Hello,

    I just installed wordpress and bbpress in their last versions. I must have missed something because i see no link to a “bbpress administration panel”.

    I’ve read http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/successful-install-but-where-is-the-administration-area but there is no “Admin” link.

    The forum is here: http://www.nolactose.fr/forums/

    Any help is very welcome.

    Regards

    The error when I tried to update to 2.0.1 was “Cannot remove old plugin” or similar.

    The result was the same as above

    Fatal error: Class 'BBP_Theme_Compat' not found in /var/www/karting/www/wp-content/themes/karting2011/functions.php on line 46

    I deleted the bbpress folder from wp-content/plugins and then uploaded version 2.0.1 from here:

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress/

    To the same place as the old folder. The template for bbpress in my theme were untouched.

    This got the site working again.

    Hey All,

    I have installed the bbPress plugin on a few wordpress instances and tend to favour a vanilla install coupled with CSS overrides to provide the look & feel I need.

    On a recent install I have spotted an issue with user profiles. When I try and navigate to the user’s profile (typically yoursite.com/users/<username>) I am receiving a 404 page from WordPress.

    I can browse to another users profile and it resolves fine. The only difference I can see is that the profile which is not working has a username which has spaces e.g. FirstName LastName as opposed to FirstNameLastName.

    Has anyone else had this issue and know if its a genuine bug or a “feature”? :P

    Cheers, Matt

    I should add that all was working just fine until I updated BBPress to 2.0.1. The only reason I updated it was because a wordpress update said there was a new version to download and I downloaded it. Got the error when the auto install tried to reactive the plugin.

    Yes! I very much want to use bbpress template tags within wordpress theme files. I tried it and get an error. I know the bbpress 2.0 codex will come out soon, and maybe that will help. But in the meantime? Thanks!

    It sounds like you have tried to install bbpress 2.0 using bbpress 1.0 instructions. bbPress 2.0 is a WordPress plugin and should be installed and activated accordingly. If you are going to FTP upload it, place it in /wp-content/plugins.

    I am trying to integrate my forum into my wordpress forum but the integrated forum is off set.

    It shows to the right of the page and the right hand side of the topic headings is cut off. The theme that I am using in wordpress is twent eleven 1.2.

    I can’t access my bbpress admin page as I keep getting unregistered user messages. I have submitted another post about this.

    the url to see how my blog appears is here

    I recently tried to integrate my bbpress forum (what do Chrisrtians believe) with my wordpress blog (food for thought. Somehow the end result what do christians believe being integrated with chrisrtiansbelieve.

    Christiansbeleive is a wordpress that i tried to create a long time ago and had forgotten about it.

    The consequence of this is that I don’t have access to my bbpress forum (what do christians beleive?). I keep getting unregistered user messages. I can’t even reset the password.

    Is it possible to delete this integration link and to give me access to my forum?

    Let’s say I have a fresh WP 3.2.1 and NO plugins installed.

    In fact, everything is default from a fresh installation.

    I am lead to understand that bbPress is an enhanced version of the built in forums in BuddyPress. In order to have a web2.0 type forum with sharing and favoriting and comment-post-topic interaction you need to add bbPress.

    First I install BuddyPress 1.5.1.

    Then I install BuddyPress Template Pack 1.2 to assist in moving over the BuddyPress pages to my site.

    Then I go to WP settings and allow users to register. There are some new additions to the drop down menu here so I select the default user role and set it to “member” this should be sufficient to allow users to post new topics.

    Next I run though the BuddyPress Template Pack wizard (with all defaults) and end up with a working BuddyPress site that is integrated into my theme.

    Works good.

    There are no groups or forums yet, and one member ‘admin’.

    I now have a basic forum where a user can register and create a topic, reply to topics etc.

    My aim here is to have ONE forum (one) that has user-created posts that are also integrated into the forum for discussion as topics, the user created topics are actually posts with full text and featured image and all that jazz.

    So on the front end I now have a menu with the default BuddyPress pages (they have been created by BuddyPress) activity — members — groups — forums — register

    Now what I want to do is add the ability for a registered and logged in user to create a post that becomes a topic in the forum. Sounds simple right?

    So to add this functionality, I download and install bbPress 2.0.

    All it seems to have done is add three new areas to my WP Admin left margin:

    forums — topics — replies

    Moving on I want to install bbPress Topics for Posts 0.6

    According to this plugin creator, this plugin is supposed to Add an option to the Discussion meta box to use a bbPress topic instead of WordPress comments, and displays that topic beneath the post on your site.

    So as of right now I have 4 (four) plugins installed, and I need another plugin for users to be able to add posts, then they can see the bbpress post to topic option and integrate it into the forum themselves.

    Once I find this plugin, I will continue this thread.

    This sounds exactly like my problem. Is there a way to resolve without re-installing wordpress. That sounds like it has the potential to wind up being a ton of work to my existing WP site. Help appreciated!

    Doesn’t matter now. Its actually WordPress itself that handles this, not bbpress.

    i’m adding bbPress to our WP blog, followed the instructions in the Theme Compatibility sticky and appended all the functions from bbPress/functions.php into myTheme/functions.php. as soon as i reloaded the page, i got a critical fault error. can’t find the required class. since i copied all the files across as instructed, shouldn’t the file be locatable? i’m not sure where to even begin with this. i thought integration would be relatively simple, i’m sure its something simple i’m overlooking.

    please help me out so i can get cranking. i’ve already blown away the theme i built because i didn’t know bbPress’ cute little update ‘feature’, so i’m anxious to get back on track.

    should mention, using latest of WordPress and bbPress.

    thank you very much

    WR!

    I personally find it ridiculous that someone would suggest that the developer shouldn’t have to do the documentation. Or at least that is what it sounded like when I read these comments.

    If the dev doesn’t completely supply documentation, how is anyone else going to know what the heck to do with this plugin?

    If this is such a great plugin, then make it easier to integrate into the themes.

    It is difficult enough getting our websites up and functioning without having to pull our hair out trying to figure out how to use a plugin that is supposed to be so great.

    I have noticed that there are a lot of dev’s who don’t contribute much documentation for wordpress. How unfortunate they assume everyone can read their minds.

    This topic has been up for months and still having no clear directions. Hope everyone else figures it out. I’m not going to bother with this.. If the dev doesn’t care, I sure don’t.

    All plugins to bbPress 2.0 are in fact plugins to WordPress. So look for the plugins here: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

    Quick look found this as a signature plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbp-signature/

    I am trying to integrate my forum into wordpress so that the forum shows on a page in my blog, there are 3 problems;

    1. your set up documentation says that I need to cut and paste information from the following fields into your integration page; secure_auth and wordpress mu primary log ID. I can’t find them in document used in your hyperlink.

    2. I have used a wordpress plug in to import my bbpress forum but there doesn’t seem to be a way to set up the widgets as they don’t show on a newly created page. They clash with wordpress set up as their widgets show on every page. They are not needed for the forum but the forums are and I can’t show them.

    Also it seems that the only place to show my topics are in the wordpress blog margin as there is no facility to drag and drop the widget into the page content .

    3. I have designed a forum in bbpress but the forums show tight to the right hand margin with the right hand end of the topic details cut off. There seems to be a hot tags widget preventing the topics from appearing in the centre of the page. How can I change the settings?

    I’ve been using bbPress as a WordPress Plug-in for a few weeks now and I’ve got it looking pretty spiffy for my site. My problem is, there are some bbPress plug-ins (for signatures and post counting) that I’d like to implement into the forums, but as far as I see, this is impossible. Enabling the plug-ins in wordpress’ plug-in folder does nothing. I’ve tried doing MySQL query’s and that doesn’t work. I’m lost, is there anybody with some insight on this situation? I’m starting to think I should of went with the stand-alone or another forum system, but I liked the integration of the plug-in with existing users and all. Thanks in advance

    You have to use the bbPress plugins in WordPress plugin directory…

    bbPress.org plugin directory is for bbPress 1 the standalone vr

    I am using WordPress’s template on word press blog from internet.

    Mac Os X (Safari or Firefox) without using free software of wordpress upload.

    1. Already had set a template, because I liked design.

    Could I change only the color of date and contents color (whole letter’s color))setting?

    The design which I selected first, and every time I have to change the color of whole of letters from edit box, and makes me bothed with, it is waste of time.

    2. I tried doing update from email after knowing email uploading address from Mail tray on Mac Os X, but from second one which I sent on a day, it was not appeared on webpage. Does WordPress have a rule “It is only a day showup in the case of email upload, or need waiting for a minutes for visible?

    WordPress 3.1.4, bbpress plugin 2.0

    I want role Participant to view forum/topic/reply with Hidden attribute but not Private,how can I do?

    I try to change some definition manually in bbp_get_caps_for_role() like this:

    case $participant_role :

    $caps = array(

    // Forum caps

    ‘read_hidden_forums’,

    // Topic caps

    ‘publish_topics’,

    ‘edit_topics’,

    // Reply caps

    ‘publish_replies’,

    ‘edit_replies’,

    // Topic tag caps

    ‘assign_topic_tags’,

    );

    break;

    and reinstall wordpress and bbpress, create a Participant account and it works.

    Everything seems OK but only when I access pages like: http://localhost/?forum=a-hidden-forum, it returns a 404 page, not a topic list.

    Other pages like “http://localhost/?topic=a-topic-in-a-hidden-forum”, “http://localhost/?post_type=forum” and widges in sidebar return the right contents.

    I also try adding both

    // Forum caps

    ‘read_hidden_forums’,

    ‘read_private_forums’,

    to Participant and as a result, every pages are displayed even “http://localhost/?forum=a-hidden-forum” and topics in Private forum.

    It seems have something to do with actions in “bbp-init” in which return a wrong string when reaching for perameter “forum”.

    Sorry for not viewing all previous QoA but the most similar topic I’ve found is “Forum Participant role cannot view private forum” but it doesn’t help.

    Is there any way to solve my problem?

    Thanks for any help :)

    I have a WordPress with WPML plugin and it works ok in all the pages, menus, widgets and plugins.

    Now I added the bbpress 2.0 plugin, and there is no way that WPML can read the language .mo files of bbpress.

    I tried with CodeStyling Localization (another translate plugin) but the bbpress language files are not available. Localization section of WP shows this:

    Textdomain: bbpress

    Versión: 2.0

    Estado: active

    Descripción: bbPress is forum software with a twist from the creators of WordPress.

    Compatibility: Loading Issue: Author is using load_textdomain instead of load_plugin_textdomain function. This may break behavior of WordPress, because some filters and actions won’t be executed anymore. Please contact the Author about that.

    How can I make bbpress 2.0 will be multilingual as the entire content?

    Thanks!

    I got it working! However, I did not do anything with the bbPress functions.php. Was I supposed to combine it with my WordPress functions.php or something? Do I continue to just ignore it?

    Hey,

    Does this allow BBpress template codes within WordPress posts and pages? I asked about here: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/using-template-codes-within-wordpress

    If it does, could you offer some guidance on implementing the codes?

    Thanks.
