    Hello everybody,

I would like to know how to remove the light yellow box on top of my website. It shows the last post and the user profil.
I know I put this myself but I can’t remember how to remove it. Someone can help me?

    Best regards

I use bbpress 2.5.8 and the wordpress 4.4.2

So, I’m thinking of using bbPress for a forum I’m about to create. But, the more I read on this forum, the closer I get to the conclusion that bbPress is a dead project and should be buried. I’m writing this because I want to know if it really is as bad as it seems and in that case, why?!

So, I want my guest users to have the option to start forum threads and answer to topics, so far so good (but that’s about it). I also want the guest users (non logged in users) to be able to “quote” previous answers – a very basic forum function that is still not included in the most recent bbPress release?! I have searched this forum for answers about a quote function and as far as I can see it was promised to be a feature in the upcoming versions ABOUT 3½ YEARS AGO?! I’ve tried 3 plug ins to accomplish this without success. The Quote feature shows up if I’m logged in as admin, but not for guests. Same results for all the plug ins I’ve tried. Why is this not a standard feature yet?!

Another thing discussed here is the permalink function, the option to use wildcards to control how the forum permalink structure looks. There’s even a fantastic request about how this feature is supposed to work here: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2258 The priority is set as “low” though this is a critical and very useful feature?! Nothing has happened. WHY?!

It seems that this is the same for all requests for new features on this forum. A lot of users are asking the developers for the most basic functions any forum on the net should have, but 2, 3 even 4 years later, nothing has happened. Again, as far as I can see, this laziness and ignorance showed by the developers is always defended by a phrase that goes something like “bbPress is a basic forum and you can expend it to your hearts content with plug ins!” but that is not the case. There are so few plug ins for bbPress, and even fewer good ones that is currently being updated on a regular basis.

So, what the f*ck is going on with bbPress? Is there any point in considering bbPress when creating a forum with more >10 users? Why is notning happening?! Also, how would I go about fixing the Quote function problem. “Quote option” isn’t showing to any guest with any plug in.

Oddly, my “page attributes” and even plug-ins don’t seem to work on my forum page.
I click “Template: Full page width” under Page Attributes, but the forum page doesn’t become full width.
I also have a plug-in remover for “Title Remover”, I select it, but the title “Forum” remains on top of my forum webpage.

Also odd (and maybe a clue) , when I navigate to the forum page, the “edit page” option is missing from the top wordpress navigation bar. It is present on all other pages.

I can still edit the page by going to the dashboard – pages – forum (edit page), but as stated above, the edits I do for Page attributes and plug-in selections don’t seem to take effect on the webpage.

Why might the page attributes and plug-ins not be working on the forum page?

    Thanks

Okay….so I was on the WordPress forums thinking it was the bbPress forums….I know, I know. DUH!!

Complete NOOB here. I’m looking to create a forum based community.
I’m using Twenty Ten them and have started created my forum with bbPress.

I have a “Master Forum” with with sub-forums “North”, “Central” and “South”. It is displaying as:

    Location
    North (0, 0), Central (0, 0), South (0, 0)

I’m assuming the “(0,0)” after each sub-forum title is the number of topics and replies. I want to remove those on the main forum page so it looks like:

    Location
    North
    Central
    South

    Any ideas?

sorry someone has edited that page and made it less helpful.

    Try

Now we have some forums, we need to have somewhere to display them.
There are two ways to do this. Most themes support method 1, and this can (can not will) produce tighter theme integration on style [Note this was true for v 2.2 not sure if it still is !]. However Method 2 allows you to have some introductory words. Your choice…!
    Method 1
This requires a couple of checks first
    a. In Dashboard>settings>forums look for what is set in the forum root under the forum root slug heading. The default is ‘forums’ but you can set this to anything
    b. In Dashboard>settings>permalinks check that the common settings check is set to ‘postname’ If it isn’t and you don’t want to change it, then use method 2.
Now just create a wordpress page that has the heading that was found in a. above eg if the root slug is ‘forums’ create a page with the title ‘forums’, and save.
Once the permalink has been created, you can rename the page to whatever you wish eg ‘mysite forums’ (as the permalink will stay the same, and it is this permalink that bbpress looks for)
Save this page, add it to a menu if you are using custom menus, or decide its order if you have automatic menus. Then publish it to your site.
    Job done!
    Method 2
If either your theme doesn’t work with method 1, you don’t want permalinks with postname, or you want to use some introductory text (eg “welcome to our forums…”, then method 2 is for you.
    In dashboard>pages
    go to add new page
Call this ‘Forums’ or whatever you want your menu item to be.
Then in the content section, you may want to have some introductory words “welcome to the forum” etc. then add the following bbpress shortcode
    [bbp-forum-index]
Save this page, add it to a menu if you are using custom menus, or decide its order if you have automatic menus. Then publish it to your site.
You will now have a forum page, and a forum to display.

bbPress is tested with wordpress default themes. It maybe a conflict – you need to check plugins and themes

It could be a theme or plugin issue

    Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwelve, and see if this fixes.

If that is the only thing you want to remove, then the above CSS is the best. If you want more options, you can always have a look at my bbP-Toolkit on https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-toolkit/

    Hi,
I have a multisite but the subsites have nothing to see one with the other.
To my knowledge every subsite is independent when talking users. Have a look at this (old) topic but that seems to explain it quite wel : https://wordpress.org/support/topic/share-user-across-multisite-network?replies=30

I installed bbPress and am following the “creating content” instructions from this webpage:

    Creating Content

I created a forum using the instructions under “Creating a Forum”. The forum (called “Purchasing”) shows up under (Forums: All Forums) in my control panel.
The instructions say that my forum will be created at:
    http://yourdomain.com/forums/forum/yourforumname

But when I look at my wordpress pages in the control panel, there is no page for “forum” or any subforum created yet.

How do I actually put the forum as a “forum” page in my website? Even though I create forums, there is no forum page created. Do I have to create that top level “forum” page manually using an “add page” from my dashboard?
    Thanks,

    Hey guys,

First of all, thank you so much for making this very cool forum plugin for everyone to use!
I do one question, and I’ve just spent a few hours studying the archives and looking for answers, but the thing is… I haven’t really understood any of them. I don’t know anything about child themes, I have no idea how to look for specific codes, although of course I am able to implement changes to a code once I’ve found it. I’ve tried looking for a plug-in for changing the font size, but failed.
Now, my question would be: Is it possible for somebody who knows close to nothing about the matter to actually do it? I’m running version 2.5.8. My WordPress version is 4.4.2.

    My forum URL is http://lutrinians.com/forums/

All I can see under Plugins > Editor is:

    Plugin Files

    bbpress/bbpress.php
    bbpress/license.txt
    bbpress/languages/index.php
    bbpress/index.php
    bbpress/includes/index.php
    bbpress/humans.txt
    bbpress/templates/index.php
    bbpress/readme.txt

Also, I am not using any programmes to edit the codes, just doing it in the browser.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi guys,

I was working on my webpage for learning german. I’m now thinking of turning it into a forum. Is there any plugin, that allows the users to easily record their voice and upload it, so instead of texting the conversations would be acturally voice messages? Seems to make more sense to me for learning a language.

    Regards,
    Effex

Hi all, hope you’re doing well.

I noticed what I suspect is a bug a few weeks ago. After digging through the forums, disabling plugins, turning off custom functions and more, I cannot seem to identify the source of my following issue.

Basically, when the bbp_topic_freshness_link() function is called in loop-single-topic.php, for example, the URL should show something like:

    domain[dot]com/forum/topic/topic-title/page/2/#post-12345

Note that the /page/2/ part is only meant for threads that have more than one page of replies. So if that same example topic only had 2 replies, for example, the URL would have been:

    domain[dot]com/forum/topic/topic-title/#post-12345

So the issue I am having is that for some topics, when there are multiple pages, the /page/2/ part of the URL isn’t included. So when the link it clicked on, it goes to the first reply on the first page of the topic. What’s more baffling is that sometimes, the link without the /page/2/ bits included does go to the correct URL. I’ve tried this from multiple accounts and I cannot seem to uncover any meaningful patterns.

I did try to run the repair job titled “Recalculate last activity in each topic and forum” with no luck. All of the URLs are still randomly missing the page parts.

    A few potentially relevant notes:
    – I migrated my forum from SMF
    – All of my forums are private
    – I am using the “Go To First Unread Post” plugin but the issue still occurs when disabled

Does it sound like this issue related to this fix?: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2876

    Many thanks,
    Tim

    Aloha all,

Newbie and just installed bbPress and added my list of forums. I have done the initial troubleshooting of moving to twenty-twelve theme, disabled all plugins and redid the permalinks and such and still cannot pull up list of forums.

    http://www.fiduciaryforums.org/forum

Using bbPress 2.5.8 and WordPress 4.4.2

One other question, I wanted the forums to be installed under http://www.fiduciaryforums.org/forums and notice in my file structure it’s /forum. Any suggestions on how to much to /forums instead?

Thank you all for any help!

Or you could use a redirection plugin like mentioned on this page: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/wordpress-404-plugin/

    Hope it helps…

I have used Google Custom search previously. This is essentially a Google search over your site so will be limited to pages Google can see only. This will cover all areas of your site, including WordPress and any other apps / custom pages.

I think you have to show adsense ads on the search results page but that may or may not be a problem for you.

    Hi,

Please try to run the recalculation repair tools (Tools > Forums > Repair Forums), start with ‘Recalculate last activity in each topic and forum’.

If that did not work, try to switch to a default WordPress theme to make sure it’s not a problem with your current theme.

    Pascal.

    Hey there,

i have a problem. All topic replies have exact the same date as the topic itself. For example: If somebody created a topic on the 1st of february 4:30 pm, all replies will get the 1st of february 4:30 pm date as well. I really appreciate your help. My Users keep complaining about this bug.

    Cheers!
