    Hello

I am running a site with buddypress and Bbpress.

I have activated the bbp style pack. I have noticed the feature that allows to redirect to the index of the forum after submit new topic or reply. Would you have a solution to rather redirect to my buddypress newsfeed page (mysite.fr/newsfeed) ?

    Thanks.

bbpress just uses WordPress registration and login.

    so either :

    1. You allow uses to register using dashboard>settings>discussion>anyone can register, bbpress will allocate the role set in dashboard>settings>forums>default role

    2. you manually add uses (dashboard>users>add user) upon receipt of a form (using say a form plugin – https://www.isitwp.com/best-wordpress-contact-form-plugins/ – to set up whatever details you want which is then emailed to you) – you then then allocate any wp and bbpress role you wish, or none !

    3. you use a registration plugin – there are lots – this article describes some https://kinsta.com/blog/wordpress-user-registration-plugins/

So I guess I’m not understanding how this all works. The website is a photography club and is wordpress.org. I just added this bbPress forum plugin and have all the forums set up. I’m ready to test with two other people. I now need to have a place were the two others can register, I then want an email so I can review and approve them. How do i accomplish this? After that I think the login page with the shortcode provided by Robin W should work.

    Hello.

I am trying to build a forum site for a group authors and I can not get the structure I would like. Hopefully, someone can help me get where I want to be with this.

I have two forum level entries. Call them Stories and Support.

An Author goes to the Stories level and creates a ‘Work in Progress’ or Story. This is also the Topics level. At this level the Author gives information about the Story.

Next he / she creates a Chapter. The Chapter level is writable ONLY to the Author who created the Story / Topic.

The Replies level anyone who has an account on the site can create.

I would like similar for the Support forum.
I create topics like Coaches, Publishers, Cover Artists, etc.
People who would like to offer their services as a coach or other creates a detail page that only they can modify, but others can reply with reviews, etc.

I hope this makes sense to everyone. Can this be done with bbPress? If so, how?

    Thanks!

I kicked this around for some time, but I cannot see how to get bbpress working with a block theme.

I have raised a ticket on trac.

This is all part of WordPress’s mission to make it’s software totally unusable.

It has been reported to the bbpress authors.

Just looked and I created a small plugin here http://www.rewweb.co.uk/download/bbp-mentions-suggest/

this says that it ‘Adds the Buddypress mentions suggest as you type to bbpress topics and replies’

so I got the idea from somewhere that it was a bp feature.

It was sometime ago that I wrote/copied this, so have no memory of whether it still works !

sorry, test was invalid – I had my test user with too many privileges!

So, users who can ‘Throttle’ (see https://codex.bbpress.org/getting-started/before-installing/bbpress-user-roles-and-capabilities/ for list) bypass the duplicate check – so likely that if you were testing you will have that capability.

Can you comer back if you still have an issue.

@carasse64, I use bbPress with BuddyPress too and I have never seen @name “completion” on my site. I don’t think it’s actually a feature of BuddyPress (or the bbPress/Buddypress combination), although I’ve seen it on some other types of forums. So I would not expect to see that list. Of course I could be wrong.

(Sorry to continue the BP discussion here 🙂

    Hi,

I have created a forum using bbPress and uploaded the ForumPress theme. I have not made changes to any core files. I have added 1 snippet to show Advanced TinyMCE Editor for all users in frontend. At first or after adding that snippet too, Whenever I post a duplicate content/topic, it shows as Duplicate Topic detected. But after WordPress Update to 5.9.3, it is not showing any error messages and accepting the duplicate topics, replies, etc.

I have tried all solutions from your forum and other websites, nothing helped. Please help me resolve this issue.

it could be a theme or plugin issue

    Themes

As a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwenty, and see if this fixes.

    Plugins

If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

If you cannot do this to your site (say because it is live) then use the ‘troubleshooting’ features of this plugin to let you test without affecting other users

    Then come back

    Hello

I enjoy the design of the bbpress.org form with his different columns (Forums / Support/ Views…).

Is it possible to get the same design on my web site ?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I have disabled all plugin except theme Sydney and the bbPress plugin.
PHP warnings still come up when submitting/save a forum entry.

thanks, I’ve just loaded sydney 2.02 onto my test site, and I can create forums.

Can you confirm that you only have the theme and bbpress active?

If so, can you just confirm exactly what you are doing as a series of steps, eg dashboard>forums>add new…….. etc.

    hmmm…

Possibly a theme or plugin conflict

    Hello Community,
    I have the following environment:
WordRess 5.9.2; PHP 8.0.17; Themes Sydney 2.02 and bbPress 2.6.9

Everything has worked so far for installation. Only when creating a forum, that is when saving I get the following PHP warnings in the php file capabilities.php.

Warning: Undefined property: stdClass::$edit_page in /homepages/13/d341475975/htdocs/clickandbuilds/TheRaceDaysStuttgart/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 172

    But apparently everything works.

Any idea how to turn it off east?

    check the moderation settings in

dashboard>settinfs>discussion>comment moderation – it is usually the number of links

    This plugin does useful moderation

    WordPress 5.9.2, bbPress 2.6.9, http://musgravelandingstrata.community (private site)

How can i control whether a topic, after being submitted, is held for moderation?
Also, how can i ensure that forum moderators are automatically notified (via email?) if a topic is held for their moderation?

Ours is a small and private community site. There’s no reason for posts to be held, but we’ve noticed some are. Recently, some of my posts, direct copies of rich content from an email i received were held. I’m thinking it might be related to some type of formatting unknown to the editor but i’m not sure…

    thanks for your help!

Oh you’re right i thought it was specific to bbpress, if it is standard wordpress login i will find a plugin for that thank you 🙂

    bbpress just uses wordpress login.

But since you can stay logged in, any plugin which would log users would need to activate on each page and do a database write, which might be site affecting (or not!).

Any wordpress login visit plugin would do the job, but I suspect there are precious few – but google around and if you find one with a shortcut to display it should be easy to hook up.

    Hi

On forums we usually have a column with views counts for every topic

Not on bbpress, i think that would be a great addon to see how much topics are popular

has this been done somewhere ?

    thanks

    Hi

We have tested all cache systems

Best cache plugin is LiteSpeed Cache

this plugin is also made for bbpress 🙂

(works even better with a litespeed server you can get at Hostinger for instance)

sorry, I’m not a bbpress author, but if they put in all the ideas, then you would have this plugin, just built into bbpress 🙂
