show a regular visual editor..

¿Is there any way to fix this?

Hello, I’m trying to reduce the size of the images posted in the forums and replies, but I just found answers in this forum, from 6 years ago or more, that applies too for the embed and width of video contents. I just see very old answers with classes that don’t even exist in bbpress.

So I ask for a recent or valid answer, how can I change the size of videos and images in the post?

I have taken over an aviation club website from a guy that had stuff spread all over the place.
I’m trying to centralize so that I and those after me can easily manage the site.

I would like to move his phpbb forum to BBPress so I can protect some sections of the forum using MemberPress.

I used Fivvr to try to get it transferred but the guy didn’t really know what he was doing.

I have a phpbb backup and need help migrating.

As an extra challenge, I have a backup from a Yahoo Groups and Facebook group that I would love to migrate into BBPress as well.

This is a small aircraft owner site with less than about 400 members so my budget is not large, but I would like to work with someone to get it done.

I’m trying to figure out how to add shortcodes/bbcode to my bbpress website. I used to do this a lot with phpbb, but I can’t figure out how to do it with bbpress.

I want my users to be able to type in [card]Serra Angel[/card] and have the posted code be <div class=”card”>Serra Angel</div>.

How can I add this? Ideally, it would reside in forum posts as button, much like the LINK IMG CODE etc buttons.

I’m looking for insight into a bbPress point/reward system that can be setup with triggers (like posts, replies, post ratings) and the option to use these points to actually redeem physical items on the backend.

In short, I don’t want a points system that simply hands out badges and titles, but give members the ability to actually participate and use the points they earn to order items like backpacks, giftcards and other items of value under $100.

I have two sites with bbpress and several other WP sites with no bbpress forum….On these two sites my comments get disabled automatically after a few days, so people cant comment anymore….
I could not figure out what is this happening. I suspected themes, other plugins, but what these two sites had in common is your plugin….

So why is your plugin doing this? It ticks the box under setting/discussion

Why is this happening, after disabling bbpres on both sites, comments stay open…..I had my comments disabled for few months, I did not even notice and users could not comment at all….

Using 2.6-rc-7 (and testing against Twenty Seventeen) I don’t seem to experience the same problem: if I locate a copy of that same stylesheet within:

themes/twentyseventeen/css/bbpress.css

It is loaded as expected, instead of the default version.

Hello all.

I have done a fair bit of research on this topic already and have made some progress.

I have managed to get the BBPress importer working on a few occasions (using localhost and also remotely) and I know it’s working because it starts converting the users, then moves on to forums, topics etc.

I did actually manage one full successful import, not sure how exactly but since then I’ve been struggling.

I had to manually create the following blank columns just to get the importer started:

USERS
user_website
user_aim
user_yim
user_icq
user_msnm
user_occ
user_interests
user_from

TOPICS
topic_replies
topic_replies_real

FORUMS
forum_recent_topics
forum_topics
forum_posts
forum_topics_real

More recently the importer just seems to be getting stuck.

I have 1333 users in my forum, after the importer has converted all the users (1300-1399) it just stops. It does actually import all the users correctly but then it doesn’t move on to the next task.

When I don’t include users, it converts the forums and hierarchy, but then freezes on converting topics (0-99).

It just doesn’t seem to be working smoothly.

I am contemplating upgrading the forum from phpbb 3.1.9 to 3.2 using this guide:

Tt seems like a lot of work and I’m not sure it will make such a difference with regards to this task.

If anybody has faced any similar issues doing this import (freezing at certain points, not moving on to the next task etc).

Need the Stylepack form bbpress and going to Design -> Widgets -> Tag-Cloud (Taxonomie: Topic Tags).
