    @shooo

With a site that large and complex, I would probably suggest contacting AWJunkies on his bbconverter site and simply pay to have him convert it personally for you. He has converted sites much lareger than yours without problems. Frankly he’s a wizard with databases, so might as well have an expert take care of it for you. We’re not talking a lot of money here anyhow, and it will save any frustration you are having.

1a. Has this site (bbpress.org/forum) been converted to bbPress 2 yet?

    1b. If not, why not?

    2. Where can I find a demo site (both front end & admin) of bbPress 2 so that I can “kick the tires”

watch the last topic on phpmyadmin, you can try to delete this topic?

For me it’s a disaster. 160 000 to upload messages, I left my pc tune 24 hours and my PC reboot, can not return, I must repeat: ‘(

but the links in the posts are broken, the smiley worse, it generates a link rambling … even if this plugin is very generous and left a good feeling, that’s 3 months I waited, finally, I’m at the point of give up and keep my phpbb, but if I have a holy horror!

    Hi All!

I’m getting quite far and have overcome a few problems myself which has been fun, but I am stuck with the style issue.

My theme and test is here: http://www.coffeesocial.co.uk/forums/forum/coffee-social-forum/

I am running a theme called Continuum, with a child theme that adds a few extra bits to the main theme.

I got as far as installing the files from the settings folder into my child theme folder (actually functions.php and style.css were overwritten because Filezilla did not warn me!!!)

Was that supposed to happen? Because it messed up the theme (although bbPress page style looked miles better) it still did not look much better than what it currently is: http://www.coffeesocial.co.uk/forums/forum/coffee-social-forum/

That aside, I went back and replaced the functions and style files with the correct ones from the original child theme to make my website look and function right.

Can I merge the two files style and functions to then include both necesarry code elements to let my theme and bbPress look correct?

It would be stupid to let the bbPress style and funcions overwrite becasue then it would mess up everyones themes. What did you guys do to get it working on a custom theme (i.e. not the one that comes with bbPress).

    Cheers :)

I’m looking as well. It seems the FAQ file names dont jibe with the file names in my bbp-twentyten/ dir with all the bbpress files.

It would be really helpful to give a little more foundational information so I can get down to modifying the core templates of bbpress.

I’m using JQ theme which doesn’t have any references to bbpress so I’m assuming all bbpress files are in the above twentyten dir.

    Thanks!

I tried to find the thread that worked for me, but can’t find it and don’t remember what I did. I know I did not install bbPress via BuddyPress so I don’t suggest you do that.

If you can wait this should fix itself with BuddyPress 1.6 and bbPress 2.1.

There’s a “Zip Archive” link on the bottom of https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/plugin that will download the latest version. I hope you are aware 2.1 is a development version, not a released version of bbPress.

Hello, I’ve just set up bbPress 1.03

I’m having two issues, number 1 is that No emails go out when people attempt to register for the site

Number two is all of my posts show up as anonymous, and the threads show up as empty.

I am hosting this out of my own home, running the latest Apache and MySql through XAMPP.

In the Settings > Forums integration of BuddyPress, it seems like the Forums are not set up. When I first set up the forums and buddypress, the only way i could get it working was to install bbpress separately. Whenever I tried to “install sitewide forums” through that page, it wasn’t successful. Now when I try to install sitewide forums, it wants me to install bbpress all over again. Is there any way to manually make BuddyPress aware of the bbpress install? Thanks so much!

Hi. I’m trying to show a logged in a user their topics/replies, which would be accomplished by showing their BuddyPress activity stream (since I’m using both). I see that this is supposed to be a feature, but my buddypress activity streams don’t show any bbpress activity. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

After a user deletes/trashes their own topic, it redirects to /?view-all, which comes back with a “No results found” Page. How would I fix this? Thanks!

Note: This is a followup to this post on getting a user to be able to edit/delete their own topics. http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/user-close-topic-trash-etc-resolved

I have test bbpress locally using my theme (it’s premium theme) and I have the same problem as you are (sidebar displays below the main content). I will follow this thread.

    Topic: Theme In WordPress

    in forum Themes

    Hello Everyone,

I really want to find a good theme that works with bbpress, that has a sidebar. I want to create a website that has a forum component, with a sidebar for various things. I also want to add advertising (aka Adsense) as a form of revenue, at least to make the site pay for it’s costs.

I have already created 1 website with bbpress, talkbeautyskincare.com and for some reason, sidebar displays below the main content, this is after I added the bbpress files into a child-theme. I just want to know my best bet to tackling this, because I would like to start a community that could help each other out on my ideas.

Thanks so much for your help

    Zac

    In reply to: SEO Plugin?

I’m using the BBpress standalone software (not through WordPress blog).

Is this plugin available as a standalone and where can I download it?

    I appreciate your help!

You might try WordPress SEO which has some support for custom post types, a feature of WordPress that bbPress uses. :)

You need to create pages and use shortcodes.

    See https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-20-shortcodes

For example have a login page that contains [bbp-login] and a registration page that has [bbp-register] – this will allow you users to register for an account (which they need to post) and and area to login at.

Also there are plenty of plugins available on WordPress.org that let you put a login for into widget areas etc.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say thanks for creating this plugin. The possibilities with it are only limited by a persons skill with php, and of course, their imagination.

Using this plugin, and attempting to build a website around it has dramatically increased my understanding of WordPress, PHP, and everything in between. Before I started tinkering around with this thing I didn’t even know what an array was, nor did I have the slightest understanding of loops, queries, actions, or functions. If I needed something on my website, I used plugins, which often slowed everything down quite a bit and created a ton of conflicts. Now I’m not only designing the website I wanted, but I’m understanding it’s architecture.

Though I am a long way from finishing it, I feel like I actually have the ability complete it on my own, which never would have happened without this plugin.

So thank you again to the creators of bbpress, you truly are the last surviving Jedi Masters of wordpress.

When you are looking for bbP 2 plugins, disregard the plugins on bbPress.org as they are going to be for 1.x.

All bbP 2.x plugins are being hosted on wordpress.org, so that is where you will want to start your search. Specifically you can check out

Hi @metalweb. Are you trying to create a stand alone forum with no group forums? I actually wrote a blog post yesterday that outlines how we made them work together with the stand alone version of bbPress and used “site wide” forums. – http://www.26am.com/blog/2011/12/22/buddypress-and-bbpress-making-them-play-together/

Hope that helps! Post back if you need more help.

I’m new to bbPress and I am testing it right now to see if it is a good replacement candiate for a phpbb forum I own.

I’ve set up version 2.0.2 on WP 3.3.

I’ve ‘done’ the extensive installation video on YT, which was very helpful.

Although I really appreciate the cleanliness of bbPress, my forum members really need a few addtional features, like bbCode and PM’s.

I found both plugins, but they claim not to be compatible with bbPress 2.x

Also they’re referring to an installation system I don’t get, where is ppPress ‘myplugins’ directory located?? I cannot seem to find this folder, where should it be?

Thanks for helping me out! (and a version compatible indicator in the plugin section of this site would be very helpful for beginners like me!)

    Hi,

I just noticed that the url removes the forum name when in the topic url.

Is there any way to add the forum name?

    example:

    url1: http://bbpress.org/forums/forum/requests-and-feedback

    url2: http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/anyone-use-bbpress-for-role-playing-games-rpg

Can the “topic” of url2 automatically changed to “request-and-feedback” so the final url reads: url2: http://bbpress.org/forums/requests-and-feedback/anyone-use-bbpress-for-role-playing-games-rpg

    Thanks
