    Hey BBPress!

    I was wandering if ya’ll can help me out with this. So I have my theme styled so that each Forum gets its own background through the style.css file using the following lines:

    .postid-17 {
    background: #000000 url(http://alysiaworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/alysiasea.jpg) center top no-repeat fixed;
    }

    where postid-17 is the correlating WordPress post associated with the Forum.

    The problem now is that when you visit a Topic within the Forum, the background goes back to the default image :/

    I am thinking that there should be a code to pull the topics Parent Forum “postid” and then force the background to the topic.

    I hope that makes sense. I can dig through code, but I am not so skilled with writing my own yet.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    WordPress and BBPress are running the latest versions:

    Site – htp://alysiaworld.com
    Theme – Twentytwelve

    Whilst I want to integrate BBpress to WordPress, I don’t want to run BBpress on the same WordPress database, having said that I still want to allow my registered users to connect to it. Can this be achievable?

    I can imagine my database filling up pretty quickly with hundreds of thousands of messages, so is there anyway to split them? but still have the users from the main wp site connect to the bbpress database.

    Perhaps some sort of “Sync” feature, those members who want to access the forums, will trigger a function that syncs the account with bbpress or something, or make bbpress fetch the auth details from main wp site.

    Anyone with me? just like wordpress and bbpress.org seems that accounts are in sync

    I would like topics to only show in the forum they are posted in. However, they are currently showing in ALL forums.

    I’m running bbPress 2.3.2 with WordPress 3.5.1 with the Headway Base theme.

    I’ve tried deactivating all other plugins, but that didn’t make any difference.

    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi,

    I installed the bbpress plugin for WordPress. I have a static front page (“Home”), and my posts display on another page (“Blog”). I added a menu option to myblog.com/forum, where the forum is displayed. Everything works fine, except that when I am anywhere on the forum, the “Blog” button is highlighted, and not the “Forum” button. On the root forums page, both buttons are highlighted.

    If I remove the “Blog” page from the Posts page option (Settings | Reading), the “Blog” button is never highlighted. The Forum button is highlighted when I am on the root Forums page, but nowehere else in the Forums. (So it looks to me that something gets confused with my Forum and Blog).

    I also tried linking an actual forum (not the root page as a link). This results in the same behaviour, except now relative to the specific forum page, not the root. (For example, if I am on the specific forum page, the button is highlighted, but not when I am in a topic. If I set my page of posts to “Blog”, the “Blog” buttons is highlighted when I am anywhere on the Forum).

    I have a feeling I may be missing something really simple. I searched on this forum, and it seems others do not have such issues. I’d appreciate any help; thanks!

    Hi again,

    Is there any solution on this? I think this is a bug of bbpress as this issue doesn’t occur in buddypress or wordpress.

    I just got my WordPress site marginally working and I need forum software.

    I am looking at Mingle, Simple, and bbPress.

    bbPress seemed a good choice because it was supposedly easy to install and was done by the WP team and has nice features.

    bbPress is anything but easy to install when it comes to themes. The instructions I found are almost universally out of date.

    Are there no themes for bbPress ready to install and modify? I can’t find anything, and none of the intructions/guilds I have found so far help or work.

    I am using Suffusion right now, and I just want bbPress to use its style.

    I can confirm this issue, and I believe it to be a bug with how forum threads are looked up. Perhaps one of the team here can confirm the issue?

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create a thread using greek characters
    2. Right click, and “copy link” then paste in new tab. This WORKS.
    3. Now copy the URL directly out of the address bar and paste in new tab. This DOESN’T WORK

    The difference I’m seeing is that the outputted forum URLs are encoded using lowercase a-f characters, but if you copy from the address bar (depending on browser or OS) the encoding letters are A-F uppercase.

    For example:
    ce%bf – accepted by bbPress and given the correct page
    CE%BF – goes to 404

    Normal WordPress pages can handle either just fine.

    I’ve tested this for a bit and got the same results in both Chrome and Firefox on OS X. It really looks like a bug where bbPress can’t tell the difference, or it’s not an exact match. Either way, this could be a big issue! To users, the links look exactly the same, and they can have issues sharing links.

    Thanks! Hoping to get some more feedback here.

    Best regards

    Hi,
    I have wordpress with version 3.4.2 and Buddypress Version 1.6.1 and bbPress version 2.2.3.
    I have installed BuddyPress Moderation version 0.16. I have integrated it to group page and member profile page but is it possible to implement it on forum topic posts?

    Any ideas at all?

    Ok simple question. Can anybody tell my what MySQl table the “imported” data is held in when I migrate from 1.2 to 2.3 using the BBpress importer tool?

    Thanks

    I’m using wordpress 3.5.1 with bbpress plugin 2.3.2.

    Although I have users already registered, those users cannot login to bbpress. When they go to the default forum page, it gives the wp login page and then when they add in their credentials, it just redirects back to the same page stating they must be logged in to see the page.

    They have the roll of participant and I’ve even downloaded the members plugin and added all of the participant functions to the subscriber roll yet still the same issue.

    The only person who can view the forum is the administrator.

    Any ideas? I’ve been trying to fix this now for hours and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve searched the web and haven’t found any solutions except for installing the member plugin, but still, it has no effect.

    I’d hate to have to use another forum software, but if I can’t get this to work, I’ll have no other recourse.

    website is http://teachforjune.com and forum page is http://teachforjune.com/iiforums

    Thanks!

    Hi. No ideas?

    In order to progress the migration I really need to clean out the failed import. But I cannot do that without deleting the meta data. If I delete the meta data I lose thousands of data points from my blog.

    I’d *really* appreciate some help from the developers here. Or perhaps nobody cares?

    I am having a bit of trouble integrating my WooTheme “canvas” with bbpress. I have read the “Theme Compatibility” article. I understand what it says but i am not sure when looking at the template PHP files that comes with bbpress where in my code i need to put the template code, and which part of the bbpress template code to use.

    I also switched to the “TwentyEleven” theme and it worked fine. I tried comparing the WooTheme code to TwentyEleven using Firebug, and i can see there is an obvious difference in the code. But i am lost as to what to change.

    I have setup all the correct settings in the Dashboard area.

    Any help would would be greatly appreciated.
    I am using WordPress 3.5.1
    and bbpress Version 2.3.2

    EDIT: I am having a bit of trouble with too much website traffic shutting my site down when i post the page address. So maybe if someone can point me in the direction of more info on intergrating bbpress with different themes. As stated above i have read the Theme compatibility article.

    Hi, actually I’m trying to develop a WP plugin that will do almost the same thing you were trying to do.
    But, my lack of knowledge and the lack of documentation (I can’t find it!) aren’t helping me very much.
    This is what I have actually:
    https://github.com/maisdesign/MDPostEforumsCreator

    As you can see in my index.php file that is here:

              'post_status' => 'draft'
            );

        $post_id = wp_insert_post($new_post);
    };

        echo '<input class="subput round" type="submit" name="submit" value="Post"/>
    </form>';
    };?>

    My plugin is almost complete, what I can’t understand is How to create also a forum with same title of the post created by the form.

    Is there anyone who can send me to the right direction? Thank you.

    I’m having the exact same issue, but instead of importing the vbulletin database directly from vbulletin server, I have exported the vbulletin database as a sql file and imported it over to a new database that I have created on my server where my WordPress and BBPress installation exist. I have entered the following to each of the import fields:

    Platform: vBulletin
    Database Server IP or hostname: localhost
    Database Port Use: 3306
    Database Name: [entered correct db name]
    Database User: [entered correct db user]
    Database Password: [entered correct db password]
    Table Prefix: blank

    Once I click the start button, it will show “Starting Conversion” but just hangs there, any idea what I’m doing wrong?

    Strange problem. I’m trying to migrate from 1.2 to 2.3 without any success. The import hangs at around 37,000 replies. Forums, posts and replies are showing up to about 8 months ago but no fresher than that. I suspect this is because I tried the import about 8 months ago and we now have duplicate users.

    But when trying to reset the forum (plugin not standalone) many thousands of meta data points are deleted from wordpress. As a result thousands of blog post tags and categories have disappeared.

    I will restore the database but I have no idea how to progress the import from here.

    Any ideas? We have been trying for a week now in what had become a very frustrating process. It’s also become expensive since I contacted a developer to help. Any advice is much appreciated.

    Website is unitedrant.co.uk

    1.2 is at \forum
    2.3 is at \forums

    Arf! Arf!(Howdy! Howdy!),

    I just move my content to a Bootstrap based WordPress Theme (Customizr) that so far I like alot. I’ve never used bbPress before, and don’t quite understand it’s integration with the usage of Pages. Particularly Full Width vs Sidebar usage.

    Here’s a link to my site: Toolbox-4-Websites

    I installed the bbPress Plugin into my WordPress 3.6 beta 3 installation.
    I then created a new page titled “Forums” with a right sidebar.
    I drag & dropped that page into my Primary Navigation Menu.
    I created two Forum categories and dropped them beneath my “Forums” menu page.
    I dragged all of the bbPress Widgets into my Theme’s right sidebar.

    Here’s the problem:

    When I click on a Forum category, it opens up in a Full Page format missing the sidebar.
    The viewers never get to see the 7 widgets.
    I also notice that when I’m in the Admin panel, I’m given the option to edit the Forum, but NOT THE PAGE itself. Is this a bbPress issue, OR an issue with my theme?

    The Customizr Theme is intentionally designed to NOT allow the first Primary Menu Title to open as a page…only what’s beneath each title. Could the developer’s choice of that option be hindering my ability to edit each page beneath the main menu titles?
    (I thought I would contact bbPress first, before I contacted the theme’s Developer).

    I’ve received no message on Facebook (it’s also a poor approach to reporting security issues.)

    Please read this page on the WordPress Codex.

    Not fair to say I’ve ignored something I didn’t receive. I’m curious how you’re managing to login and post anything here, if logins are broken?
