    Thanks chrishajer.

Since I did not yet open the forum, I don’t see a reason to try and patch it to work. (especially when I don’t know how people are supposed to login if I remove the TEMPLATE)

I hope the issue will be resolved soon, so I could open up the forum :)

    Cheers,

    Tal.

Did you put your custom themes into folder under the my-templates directory?

Have you viewed this sticky and this was no help?

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/693?replies=2

Also, please provide a URL where this can be seen. Sounds like the path to the CSS is borked. The URL also helps someone determine what sort of hosting you’re using.

After I upgraded my forum to v0.8.1, the CSS for any theme no longer works. I get a 500 error when trying to access any CSS file for a theme. I have tried chmodding everything and I just don’t know what to do.

Got this working splendidly…Here’s the link:

    http://www.babyquestions101.com/forums/

I would love any comments on the look/feel of the site. Feel free to drop me a line on the contact form and share comments/suggesstions.

One quick suggestion to those implementing this: If you have the luxury of installing this BEFORE you implement a complex CSS design, it’s best. Many of my classes became obsolete when I installed the plugin, because the hierarchy of the pages with the forum/subforum lists changed.

This, of course, was expected, and normal. However, it will just save a redesign once you’ve implemented this new versatility. (Of course, installing this plugin just two days before launch wasn’t exactly conducive to allowing me to take it a little break).

Maker, Yes indeedy…this is definitely SamBauers plugin being used. It’s great. Be sure to read the whole thread, because if you don’t update every forum by adding it to a category, then you WILL suffer the consequences! (you’ll get some nifty mysql errors until you fix it).

Also, my suggestion to ANYONE using this patch…use it BEFORE you implement your design. I had quite a few things that had to change when I implemented it, as the post/category/forum hierarchy was quite a bit different from teh standard install. My CSS classes got ALL out of whack.

    Good luck!

This is a problem with the path to the CSS, check the source:

    http :// vindicationdurotan.combbpress/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css

That backslash should not be there. There have been a couple threads about this lately:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/795

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/820

IE can deal with the backslash but FF cannot. Once you correct that slash problem, things will look fine in FF.

The forums here and the blog are done with CSS and their own themes meant to look the same. The tutorials are a way to have bbPress using the WP theme itself I believe.

Yeah John, it would be nice for sure! The thing is that most people use bbPress standalone and not WP integrated. It isn’t too bad just getting used to CSS and editing the template of your theme at bbPress. Just changes to header.php, footer.php, front-page.php and style.css mainly! Good luck!

Here are a couple of good places to start (I have never done this, just edit CSS and template to match myself):

What I’m probably going to do is, just use the CSS file codes that I had, for when using the Forum Category enhancement with my bbPress forums. It’s not going to be a big deal if those Forum Category CSS codes are in the stylesheet anyway.

For those running the Forum Cat enhancement, or not, I’ll release a Gathering theme version for either route. A) One for the plain Jane bbPress users, and B) One for those that are already using the Forum Category enhancement. ;) :)

Please note though, that this theme will be an AS-IS type of deal!!

I’ll try to give a helping hand, and try my best to provide “support” for it, but, I’m just a really, really busy person sigh. I barely have time to sleep and stuff… :( Besides, if any problems arise, your answers should be, or, could easily be answered here, since it’s basically just a theme. If you happen to have issues with the Forum Cat enhancement patch itself, I’m sure Sam would be happy to help you.. :) ;)

Anyway, here’s what’s on my TO-DO list, starting now!

    1) Delete all the current plugins on my forums, so I have a total plain Jane bbPress install to work with…

    2) On the localhost/computer .. make up the “Gathering” theme on the latest Trunk files of bbPress. With, and without the files containing the Forum Cat enhancement edits… (Again, this theme should (generally) still work for .80, however, not sure about the backwards compatibility for the forum Categories enhancement though)…

    3) Download the latest copies of the plugins I deleted, tweak the new ones, upload and install them…

    4) Try and get some kinks out of the theme, which happens when using some certain plugins sigh..

    5) Release two copies of the Gathering theme, one for plain Jane bbPress users, and one for those already using the Forum Category enhancement…

    6) Then I’ll probably apply the theme I just spent the last 3 days on, non-stop, which I put up on my Vindictive Bastard blog… I’ll apply that on my spencerp.net blog then too.. and make it a theme for bbPress as well … whee! What you think? http://www.vindictivebastard.net/

    7) I’ll try and actually get some sleep!! Geesh, I’m beat!

Anyway, I’ll keep everyone updated on this.. thanks for your time..

That is unstyled because the path to the style.css file is incorrect. Can you look at the source of that html page and find the line that begins:

    <link rel="stylesheet"

My guess is that the path to your stylesheet is incorrect. There have been a couple threads about slashes being changed to back slashes improperly:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/700?replies=28

    Even more relevant for localhost:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/730?replies=9

Here is a trac ticket for the backslash issue:

    https://trac.bbpress.org/ticket/594

    HTH

edit: there will not be slashes before the double quotes in your html source around stylesheet , unlike this post. It’s a bug they’re working on.

    Ok thanks…

I installed that plug in for the wrong headed slashes but it is still same.

I cant see my site styled on FF2…

    This is the site

Could it be the reason that i see my site unstyled on Firefox2 ? You can see the slashes arent arranged in order. Some of them head to left and some of them right ?

I was only going off this reply by peiqinglong (different user?):

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/643?replies=17#post-3815

    Trent,

That’s the problem, there is no box to uncheck them anywhere in their individual profile, where they are listed as Bozos, etc.

“No box to uncheck” was the part I caught. I’ve seen it mentioned before too and wondered if that was part of the real problem. (edit: maybe since this is a few weeks old this is the one I was remembering)

This was a different, but possibly related problem (where unchecking the box never “stuck” – you’d always be a bozo – that was in 0.73 though I think):

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/312?replies=4#post-1525

Also, I didn’t follow this from mdawaffe:

There’s nothing in the admin for this (sad, I know).

You need to edit that user’s profile.

But, as key master you CAN edit the user’s profile, from admin. So I didn’t follow this part either.

I thought the crux of the problem was that there were no boxes visible in the admin, where I have boxes, as expected. That is all :)

edit: PLEASE change the style.css to include some styling for [blockquote] – my quotes were quoted up there but you can’t tell. Indent, different font, different BG color, something.

yeah, this forum is still online, feel free to play, I’ve been testing in this thread, but my css needs updating as not all effects are visiable (i.e. quotes are marked up in html, but css show’s white on white – doh !)

I know there are only a couple of us viewing this on the weekend and I am not sure what to change to get the CSS changes for colors. The only thing we have so far for editing the size is:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/67?replies=5#post-295

The color is determined by the #hottags portion of style.css in your theme! There you can change a few color things around!

    Topic: No Stylesheet

    in forum Troubleshooting
    marky
    Member

I recently installed bbPress to localhost to experiment before I put it on a live site. Strangely, the stylesheet was being ignored. Looking at the source brought up this:

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://localhost#support/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css" type="text/css" />

Edit: OK, I can’t seem to type a backslash here, but the # symbol in the above code snippet is actually a backslash (opposite of /)

I have no idea why the slash after localhost is backwards. It appears correctly in all other locations. For what it’s worth, here is the relevant section of my config.php file:

// If your bbPress URL is http://bbpress.example.com/forums/ , the examples would be correct.
// Adjust the domain and path to suit your actual URL.
// Just the domain name; no directories or path. There should be no trailing slash here.
    $bb->domain = 'http://localhost'; // Example: 'http://bbpress.example.com'
// There should be both a leading and trailing slash here. '/' is fine if the site is in root.
    $bb->path = '/support/'; // Example: '/forums/'

    Any help?

It looks nice and clean, although, I notice in your own forum it doesn’t currently validate. Once you get that all happy, don’t forget to validate the css too.

I just upgrade my bbpress to 0.8. Here is what I did

    1. I download the new version and copied to my server to replace all the old files.

    2. Then I copied my old directories: my-plugins and my-templates, and I follow the instruction and move all previous my templates files to a subdirectory called mybbpress under my-templates.

    3. But my forum is using the default bbpress theme

    http://www.travelsuperlink.com/forum/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css

    4. and I login to my admin panel, only find Dashboard, Users, Content, cannot find any Presentation Admin panel.

    Anybody could help? many thanks.

    my forum is http://travelsuperlink.com/forum

We all know that the AutoMattic guys use their own stuff, but after each site has been skinned with all their CSS magic, sometimes it’s hard to see… I thought we should savour the moment the wordpress.org forums ran with the default bbpress theme ;)

    Good work tracking that down!

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="http:/forums.pfdebate.com/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css" type="text/css" />

What really is strange for me is safari on Mac OS X shows the page correctly anyways. What a smart browser.

Why that link is like that and the rest of the content is showing up right is strange though.

    Viewing source I noticed this:

    http:/forums.pfdebate.com/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css

You’re missing the second: / in the beginning of the URL:

    http://forums.pfdebate.com/bb-templates/kakumei/style.css

Check the config.php file would be my guess..

    Topic: Unique Style Sheet?

    in forum Themes
    macwise
    Member

    Hi all,

I am currently configuring BBPress for my site at http://www.babyquestions101.com’s forum, and by the looks of it it’s very promising.

I am trying to figure out if I can call a specific stylesheet for a specific page by making that call in the body page.

For instance, I know how to call multiple stylesheets through header.php. However, I would like to be able to specify a stylesheet through a page like forum.php, so that it dynamically tells header.php to call the stylesheet specific (or unique) to that page. I want this so that I can lean up my code, instead of calling everything in one css file.

    #53582

The only reason the replies argument is there is for CSS: a quick and dirty way of differentiating between topics you’re up to date on and those you’re not (via a:visited { … }).

We should probably make sure we always 301 redirect to the latest URL.

Oh, and PS: Posts do have their own URL. This one’s is
