OK, suspect i’m just being thick here.

I am running bbpress 2.2.4 as a plugion on wordpress 3.5.1

When I click a users avataor or username I get a profile page like this :

How do I tweak this to display other info that the user has entered, such as location, name, etc.?

There’s lots of talk on the fourm about adding extra fields to registration or removing things such as URLS, but this seems to assume that people are seeing much more than I am on the profle page !

Help with what files to edit, or just what i need to do would be much appreciated !

I’m having this problem as well. I want to use the BBPress breadcrumb on Forum pages, and Yoast everywhere else, but I can’t get the bbpress crums to work unless i disable it completely.

I like bbPress it’s awesome. Like most open source software I like to get stuck in and break stuff then fix it, you learn a loads from doing that.

I agree phpbb and some others are easier options in certain areas, but the integration with wordpress is amazing.

When you change the FORUM ROLE any user via forum, then in the WordPress administration is forum rule unchanged, even though the user already has rights moderator or administrator. Can you change the forum role of the user via WordPress administration or not?

I tried to change the user role of the participant to moderator in the WordPress administration and nothing happened. I tried to change the role through the forum and role has changed, but the administration remained WordPress original role. Is this normal?

Same problem. After installation i have login widged in plugins, but i haven’t “forum” button and i have no permissions to enter plugin settings. WordPress 3.5.1 mantra theme.

I think he meant the changelog at the WP Plugin Directory because that hasn’t been updated yet.

Fixed my forum (but not solved).

What I did:
1) deactivate plugin + delete plugin
2) manually installed older version from SVN (https://bbpress.svn.wordpress.org/branches/2.2/)
3) export forum data (from Tools)
4) reset forum plugin
5) update plugin through standard plugin process
6) installed wordpress import plugin
7) imported forum data

There is a changelog, you just need to read the blog post this topic is connected to. 🙂

Or, even better, keep an eye on Trac if you’re concerned about the exact changes.

Unfortunately my bbPress does not allow admin to access settings anymore.
Forum is still publicly visible and it’s possible to post, but settings are “gone”.

I tried to figure out for 2 hours before writing here.
Wordpress debug says: PHP Notice: bbp_setup_current_user was called incorrectly. The current user is being initialized without using $wp->init().

.. is it possible to add features to the Post Editor? I can add custom meta boxes to regular and custom post types in WordPress but is it possible to add them to the bbPress editor

As @tbermudas I have also lost the tinyMCE editor on front-end.

I try to go back to version 2.3, but the zip file in WordPress repo for version 2.3 actually contains version 2.3.1. Where can I download version 2.3?

Jetpack developers are tracking this issue at https://wordpress.org/support/topic/foreach-error-in-223-update and there is a changeset posted there if you feel comfortable editing the core code before a stable update gets released.

I have installed the update in my tester site and I have lost the visual editor, also the “Ckeditor for wordpress plugin” seems to be not compatible.

There seems to be a conflict or something if used with Jetpack. Others users as well I have been having some problems.

I was able to solve the problem by creating a new wordpress administrator. When logging in as that user I could then access the Forum settings and assign the messed up users to forum keymaster role. See if that works for you.

Hi, i’m using bbpress and WPML together.
The problem is that when i activate WPML plugin, the admin menu of bbPress disappear.
As soon i deactivate WPML, the bbPress menu appears.

Versions used:
Wordpress 3.5.1
WMPL 2.8.1

I recently installed bbPress 2.3 on my WordPress site (version 3.5.1) and when I first tried to activate the plugin, I got a message that says I do not have sufficient permission to access this page. I clicked the back button and tried again, and it activated successfully. However, the Admin buttons didn’t show up on my Dashboard, and “Forums” is not an option in my Settings. I’ve tried removing bbPress completely, both through my WordPress dashboard and my web host’s cPanel, and re-installing to no avail. The only other plugins I activated recently was one for buddypress (which I removed to see if it was the issue) and I also installed a Digital Access Pass membership plugin. I have no idea what else to do to correctly install bbPress; any ideas? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I know this question has been asked alot on how to embed video and add youtube videos, I know how to do this by simply posting the link in the topic…. and it will automatically insert the youtube video…

But my problem is i want to have a few video tutorials that i want to insert and the mp3 or mp4 files are located on my server, i dont want to upload them to youtube…

so i was wondering if their was a way to use my own videos, i have already tried inserting the link that points to my server http://mysite.com/video.mp3 and it will not work that way..

So i tried creating a topic from the admin and use the insert media and it did not work that way , then i tried using a plugin to allow jw player shortcode and it did not work that way either… this is one of the plugins i tried using http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress2-shortcode-whitelist/ with no sucess…

Then i tried adding this code to my functions.php

this method did not work, it seems almost impossible to add my own video from my server, most the topics are super old 3 to 4 yrs old which really doesnt apply to the latest version of bbpress since so much of the code has changed, if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction i would appreciate it…

I am not trying to let my users be able to use shortcodes as i read they are a security risk and i am not trying to let my users be able to upload or use their own videos from a strange server..

I just want to be able to use my own videos instead of using youtube.

I uninstalled bbpress from a multisite wordpress 3.5.1 installation, but the bbpress roles have stuck around and show up in my admin dashboard. How do I get rid of them? (I do not intend to use bbpress at this time, so I don’t need to save any bbpress settings).

For some reason when I log into my dashboard under Settings I no longer see Forums as an option. If I go to the plugins page and click BBpress settings from there I get a permission error. Also when I view WordPress users the Forum roles are blank for all my users. I recently deleted one of my admin users and think this might be the problem. Is there a way to verify forum roles via the mysql db?

Right, so I have a website that’s just for my mates, and I’m using BuddyPress. I made a few “Divisions”, since my website’s a domain for my group on XBOX Live. So I go on the Divisions page, and I look around for a change avatar button. (Currently, the logo is just a blank box with “—–‘s Logo”) I can’t find a button anywhere. I tried changing my theme to the BuddyPress theme, also I tried with TwentyEleven, and it still happens. On my sub-domain I have on another site, I tried it, and it works. (The theme on the sub-domain is TwentyEleven).

Can someone help? If you need it, here’s a list of all the plugins that are active:

Ok, so newbie here who knows html and understands coding but is really keen to not screw up the site that someone else has built for me (so apologies if the answer is above and I’m not seeing it).

The site is http://www.heavenlyz.com and, I think, I’m using the “Nollie” theme.

I’ve installed bbpress, created a couple of forums and – via the great info on this thread – created a page called “Boardroom”, into which I’ve inserted the “[bbp-forum-index]” shortcode. Hey presto, after much head scratching, I can now see a forum index on http://www.heavenlyz.com/boardroom/…woohoo

But, my next challenge is to be able to open one of the forums shown. Am struggling with this.

If you think there is a better (read “easier” 🙂 solution, then please suggest but if not, please read on…

Because I am using the Nollie theme – I think – the parent/ child argument in that thread doesn’t apply, so am looking at changing the root page.php only (to be honest, I wouldn’t know how to work out whether the child page exists/ how to find the child page).

In the thread linked to above, Lab says
