Just made a small plugin for it.
You can download it on http://eris.nu/wordpress/bbpress.
Please note that only if the database of your blog is not the same as the forum you need the data about the database information. The prefix, url are always required.
Please try out for testing later on i will add some improvements so you can load directly data from the config of bbpress instead enter it in a form.
Later on I will add it to the WP plugin database.
Hi All,
I’m new to using BBpress (first post)
I have been reading up on the difference of simple and deep integration and have become a little confused over the subject.
I want to have a simple integration so that users logins will be sync’d between WP + bbpress possibly with a single login area via WP – trying to create a closed / private environment.
If you install bbpress in a sub folder of WordPress is this effectively deep integration?
And is it possible to create a sync’d log-in (ie if you log in/out of WP it also logs you in/out of BBpress) using simple integration
sorry if it sounds a stupid question but I just want to understand where best to have the bbpress install running from to prevent slow load times due to excessive overheads on the server.
Not fussed about themes as I can do all the css and design for these and make them look the same.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Nope! You should try this plugin (if its working with v1) https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/hidden-forums/

I use the Hidden Forums plugin and hide everything. I use the Members Online plugin to display users who are currently online. I followed ck’s instructions to only show that list to registered members.
Hidden Forums:

Theme looks nice and bold.
Will you release it for public? I would like to improve it and use it. Will save me a lot of time.

@Rich Pedley – Yes. I think I lost the ability to login at 2814. /wp-admin redirects me to /login, which gives me an error saying the page cannot be found.
Got the same problem, I have a maintenance plugin running and now I cannot enter my wp-admin, because it redirects to login. Gonna remove this redirect, hope this gets optional in the backend.
Edit: I rather think it was 2815.
Edit 2: By editing bbp-includes/bbp-hooks.php and taking away line 257:260, you will have access to your wp-admin again. If not, totally remove the function in bbp-includes/bbp-general-functions.php 998:1040.
I know this thread is old, but I’m glad I found it. I ran into the same problem as mentioned above, being new to buddypress/bbpress only made things worse, but I follow Dolugen’s tips by deleting a few rows in the DB and I can log in again. *Thank you* Dolugen.
If anyone can help me, or point me towards the right direction, on how to integrate WP/buddypress/bbpress I would really appreciate it.
Nothing too fancy, just a customization of “Kakumei”. Check it out:

I was trying to include my blogfeed under my bbpress forum by I could not get it to access the document. Is it possible to use include in bbpress to access wp files like sidebars and such?
This is how I write it:
‘<?php include (“http://www.mydomain.com/wp-content/themes/mytheme/newsfeed.php”); ?>’
Is there something wrong with this or why is this not working?
@ ricardouk
Uhm, not that I don’t understand you, but you do need to understand that we as developers need to eat too, so I don’t mind that extra’s on a cms/platform are only optional for developers.
And the greatest things in life just aren’t free.
That said, I do believe the bbPress WordPress plugin will get an easy intergration eventually.

I have this problem now. I am doing a remake of the kakumei-theme and a have just got a hold on a sv_SE.mo, swedish that is, file witch I have copied into bbpress/my-languages.
I have changed the bb-config.php string to
define( ‘BB_LANG’, ‘sv_SE)’ );
But nothing is happening, still english. What am i doing wrong? Does there need to be some bbpress template tag in the header that I accidentally deleted or something like that?
Really need some input!
i’ve been following the chat on the bbpress plugin thread and altough JJJ said somewhere that it will be possible it reallly doesnt seem (to me) that the plugin is going that way.
wordpress will use one theme and bbpress as a plugin will need its own theme.
@devs
dont read my comments as destructive but i feel as a user the need to voice my opinion, as a user i dont have the “god like” ability to master css/php or port my wordpress theme to a bbpress theme, its like you’re creating a forum plugin and making it difficult to use or integrate visually with wordpress…a forum plugin only for the “code masters”. try and go the simple:press or mingle forum way or have that possibility.

Hey what do you mean by the new bbpress won’t be “theme integration friendly”? I’m looking for a forum that will easily integrate with my wordpress site. I was going to hold out for this new bbpress plugin, but I’m curious to know what you’re talking about. Does that mean it’s going to be difficult to make the new bbpress theme match your existing theme’s look?

I’d say it would be unlikely on WordPress.org for quite some time, but I could be wrong.
