I am trying to install forum and integrate it with the blog. I need to fill in:

1. WordPress address (URL)

2. Blog address (URL)

What is the difference between them?

bruinfelix, your bbpress install looks very good and matches your wordpress side – I don’t understand why you don’t like the theme, it works well.

It would be nice if you released the .mo file – all the other bbPress installs that I can find in your country have “hard coded” their templates directly with the translations which is not good.

You’d be helping many other people and giving back to the community. I noticed you are using several of my plugins so it’s good to give back. The more people use bbPress, the more people will convert other WordPress themes.

The reason these guys are not getting enough help from the likes of CK and others is becuase this is an Autommaticc product, it may be open source, but it’ll get lots of money out of it for any person to help voluntarily… I think they need some programmers and a proper PAID team to develop this,,.. becuase it isn’t going no where. SCROUNGING OF VOLUNTEERS…

besides all that,.. its a good script but i believe Matt Mullenweg and co are going abit cheapo on this.

You know, there’s no good way to say this…

But wouldn’t that sort of table (and i think it’s a great idea) be classed as documentation?

And if so, does anyone expect to see it on the BBpress website? Heck the BBpulp.org wiki that Sam set up a year ago so that we’d have documentation hasn’t been updated for the last 8 releases…

I have just completed a brand new install of R2014, although the issue happens with A1.6 as well. The site works fine with with both database and cookie WordPress integration (WPMU 2.7).

When I add require_once( dirname(__FILE__) .’/../wp-blog-header.php’ ); to my bb-config.php I get the following error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function hide_errors() on a non-object in /home/site/public/wp-includes/functions.php on line 345, referer: http://mydomain.com/forums/

Line 345 is $wpdb->hide_errors(); within function get_option

Obviously my BB install has not fully loaded up my WP environment. I have tried all sorts of ways to get this to work without any luck.

I even tried to build my bbPress templates by reproducing the WP functions I need but found that meant I need to re-write a huge portion WP which seems silly and a huge waste of time. Although the 8 hours I have spent trying to solve this might have built a fair bit .

Any tips on how to sort this out?

I just had a similar event. Using IE & FF that i had previously logged in to bbpress/wordpress and then logged out, i couldn’t get the registration form to work. But when i close the browser and reopen then the form works. This is with the alpha bbpress and 2.7 WP

Not sure if this is really a problem, as it stops someone repeatedly registering in the same session, but worth knowing. Thanks

i’ve looked around but haven’t found a solution for a language switcher — i.e. a plugin or instructions on how to make it possible for the user to load different localizations of the bbpress. there were some threads about integrating bbpress with wordpress etc., but i am interested in a purely bbpress solution.

any tips will be greatly appreciated

Hi, I just installed WP MU 2.7 and am trying to merge it with the latest bbpress install but have some major confusion with the config file secret keys. In new 2.7+ versions of WordPress and WPMU there is no mention of SECRET_KEY or SECRET_SALT, the config instead lists the following 7 keys:

define(‘SECURE_AUTH_KEY’, ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’);

define(‘LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’);

define(‘NONCE_KEY’, ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’);

define(‘AUTH_SALT’, ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’);

define(‘LOGGED_IN_SALT’, ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’);

define(‘SECURE_AUTH_SALT’, ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’);

While the BBPRESS config only lists one key:

Which key in WPMU 2.7+ is equivalent to BB_SECRET_KEY?

Or, do i now need to define all 7 of the WordPress secret keys in bbpress as well? Eg. BB_AUTH_KEY, BB_SECURE_AUTH_KEY, BB_LOGGED_IN_KEY, etc…

Any help clearing up this config confusion would be great. Thanks!

Silly question but did you rebuild the .mo file?

The po/mo on the automattic svn is very outdated and is from 0.8

Try this version which has many more stings, even thought it’s for 1.0 it might work well on 0.9

I haven’t seen an answer to that question yet. There are issues with integration and the alpha versions (and to be fair, it is alpha software which no one has recommended we use.)

I run an integrated bbpress / wordpress site. It has been live for about a year. I check in at least ever 2-3 weeks or so, but infrequently based on most standards.

I tried logging into my bbpress site (cross log-in has never worked for me) using my administrator ID, and I get an error ‘user does not exist.’

I tried loggin in as other users (moderator, subscriber, etc.) and I get the same error for those as well.

I cleared cache, retried – same results.

I try logging into the WP side & can login without problem. I can get to my WP dashboard (2.5.1 btw) but not my bbpress dashboard (0.8.x – can’t recall & can’t access my dashboard).

I did try the ‘reset’ PW option from the WP side for one of my failed bbpress users. It gave me a new PW, and still not able to login to the bbpress side.

I see the database still has all of the users in wp-users, and the passwords are updating.

The last action I took ‘knowingly’ was to delete a spammer user ID from my role about 2 weeks ago. I tried logging in a couple days later & no access. I’m not saying it is correlated…

I also remember fumbling through my Yahoo domain management page, and I recall resetting the PW for one of my DB’s (but not my wp DB).

So – I’m inclined to think that I either accidentally reset an administrative PW that allows the link between BB and WP to hit the same wp-users table?

Or – something far more nefarious from my spammer friends (who seem to be the ONLY readers of my blog…thank you!).

At least the system can find the file now.

The Cannot redeclare errors are usually because a function of the same name has already been declared, thus it can’t be redeclared.

What versions did you integrate?

hey chris, thanks i just did that.. but i still get an error, it some what smaller though but its this:-

Try using the file path to the file rather than a relative path. The system is telling you it can’t find the file in that location. Try this:

Im using the latest alpha version, My wordpress is on root, and my forum is on a folder called /community.

You can set a cookie and make it semi-permanent.

Because there is also a filter in that function, you do not need to hack the core.

You would make a mini-plugin something like this

You still have to write the code to make some kind of pulldown/menu to select the language and set the cookie.

There is a language switcher for wordpress that could be ported to bbPress, I think there was some talk about it around here and someone else made their own too.
