As suggested by InterMike I set up a new fresh combo of both with clean databses on localhost via XAMPP to identify the problem! Guess what? I am still stuck!
bbPress related stuff won’t show in buddypress activity stream.
So either me is an idiot
or I have some problems in understanding the setup for getting it to work. It’s stated that this should work since bbPress RC2 but didn’t work for me til now.
Here’s my setup again:
Install WP 3.2.1
Install bbPress RC2
Install BuddyPress 1.5 Beta2
Disable Discussion Forums in BuddyPress on Installation Wizard
Tried so many things and switched installation orders of bbPress / BuddyPress but that still won’t work. So anyone of the people having the bbPress related stuff working / showing in BuddyPress activitiy stream please show me the way on how to get it working, too.
I think I finally figured this whole bbpress thing out somewhat…finally!
I just need a little help from the community here to add one last thing.
My forum can be viewed here:
http://www.theurbantwist.com/community
Nevermind the “Company Man Comic” banner that’s there now…it’s just a place holder til I get a banner designed strictly for this forum.
I’m used the bbpress plugin and the default bbp-twentyten theme that came with it…nothing fancy. I just updated some of the css code that would apply to make some of the tables fit.
My main question is how could I go about adding a “Recent Topics” list on the front page of forum as seen on this site?
Open Forums
It looks they’re using the same default theme that I am.
Just curious as to how I would list Recent Topics beneath my forum list on the front page. Like what theme files would I have to edit and such.
Appreciate the help.
Thanks
No unfortunately even with RC2 I didn’t get that activity stream working!
This is my setup:
Install WP 3.2.1
Install bbPress (first RC2 then RC3 now latest from trac.wordpress.org)
Install Buddypress (first beta1 then beta2 now latest from trac…)
Disable Discussion forums in Buddypress
With this setup I can’t see any bbPress related stuff in Buddypress activity. I have no other problems with this setup & combo! Am I doing something wrong?
@Gautam-Thanks for letting us know then.
Yeahp, no modifications to the forum or BuddyPress, just using the latest beta/RC versions of both. BuddyPress integration was built-in with bbPress RC2 (https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress/changelog/). Should be working for ya. What’s your site?
you will have to get development trunk version to get it fixed….

I am also using the beta/RC of both! That Means bbpress 2.0RC3 and Buddypress 1.5 beta2. In addition I am also up2date with latest changes by using latest branch / trunk of both via trac.wordpress.org.
As stated earlier I have no problems at all with the combo of both. The only thing that doesn’t work is the fact that any bbpress forum post / topic / reply won’t appear in the buddypress activity stream.
So how did InterMike of allmad.org got this done? Any hint?
If using bbPress 2.0, it obeys your WordPress Gravatar settings.
bbPress plugin is already a lot stable. Its RC 3 is already available to the people and there is just 1 ticket left for 2.0 on the Trac. I think in a few days or weeks time, you’d see the download page flashing 2.0.
Where can I remove the ’home’ portion of the breadcrumbs in bbpress?? I just want it to link back to forums, not all the way to home.
Right now its home >> forums >> etc. >> etc.
I just want forums >> etc. >> etc.
Also, on my title it says the site name | blog on the page the bbpress plugin is at, how do I get rid of that or change it to say forums, not blog.
thanks in advance
Have you considered using the plugin instead of the standalone version?
I realize this question has already been addressed several times:
http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/extra-dropdown-field-in-registration-page
http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/create-a-text-area-or-drop-down-in-the-user-registration-signup
Still can’t seem to find an answer. Happy to pay for a solution to add additional custom dropdown fields to the bbpress registration form, if still no solutions have been offered up by the community. email me at pdvailla [a] yahoo [dt] com if interested.
More than happy to share solution as well, since many folks have requested this.
If I look over at allmad.org then he has definitely a working buddypress activity stream that shows all bbpress actions! So there must be a way to achieve this!
I am exactly in the same situation. You can check in http://www.opes.es/. I am using bbPress 2.0 and I can get buddypress to integrate. Is bbPress 2.0 suppous to interact with BuddyPress 1.5 already? or just not conflict?
Thank you.
May I ask how this is achieved. No matter what I have tried:
I don’t get forum posts of bbPress shown in Activity Stream of BuddyPress. Can anyone clear me up please?
This is the only problem I have…
Hi,
Right now we have a WP-based website. We would like to implement a community solution. Right now we’re looking at bbPress and Vanilla Forums.
I would personally enjoy using bbPress, not Vanilla, but this depends on a vital thing: when stable?
If bbPress will stay in a “unstable” state for a long time (2-3 months), than we’ll go for Vanilla.
So…what is your recommendation?
Thanks!
This is only first version, and I have few more things planned down the road, but it needs testing for now to make sure that everything is OK. So, all bug reports and suggestions are welcome.
anointed: He is talking about bbPress standalone.
polimon: Please go to https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk and when you would scroll down, you would see “Download in other formats: Zip Archive”, click “Zip Archive” and upload the extracted appropriate directory into the appropriate directory on the server.

Nice to see an attachments plugin for bbPress, thanks!
This is intended. There is already a ticket for this in Trac IIRC.
@ Gautam – Where do we get the development trunk version?
