Does BBPress have an option for registered members to see unread posts since their last visit?
I understand that this theme isn't readily downloadable, but is it available for purchase? I wouldn't mind putting a bit of cash up to get it
@RegNatarajan
Have you tried this?

hi,
I don’t know what’s going on but the site is acting weird from time to time (seems bugged)
. Few days ago I couldn’t register and now it seems I can’t post comments in the plugin page.
Anyways, I just recently discovered bbpress and it immediately caught my attention.
I tried to install the following plugin http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/facebook-graph-connect/ but I’m having some troubles with it. once I have followed the instructions I tried to test it by register via it, so I accepted the FB app req. and then when I got ‘re-directed’ to my site it just kept refreshing and wouldn’t stop. So I went back in to deactivate it however now my forum has ‘disappeared’. you can’t see any of the forums unless you login nor the search bar etc. just wondering if I could get some help. I know it’s in beta and all but if there is a fix let me know otherwise I’ll have to re install bbpress
* reason to I’m posting this here is of course because I can’t post on the plugin page itself, as I explained above.. weird bug:P
he is using some jquery to style the forums listing and using a plugin for adding icons before the titles. It looks pretty much good because of the styling which can be easily done on bbPress, unlike many other forums out there.

I’m about to move 1 of my sites from Geeklog 1.6 to WP 3.04… I got the users over pretty much. However, I am 100% clueless on how to get the forum board posts moved over. Anyone have any expertise in doing this? Not sure if Geeklog speaks the same language as WP or the BBpress forum boards. Anybody that could help me or point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot!
I created a user for my bbPress forum and I could login as this user in bbPress, but not in WP. After I checked (logged as admin in WP) the account of this user in WP blog, I saw that it has no role. So in bbPress settings I set the correspondance between WordPress role and bbPress (Settings->WordPressIntegration menu). And problem was solved. Now each user that is registered through bbPress can loggin in WP.
Maybe this will help.

First off, I am new to bbpress forums. Secondly, I was in the market for a WordPress theme so I was visiting Themefuse.com. I was in their Support Forum and really loved it’s usefulness, yet simplicity. I asked the owner what forum it was and he said bbpress.
My question is this – is that forum an “out of the box” forum or is he using a lot of plugins. Like for instance, the main forum, when you click on a board it slide open to show sub forums. Is that a plugin?
Also, when you login it will show my personal topics in a box in the sidebar. Again, a plugin?
He also uses a Resolved/Not Resolved for his threads – a plugin?
Sorry so many questions – trying to learn before diving right in.
I want a search for searching over my forum topics from within a private group. The overall group search seems to work fairly well identifying keywords in the group descriptions, but when I drill down into the group and see 50 Forum topics, it would be nice to be able to search over those 50 Topics for a keyword “facebook” and return all the topics that have that keyword mentioned in it’s thread.
Most of my groups are private, so obviously you’d have to be a member of the group to even get to the forum page and perform a search.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Is there a function for telling if there’s new posts. Just checking before I write one.
So is anybody attempting to make this theme? Please do.
Adam Kayce Says in this forum post:
Apostrophe and or quotation marks cause backslash to appear.
Never mind – I got it, thanks to an old post from two years ago.
The code has changed a bit, so here’s how I fixed it:
1) open up /bb-includes/functions.bb-template.php
2) replace line 1074 with:
return stripslashes(apply_filters( ‘get_topic_title’, $topic->topic_title, $id ));
3) and line 1782:
return stripslashes(apply_filters( ‘get_post_text’, $bb_post->post_text, $bb_post->post_id ));
That did the trick for me.
{This worked for me,too. It worked on the front end and back end.}
what you want is deep integration. Follow this page – http://blog.ashfame.com/bbpress/ and you will find related articles on how you can do it, pros & cons and how to show bbPress info on WordPress side.
Similarly you can show WordPress info on bbPress side too.

I ran into a filter problem when trying to change it for just on the admin side but if you just want to change the whole language of the forum, you easily can – Install / Change bbPress to a different language
1) Yes but not really soon after the v1.2 plugin launch
2) Yes you can chain such conversions. vb4 to bbPress and then this bbPress to bbPress plugin v1.2
3) They will become better over time
4) Not sure about that. Keep backups and hit on with the process.

you are trying to have both the approaches altogether. either you can display forum inside your WordPress by deep integration or just select a theme which matches to your WordPress on a regular standalone install.
BuddyPress forums is what you will have with deep integration theme matching in terms of look

I have a WP project with a well-established vBulletin forum which I would, in a perfect world, pull into bbPress/BuddyPress to tightly integrate with WP. I am not asking for a vBulletin importer for bbPress 1.2. I know that is a beast that is probably not worth slaying at the moment for Automattic.
With this frame of reference, I have a few questions re: bbPress 1.2 (the plugin). I have done some searching on these forums and have not found answers yet. If they exist, please point me to them.
- I assume 1.2 will cleanly upgrade from previous versions of bbPress. However, reading some of @JJJ’s posts, it looks like 1.2 may function more like a CPT plugin where everything is stored in the posts table. Is this the case? If so, will a clean migration from prior versions be possible?
- Assuming this clean upgrades are part of 1.2, would it be safe to say that following (and improving upon) some of the more cumbersome vBulletin -> bbPress migration paths (link below) would still work?
LINK: http://tinyurl.com/vb4-to-bbp
- Much has been made about how the bbPress used in BuddyPress is not really inline with the core bbPress code. Given it’s apparent design direction, is it safe to say that the 1.2 and the BuddyPress forums will effectively merge and become one code base, whether or not BuddyPress is active? If not, how will they differ?
- Are there any other glaring roadblocks to vBulletin migration that I am simply not seeing?
I am considering writing (or more likely funding the development of) a vBulletin importer script for bbPress 1.2. If I decide to go that route, I plan to give the importer back to the community. So, the goal of these questions is to help me gauge the feasibility and scope of such a project.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
