Well if I had half your talent I would… might make me millions.. :-) but after the fall foliage season is over if you want more info on this I’ll be glad to sit down and try to be real specific in what it should do…

If not I’ll do as I do now and make sure I’m subscribed to each topic and that way I get an email. I can’t tell from the dashboard under topics which one is which and the same for replies.

So if I go in from the back end (dashboard) I will spend quite a while trying to locate a specific reply to edit or answer.. So I always go in through the front end and reply to the person that way.

I just would like to have unanswered replies (by me) to be more evident.

Oh and I think I need to thank you since in some part, that your bbpress has helped me hit the 10,000 view mark (started the site this past April) and I beleive I’m getting great SEO from the forum…

Did I mention I’m running this in prime time? :-) I sure hope it doesn’t break before November… ;-)

I have this problem, but for the life of me can’t find anything to do with the term menu_position or custom post types to fix the conflict ?

Where do you look and what do you need to change ?

It’s it an amendment to the code ? or is it a field the database ?

    Help would be much appriciated.

    With thanks

I can’t seem to locate where the words EDIT and DELETE and pulled from.

I want to change them to images, see this page for an example of how QUOTE looks

Thanks so much for your help

Tushar, I’d really appreciate if you could create a new topic for your issue and also post the problem you’re facing while installing bbPress 2.0 on WordPress. Thanks!

As to the no right click and also the no dragging an image off to the desk top.

I have a lot of photography on my site and while the measures I take only really keep the honest people honest since it those folks who grab my pictures to put on their blogs and pages… I like them to at least ask or rent the image..

But I do not care if you see the source for the page and I will deactivate the right click protection if that helps you out.

I feel it has to do with a third party toolbar for bbpress. This allows images to be uploaded (and as a photographer I desire this function and I want my users to be able to upload what they see on their touring around New England) When I take the pictures out of a topic it fixes the topic.

But I feel because the images are too large (I’m going to recommend he look to force the image to resize to the window)

I have turned off the disable on right clicks so feel free to see what is going on.

You may say and rightly so that this is the toolbar person’s responsibility to fix and I’m sure he will but I thought it should be something you knew about that way you can look into it and see if there is some code that you need to fix on your end to ensure that third party writers can’t upset the CSS with their code efforts.

    Topic: Tiny Avatars

My user avatars look great when they appear on an individual topic page, but on the page where it lists all the topics in a forum they are tiny (14×14 px)

I’m using an unmodified WP bbPress plugin and I uploaded the avatars with the “Simple Local Avatars” WP plugin. Anyone know why they would look good in the topics page but tiny on the list page?

    @catlawsonNHS

I have used this plugin for my bbpress which was integrated along with wordpress MU, and it worked perfectly.

Yes, this plugin is for the standalone bbpress, not for wordpress.

Sorry for the late response as I was concentrating completely on some other things.

I have searched for hours and I can’t make sense of how to customize a forum when using bbpress that was installed as a WP plug in.

I want to do two things:

    1) get rid of the part that says “This forum contains 2 topics and 3 replies, and was last updated by John John 8 hours ago.”

    2) I want to make the forum page wider than the default page width for my WordPress theme.

This seems like these should be very simple customization, but I just can’t figure out how to do it. Can someone point me to where I could learn step by step how to do this?

    thanks,

    Tom

I am a relative novice, so forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place. I searched and didn’t see an appropriate topic.

On my bbPress Forum page, I have used shortcodes as follows:

    [bbp-login]

    [bbp-register]

    bbp-lost-pass]

    [bbp-topic-index]

The topic index overlays other text on the page, specifically, “Viewing 2 topics – 1 through 2 of 2.”

The url is http://bulimiatips.org/forum-2/ if you wish to see what I am talking about.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and how to fix it?

    Thanks.

Sticky order is based on the last post time, and bbPress treats them differently than other forum software does. They aren’t “super stickies” or “announcements” but rather stickies that appear at the top of the topic index, or are “Stuck to Front.”

A newer update for bbpress-2.0-rc-4 has been made.

If you have the time to properly integrate your themes, go for the plugin. If not, then standalone and migrate later (only if you’re integrating the user tables if you have a WP blog). :)

    Hi all,

I have searched the forums but can find nothing that discusses permalinks for the latest version install of WordPress and the BBpress plugin.

This is the issue: I have set up WordPress and then installed the BBpress plugin via the plugin installer.

I have added add_theme_support( ‘bbpress’ ); to my theme and then built all the template pages required so that bbpress functions.

Here is the issue which I need help with:

With the Permalinks set to DEFAULT the integration works with no issues at all. However when I turn on pretty permalinks whilst the main forum page and topic pages work the USER and USER edit pages return a page not found.

I have looking at the SINGLE SLUG area and adjusted but I just resolve the 404 errors for these particular areas.

The one thing I did try is to set up a page called USER with he BBPRESS code. THis worked for the View page but not for the edit page.

    Any help appreciated.

    Here’s my dilemma:

I need to add a forum section to one of my sites ASAP. I have experience using the stand alone version of bbPress as I use it for two different sites and I feel comfortable using it. I’ve been testing the plugin version, which looks great but honestly I don’t have the time right now to look into it very much and I’m feeling a bit frustrated trying to make it work as I want to.

My question is: Should I go with the stand alone version until things are stable enough and then migrate to the plugin version or am I getting myself into more trouble in the long run?

Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That won’t be a good fix. Looking into making the redirect smarter.

    Hi guys ,

I couldn’t install v2 rc4 in my wordpress (latest version with mysql5 and php5). I have this error:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 32505856) (tried to allocate 77824 bytes) in /plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-common-template.php on line 1572

Any chance to resolve this problem without increasing my php memory? I just increased it up to 40MB with php.ini because of other plugins and my host (1&1) told me that 40 MB is the max they allow.

    Thanks in advance

    A.

Marking resolved, as I’ve figured it all out.

Another good read from @theurbantwist regarding theme issues:

bbpress adds the prefix forum, topic and reply in each of those custom post types.

    For instance:

“Topic: This is a new topic.”

I think I know the reason of adding this feature, but it looks pretty ugly in search results and when you share the topics on facebook.

Is there any way of removing them?

    Hey John,

    sorry to re-open this thread.

i just found something interesting, the »tags« page (ie: https://bbpress.org/forums/tags/stylesheet) is the only one which doesn’t recognize the is_bbpress() check.
