In other forums it is ready. Simply create categories and forums by default that the organization already does this separation. It should also be standard in bbPress.

If you do not want the separation of categories, will not do it, but it uses different categories is because you want to be separated for better organization.

So it is ideal to be implemented this improvement, and as you mentioned, many other features (as plugins).

And preferably, as plugins for WordPress, which can be installed and automatically updated directly by the panel without having to use FTP, as are separate plugins bbPress.

Suggestion:

is that all plugins from bbPress and BuddyPress, stay in the WordPress directory, thus it will be much easier to use them.

Since bbpress 2.x hasn’t had a proper stable release yet (the beta and release candidates so far have been good though!) there are not too many plugins yet.

Plugins for bbpress 2.x can be found in the WordPress repository, just search for bbpress:

I used bbPress plugin to an existing WordPress installation and it works great. I wanted also to allow users to upload their own avatars. For that purpose I installed Loise Dade’s Avatar Upload plugin, but upon activation, nothing really happens.

Is there a way I can allow users to upload avatars when bbPress is installed as a plugin?

No, problem is with bbPress. When the permalinks in WordPress are enabled, this works fine. If the permalinks are disabled, URL’s are not generated properly, and some parts of URL are missing. I have confirmed this with TwentyTen theme built in bbPress. All tested with lates bbPress from SVN trunk.

BBpress isn’t a wordpress plugin, however if installed on the same website as wordpress you can share users. Maybe I can help you setup bbpress properly?

The bbPress plugin should use the WordPress timezone. Can you post a link to your forums or any other additional details?

Yeah, kind of. Dev version has the max file size equal to the php.ini setting, upload_max_filesize. You can actually just replace your copy of the toolbar-images-panel.php with the one in trunk and it will be fixed.

I kinda want a few more things done before I make a 0.6.1 or something…and more time between them -_- Don’t like annoying people with overly frequent updates -_-

The solution I posted worked and I don’t know what to tell you… Maybe you can put a pop-up link instead of using thickbox/prettyphoto/any other overlay plugin.

When I post to my forum, the timestamp on the post are 7 hours in the past, wordpress has the correct timezone with is us pacific time.

I use bbPress 2.0-rc3 with WordPress 3.2.1 and R8 theme (http://www.dev4press.com) which supports bbPress 2.0.

If you visit a forum that has topics and those topics have multiple pages of replies the theme shows links with page numbers so you can jump directly to a specific page of the topic. Unfortunately, the links link to pages of the parent forum and not pages of the topic. Is this a theme problem or a bbPress problem?

Hi, I am getting bbpress as a plugin installed into the WordPress website I am building. I don’t want people to see or have access to the admin bar, so I am going to disable it. But I need people to have a login link etc in the header. I want it to be “Hello Name. Log Out.” The “Name” needs to link to the person’s profile page. Basically I want it just like bbpress has it set up here. I have found the php line for the Name. I can’t seem to find the php line for the link to the profile page though. Can anyone help me find this stuff? Thank you.

Same problem. I don’t want to give these roles the “edit_other_forums” capability because that seems to overrule the restrictions I have in place. I need to have two private forums – one for one group and the other for the other group (these roles have no admin capabilities).

Just updated it to 0.6.0. This has a lot of things done. bbPress 2 RC 3 put the extra action hooks in the post form area, so the toolbar is using those now for placement of the bar. No more delete-dupes using JS

I got it working. If anyone happends to have the same question here is my solution:

This solution is for the bbPress Plugin version.

1. Got to “https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/bbpress/plugin/nl/default”.

2. Log in

3. Export the .mo file at the bottom and download it.

4. Place it in the following dir “/wp-content/languages/bbpress/”.

5. Rename is to “bbpress-nl_NL.mo”.

6. Make sure you have filled the correct languages in your wp-config.php: ‘nl_NL’.

If there is an easier way feel free to leave a comment.

I am looking for the dutch translation of the bbPress forum, but I can’t find it.

I have looked in the repository at “http://svn.automattic.com/bbpress-i18n/”, but there isn’t a nl_NL version.

I know that there is a translation available, because when I look in GlotPress I see that the dutch translation is 100% completed.

Ok, I’m a complete nubee to WordPress and bbPress so please bear with me. I have been tasked with customizing the Twenty Ten theme with bbPress plugin (Twenty Ten) child theme.

Can someone tell me what would be best, to modify these themes as they are or should I make a copy and rename them and create new themes? If so, how do I go about doing this? For instance, how would I get the renamed versions to read each other and work together?

Another question I have is… If I were to just modify these themes, will they be overwritten if I were to do an automatic update of WordPress or the bbPress plugin?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just installed bbpress plugin on wordpress mu site, with the url being

However, going to that page brings up the apologies page not found. To get to the actual board, have to go to

Problem is, the HOME page link leads to the first page which is not what I want, since the forums aren’t listed there and the page not found error.

I guess I can resolve this with 301 redirect, but I’m wondering why can’t I access the forums on “HOME” page in the menu?

Yes, for some unknown reason my site is now working again (no re-installation or changing plugins, etc.). This is strange and has never happened before with any wordpress plugin I’ve used.

I think i get it. BBPress 2 is a BBPress Plugin for WordPress. BBPress 1.03 is a standalone BBPress.

Your Skeleton theme is for WordPress/BBPress 2 and not for standalone BBPress 1.03

I just updated the bbPress forum to Version 2.0-rc-3 (I’m using the bbPress plugin for WordPress). Before the update to the new version my forum (a private forum) could be found at

now, when i go there it says there is nothing there (I confirmed the link is the forum link within WordPress). Before the new version, this was the exact link for the forum.

Does anybody know what is going on here?
