Can anyone explain how to best do this?
I’m not sure that your approach is really a good one, or indeed how you would 301 each topic in a forum – sounds like a terrible headache.
Why not just export/import using wordpress, and then point your forum menu item at the subdomains forum?
Not sure if this is a forum related question or breadcrumbs from your wordpress theme?
Can you show
What the title is
What the permalink is
what the breadcrumb says currently
what you would like it to say
The way profiles are shown requires some coding – would a menu item do you?
Layout and functionality – Examples you can use

Hi,
been working with bbpress, read through all the documentation and a lot of googling, and need to know how to hide the WordPress User bar when the user is logged in. bbpress is being used along with WooCommerce. The goal is to have a single login for members to have access to the forums.
Included is a screen shot.

I had a similar issue when running a migrate with a large amount of posts. I believe it’s usually related to a session timeout in WordPress.
When it starts happening, click ‘Stop’ on the importer, then refresh the page and click ‘Start’ again (after you’ve ensured all the database and conversion settings are correct first). The importer should carry on from where it left off as long as you DON’T tick the ‘start a fresh import’ or ‘purge failed import’ options.
If that doesn’t seem to work, another way (which is a little tedious, but worked for me) is to keep a separate WordPress admin page open (not the one your running the import on) and refresh that every few minutes to make sure the session doesn’t expire.

Hello,
Wordpress version : 3.9.1
bbPress version:2.5.4
When i translate the plugin in french, the forum translation works but install the translation broke the admin part.
I can’t publsh any article or access to the parameter, i have a “server problem” when i try to access these part of the admin.
To translate the forum i sent the .mo in : /wp-content/languages/plugins.
Thank’s for your help.
NB: Sorry for my english, if some point are not clear dont hesitate to ask me more information/explanation.
I used Method 1
a. In Dashboard>settings>forums look for what is set in the forum root under the forum root slug heading. The default is ‘forums’ but you can set this to anything
b. In Dashboard>settings>permalinks check that the common settings check is set to ‘postname’ If it isn’t and you don’t want to change it, then use method 2.
Now just create a wordpress page that has the heading that was found in a. above eg if the root slug is ‘forums’ create a page with the title ‘forums’, and save.
Once the permalink has been created, you can rename the page to whatever you wish eg ‘mysite forums’ (as the permalink will stay the same, and it is this permalink that bbpress looks for)
Save this page, add it to a menu if you are using custom menus, or decide its order if you have automatic menus. Then publish it to your site.
Job done!
I don’t know what information you need to help me. All I know is that when I publish a forum I can see it for example . . .
http://ecopsi.org/forums/forum/general-discourse/
But when I follow the breadcrumbs to home of the forum I get a totally useless page from which I can’t get to any forums. If you look you can see that there is some text that suggests there are other forums but no live links to them. Can you think of what is wrong?

Thank you for trying to help Robin.
ok, lets work this through
You say you’re a superadmin – does this mean its a multi-site installation? they’re not my forte, but if this is just a single site then….
First of all bbpress is a plugin, so you’ll still need wordpress (and it holds the users), and since the existing theme has all the styling that you users are used to, then it would be sensible to use that as well.
So in effect what you need to do is just import a full copy of the installation, and then take out the pages and posts, and you have a forum without the rest of the site !
Since you have a test site, then follow the guidance in
https://codex.bbpress.org/creating-a-test-site/
and then just go into posts and pages to delete those (apart from the forum page), and amend the custom menu if you have one.
WordPress 3.9.2 running Montezuma theme.
bbPress 2.5.4
There is no “Forums” landing page and the breadcrumbs don’t work for either forums or topics. You can see the individual forums from inside the admin and clicking view and then post a topic but you can’t see the forum from the public face of the blog. Follow the link and you’ll see what I mean.

Very frustrating. Is there something that I forget to do?
Hello – I have successfully installed the plugin and created my forums, however i am having trouble getting the user roles set. When I try to save a user role such as moderator instead of participant, it will not save and just reverts back to participant.
Can you please help. bbpress Version 2.5.4, wd press WordPress 3.9.2 : Safarica theme version 1.5.0,
Thanks for your help!
ok guys nice to meet you all and forgive me about my poor English.
my site is http://www.lotyr.cc/ and It’s a Chinese one, bbPress entrance is http://www.lotyr.cc/bbs/.
I’m using WordPress 3.9.2, Customized Thematic 1.0.4 theme and bbPRESS 2.5.4.
Here comes my problem:
I want my bbs users to upload and insert images before submitting a topic, so I used a plugin named [bbPress Enable TinyMCE Visual Tab], I enabled the media upload button through it and it works.
The default role of my site is contributor so [upload_files]capability is on, I double-checked it through another plugin.
And that contributor have the access to “media” in dashboard, upload works.
but when the contributor uploads through the button in the forum, it said “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.” I checked the upload folder and there’s no new files.
is there any solution to it?
Here’s my setup:
WordPress Version: 3.8
bbPress Version: 2.5.2
Operating System: Linux
Web Server: Apache
Theme: Twenty Twelve child theme
PHP Version: 5.3.3
Thanks for looking into this!
I am editing now my website cepinfo and windowshata
We have a couple of topics that have punctuation in them.
One of them: “Hello, I,m…”
If people are subscripted to this forum or post this is what they get in the subject line for the notification:
Hello, I'm…
Wordpress or bbPress is converting those characters to the html equivanant.
So, “‘” converts to ' and “…” converts to m…
This makes it really hard to read. Any way to fix this issue?

Another (most likely dumb) question I forgot to ask. This could be the answer to the missing(?) topics/replies. At the end of the conversion, the program shows in short intervals ‘-’ on the screen. This takes forever and lasted almost as long as the initial part of the conversion which grabbed the Rows. I thought the conversion was finished when the ‘-’ stopped appearing on screen ‘————’ etc. Was I supposed to wait for some kind of other message which indicates the conversion ended?
This is basically WordPress losing the connection with the MySQL database and is a right pain, once this occurs “nothing” is now happening, the import is essentially stopped.
So in answer to your question, most likely this is the result of the missing topic/replies.
So yes, at the end of the conversion, you’ll see “Conversion Complete” with a link to the repair tools.
With most of the databases I have had to test to get compatibility with the importers many of the sample databases I have been sent (I don’t have a license for most of the commercial forum packages) I make a copy of the database and then prune/delete all but ~10 topics, the topics replies, the topic and reply users. This makes testing a breeze as it completes in a couple of minutes, once I know all is good then I give it a whirl on the full database.
Stephen:
Bad news 🙁
I got the message: “Recalculating reply menu order … No reply positions to recalculate!”
But the replies are not in order…
Any ideas? Should we apply the fix at https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2586 ?
Thanks in advance
Luis
I had the same problem with a trial WP site I have running locally on my Mac, using MAMP.
The problem disappeared after I did…
