Not that I know of, especially considering the bbPress plugin hasn’t officially been released yet.
So in summary, there is currently no voting/polling system that can work with the bbPress-Plugin?
…. I am just not able to understand the integration stuff… it is beyond me… just wanted to make a nice clean forum and thought I did what was required.. but it does not show. I have the details in the admin side bar of wordpress.. but nothing on the page I made… and when I try to add the widgets to the sidebar, I still have no success… please help me!

Whether or not an existing WordPress plugin will work with bbPress really is going to depend on what that plugin does and how it’s been developed. Lots of plugins work great out of the box, while others behave strangely not just with bbPress, but any custom post type style plugin.
Plugins for bbPress-plugin and bbpress-standalone are different. I don’t expect too many plugins for bbpress-plugin to show up until it’s out of Beta.
I installed wp-polls plugin, and it functions properly on WordPress posts. The little button in the bbPress topic editor also has the insert-poll button in it – so I tried inserting a wp-poll into a bbPress-plugin topic, but it didn’t work! So I guess this means you really do need a separate poll plugin for the bbPress-Plugin version…?
Hi,
I have the plugin version of bbPress for my WordPress site, and would now like certain forum members to be able to both create and vote on polls within bbPress topics.
So I found the bbPress-Polls plugin, but the installation instructions for it mention a ‘my-plugins’ directory in bbPress file structure. Well, this directory might exist for the bbPress standalone, but I cannot find it in the bbPress Plugin file structure.
Is there a way for the bbPress Plugin to have bbPress-Polls or any other polling/voting that attaches directly to topics (not widgets!)?
I suppose I also have a wider question here too – do all plugin that were developed for the standalone version if bbPress also work for the bbPress-Plugin? If so, is it just a matter of creating a directory or just using a different directory? Is there anything profoundly different to the bbPress plugin?
@traveljunkie – Looking into it.
@_ck_ – Thanks. By virtue of WordPress.org Extend we already get a dedicated tag for support questions (which I’m keeping an eye on.) I fear having a specific forum here only calls attention to an issue that doesn’t exist yet. Half of the topics here aren’t in the correct forums anyways.
@JJJ There are already 4300+ downloads of the beta in the past 10 days (because it’s on wordpress.org) and the twitter volume about it has exploded. There is going to be a surge of questions. I’m just suggesting you get ahead of the wave.
Sorry, I meant that my site is still on localhost and that’s merely the theme I bought.
@moshimuncher – I don’t see any bbPress powered forum content on that site at all.
I am trying to integrate the theme found at http://edge.unispheredesign.com/. As you can see, whenever you are on a page, the theme highlights the correct page in the top navigation bar.
Does anyone know why when on any bbpress page, the theme thinks that the user is on the “blog” section? Suggestion on where to begin bug hunting?
Justin’s members plugin beta is perfect!
anointed thank you very much!
@Giulio
That feature is not yet currently available. Actually from my basic understanding of wp user roles, this is going to be a really tough one to tackle.
In general, the way wordPress works is to use actions like read_hidden_forums() where you can then assign that to a specific wp group. The issue comes into play with granular control, i.e. individual forums. Understanding how to extend the control is beyond my knowledge, but will probably be looked into someday.
My own personal plan of attack to solve this is to use buddypress groups to manage the permissions. Each buddypress group can easily have their own admins and moderators. And since each group can have its own forum, then the problem is somewhat solved.
I have not yet done this because I am in no ‘real’ hurry, and personally prefer to wait for buddypress 1.3 before I jump into another huge project.
As the projects mature I think we will start to see many new options popping up.
p.s.
If you are feeling somewhat adventurous, Justin has just released a new beta vs. of members.

Ok, but what about a specific hidden forum, A instead of B?
@Giulio
Yes, Justins plugin works where you choose the group you want to be able to view hidden forums. Once you have chosen the group you want to work with, check the box read_hidden_forums()
That will give the specific group in question the ability to read the hidden forums.
I’d like my new group/role can read only an existing private forum, is it possibile with Justin’s members plugin? I cannot figure out how do it.
I just downloaded and installed bbPress 2.0-beta-2.3 so that I may use it’s forum capabilities in BuddyPress (downloaded the latest version today). However after activating the bbPress I can not access my website – I get the message as follows :
Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_post_type_archive() in /home/bodyw/public_html/healthworks/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-core-compatibility.php on line 446
Does anyone have the slightest idea of what this may mean ? I have tried deactivating all my other plugins to make sure there is no clash but same result. i am using WordPress 3.1.3
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards
Richard
To link to your forum from your wordpress site you have to add a bbPress widget to your sidebar. Pages have nothing to do with bbPress.

Remove the bb-config.php file at the root of your site. Chances are it’s getting in the way. Also there’s a meta entry you’ll most likely want to delete. If there’s anything in your wp_options table prefixed with “bb-” go ahead and delete those. Lastly, your bbPress install needs to exist in a folder that the server can access and that WordPress isn’t trying to control. This is typically a “forums” folder somewhere in your public_html folder, depending on your host.
The language files are different, but people are already translating 2.0 over at translate.WordPress.org.
Probably the place for it to get the most developer discussion is in the Trac. I’ll put it In the 2.1 milestone, since we’re already in beta for 2.0.
