I’m in a similar boat here…have a multisite install, installed bbpress plugin (2.0.2) and all worked fine for awhile, I changed gears to polish up the first phase of the project and now, the forum appears half-baked. The main forum page (/forums) shows the list of test forums, but each forum link appears to just use the page.php template…the install seems to have lost the bbpress templating. Seems like I’ve seen similar issues discussed here on the bbpress forum before…but no solution presented. Can anyone help? thx!

I’m having the very same issues that jloosi describes….has anyone seen this before. Forum installed great with bbpress plugin…got on to other higher priority tasks, then came back to work on the Forum more and poof…gone….the main forum list is there, but each forum just shows a description, none of the assigned topics appear, going straight to a topic does the same thing. Very wierd…..I tried uninstalling, (not removing from the DB…yet). Anyone with any thoughts?

I have put bbpress in the buddypress installation for http://www.c2coe.org/site/

However, when I am at the forum overview for a buddypress group, it shows a link to #new-topic but that automatically goes to ww.c2coe.org/site/#new-topic instead of going down the page where the input fields are.

I am going insane over this. Tried modifying /plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-templatetags.php where I have found a new-topic reference, but that didn’t change anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!!!

i’m trying to set up a forum using bbpress at awardspace.com.

    trouble:

i unzipped bbpress 2.0 on my desktop, then i uploaded ALL the files to awardspace in a folder called bbpress. i visited mysite.com/bbpress/ and there’s no installer. it’s just blank.

    questions:

is bbpress a plugin for wordpress? like should i install wordpress on the server first? i’m completely new to these things…

    or

should i set up a database first? then go to somewhere and find the installer??

    or

should i just set up wordpress and install a wordpress forum plugin??

I have exactly the same question. Avatars on posts are welcome. All those small avatars are annoying. I want to remove them completely. Can’t find the code in the template files.

Hello! First off, let me introduce myself… My name is Corey and I started a pet care website: http://www.critterhub.com

So today I got to the point with the website where I wanted to add some decent forums to it. I got bbPress, but my theme doesnt support it out of the box. Needless to say, I’ve run into a few snags so far.

This is what I’m trying to get to with the forums:

    – Full width individual forum categories would be great… Example: After you login from the sidebar on the main forum page, and click “Aquaria Forums”, it becomes a full width forum and nixes the sidebar.

    – Basically, I just want the forums to look a bit more… legit. The way they look now is very bland and white with no real organization or structure. I am so new to bbPress that I have no idea where to begin.

    – Is there a way to just embed a forum into a page? That way, I could just create a page for each forum category, such as “Aquaria Forums”, and then set it to full-width.

Here is where I’m at so far: http://www.critterhub.com/forums-2/

Any help in getting these forums looking good is GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Corey

I am integrating BBPress 2.0.2 into WordPress and Buddypress to create a forum/social experience.

I have everything functioning correctly, but while trying to style the forum I cannot seem to change the height of the forums categories. Currently they are about 300px in height, which is ridiculous! I have done everything I know to do in CSS and I cannot change this.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for your response. I realized my question was about the bbPress Widget. I realized I wasn’t setting up the forum hierarchy correctly. I’ve fixed the organization, and now it’s showing the description.

Does the included forum system in BuddyPress vary greatly from the BBPress 2.0 plugin? There seems to be one for BP’s built in forums.

If there wasn’t too much difference i’d imagine it wouldn’t be hard to port it over.

Can anyone help with this issue? I’m at the point where I would like to activate bbPress but am stuck at this error…

    Using bbPress 2.0.

I changed the time zone from UTC to UTC -5 and new replies began showing before old replies (that were less than 5 hours older).

Topics and other things may also be affected.

I just upgraded wordpress to the latest version, then bbpress. This is my first time upgrading bbpress, and evidentially I did something wrong.

    I receive this error:

Fatal error: Class ‘BBP_Theme_Compat’ not found in /home/username/public_html/wp-content/themes/daily/functions.php on line 501

I searched google and this site, and was unable to find any information. Where did I go wrong?

    Hi.

I am using bbPress as a stand alone forum on WordPress with Suffusion theme.

    I have Categories and Forums.

I do not like the look on the home page of the Forum List under the Category.

All the Forums titles run together onto one continuous line like this:

    Category A

    -Forum 1, Forum 2, Forum 3, Forum

    4, Forum 5, Forum 6

How can I have the Forums under a category listed down the page like this?

    Category A

    -Forum 1

    -Forum 2

    -Forum 3

    -Forum 4

    -Forum 5

    -Forum 6

Is there a pluggin to fix this?

    Thanks.

    -Mike

    Oh right, gotcha.

Yeah, the v2 bbPress forums look nowhere as good as the standalone ones.

I thought something might have been fixed in an updated bbPress release – not to be :)

    @Rastarr

if you look at twwinn’ site you will see 2 forums

    http://www.gogo-gringo.com/forums = new bbPress 2x

    http://www.gogo-gringo.com/forum = old bbPress standalone 1x vs.

It’s the 2x that he is trying to fix. There is no link on his site to get to the new forums, the button you are clicking on ‘forum’ is his old forum which he is trying to fix.

    @tnwinn

Mate, the forum looks bloody great!

And I see the sue forums are displaying descriptions as well. How did you manage that? Is that due to using some latest bbPress version or something?

I am also trying to converted an integrated standalone to the plugin. For some reason, some but not all of our posts carried over to the plugin. I’m not sure about the users, but I think if your bbpress standalone and WP were all integrated before, the users should already be in your WP database, right? I’m just having problems with getting the posts and topics over. I’ve tired the bbpress converter plugin, and tried deleting the plugin and starting over, but nothing seems to help.

As noobish as it sounds, how the heck do you get to the admin area of the bbpress 2.0.2 plugin to install other plugins on it then?

Yes, you can install bbpress plugins…so long as they are designed for 2.0.2 or higher. There are also many wordpress and buddypress plugins that will work with bbPress 2.0 in this configuration.

You can see many examples of these plugins on our demo sites at http://labsecrets.com/showcase

    Cheers!

Currently there is no such plugin, anyone is free to build one though.

I’m guessing that the most ‘generic’ way to do this would be to use multisite, put bbPress onto a single site, and then simply add a link to that site in all the other sites menu’s.

You could use a plugin like

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multisite-user-management/

That would add each user to every site on your network when they signup on one site. It does take some setup, but works pretty well for what it is.

    Bump again.

Is there actually no way to use multisite users and use, for example, an iframe from the main website? They don’t need to be individually skinned.

I would love an answer to this too.
