    I have been with bbPress before it was a plugin for WordPress and have to thank all for the efforts and congratulate how far it has gone.
    I decided to stick with bbPress after researching many other forums software because of how easy it was to integrate with WordPress.

    Since I had some time off from college for the summer I decided to make my own customized theme for the whole site based on what I had. After several days playing with the CSS and a few functions/filters the whole site finally came together.

    http://wowlazymacros.com/forums

    There is still a few things that I would like to implement, like posts count (which I did but it did not update the numbers, I have to manually repair the forums to keep them updated?) and being able to assign more title ranks (I was able to with Cubepoints but that project seems dead).

    Just have a peek at my forums and let me know what you guys think. πŸ™‚

    I’ve got a couple thousand users that I’ve signed up as WordPress subscribers using Gravity Forms User Registration addon. So none of these users have an actual “Forum Role” assigned.

    I’ve been using bbPress 2.2.4 for awhile now and after updating to bbPress 2.3.4, any of these users trying to view a forum get the 404 error page. I can fix the issue for an individual user by manually giving them a “Participant” Forum Role. Or if I put my site back to bbPress 2.2.4, forums come back for everyone.

    Also, what’s interesting is that forums come up fine if a user isn’t logged in at all. But after they login, 404 errors.

    Is this some sort of bug in the updated version, or did something change in this regard I should be aware of?

    =====

    And I’m not sure if this is relevant, but this is on a multisite network using Multisite User Management plugin.

    Hello

    In Germany a court has decided that it is not allowed to save ip addresses permanently.

    I could change the function bbp_current_author_ip() in a way that it always returns 0.0.0.0 but as this is in the /wp-content folder it would be overwritten the next time bbp is updated.

    So which way should I take to set IP to 0.0.0.0 without modifying and including all the functions that use bbp_current_author_ip() in my theme’s functions.php?

    Thank you.

    I updated to the latest version of WordPress SEO and when I open my forums none of my threads populate and when I open a topic the most recent thread shows up but no user info or replies populate. I would like to continue using WordPress SEO as a lot of work has been done on it and afraid I will have to change to Ultimate SEO.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am currently using wordpress 3.4.2 and bbpress 2.02

    This solved itself partly when I removed the User Role Editor and replaced it with the plugin Members – then i where able to administer the administrators rights. And i where able to get the bbpress updated to the newest edition without loosing control over it.

    However im still unable to restore my topics and replies list in the forum. I have three .xml backups of the forum, the topics and the replies, but i struggle with getting them back up again.

    And it may be that the .xml files isn’t enough?

    Anyone know of a good .xml importer for the bbpress? To get my forums back online, or is this case lost?

    So, I am just noticing that when you post to a forum on another site on your activity isn’t updated. Also, your topics aren’t shown on your profile if you made them on a different site on the same network.

    My problems:

    • Activity isn’t updated for new topics and replies made on other networked sites.
    • On your BuddyPress profile under forums, it does not show topics you have made on other networked sites.

    Any way to fix these? Or should I submit a bug report. I just want to make sure it is a bug.

    Hi bbPress people,

    I’m currently working on a designers portal. I’ve installed buddypress and bbPress and made a forum. But when I click on the Forum tab in a group I only see “This forum contains 2 topics, and was last updated by”. How can I make it look normal (like here; a list)?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi All,

    I just updated WordPress, in doing so I can no longer see the links for the Forum that are normally in the admin sidebar (Forums, Topics, Replies).

    I can see where they are meant to be as the space that is normally above and below it is still there.

    I have disabled all plugins to make sure it wasn’t a conflict there.

    Any ideas how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi, i have searched different forums here, and tried different solutions but not yet found the right one.

    Im now using WordPress 3.5.2, and like many others here i have problems with my bbpress installation for 2.3.2, which started when the new bbpress plugin came out and i found my Forums menu had disappeared, and my admin user where locked out for trying to fix things straight. I tried this solution (“http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/lost-permissions-for-administrator/”)

    1) deactivate plugin + delete plugin
    2) manually installed older version from SVN (http://bbpress.svn.wordpress.org/branches/2.2/)
    3) export forum data (from Tools)
    4) reset forum plugin
    6) installed wordpress import plugin
    7) imported forum data

    ..and I where able to see my forums in the admin menu once again. However once i did update the plugin again, i where locked out and lost the forums in admin menu once again.

    I haven’t been able to administer the keymaster to my Admin, i have tried the solution (before i updated bbpress to 2.3.2) with “Admin \ Tools \ Forums \ Remap existing users to default forum roles” and it says OK – fixed 6 roles, but when i check my Admin user in the users list im still just a Forum Participant. (After update i don’t see Forums under Admin \ Tools)

    I try using the User Role Editor (but it may be i haven’t understood it fully yet… – im not able to administer the administrators capabilities through it, at least i havent found out how to do it), my Admin user has also another user name than “admin” – if that make this a problem?

    In my forum, i (the admin) and the subscriber/editor users, is able to see the forum and the under-forums, and how many topics and replies/posts there are, but when i click one of the under-forums with ex. 12 topics and 16 posts. I get the message:

    “This forum contains 12 topics and 4 replies…
    Oh bother! No topics were found here!”

    But im able to add new topics, and they seem to work like they should, but im not able to see my old topics, and i only see one reply – when i follow the freshness-link – it also acts in different ways – sometimes i get to a page – that

    Im not too used with coding, so please explain carefully what i could/should do?
    (And my english may not be all correct, as its not my main language).

    My page is at http://www.politiorkester.no (in Norwegian) and the forum is hidden – since its on a membership required page.

    @johnjamesjacoby I believe this link is the source of the problem… I think if this page is updated to be made current, it will solve a lot of confusion.

    PROGRESS:

    I updated the data-url to a standard page (such as /about-us/ ) and the counter works.

    In conclusion, i believe it may be the # character in the replies url (e.g. #post-234) that could somehow conflict with Twitter.

    If anybody knows about it, please any help would be appreciate, if not, I will try to explore a solution and post it here for everyone to see.

    Cheers from London.
    Ramiro.

    Hello,
    I just installed bbPress and am developing locally but when I create a new Topic from the front-end I get the following error:
    ERROR: Are you sure you wanted to do that?
    I’m not trying to do anything fancy (no sticky, no tags, no email subscription) and I checked using Twenty Eleven and had the same problem. I also updated the permalinks.

    WordPress 3.5.1.
    bbPress 2.3.2

    I’d be most grateful if someone could shed some light on this.

    Just updated Trac.

    Here’s my latest findings/ questions on this matter:

    Hey JJ, just wanted to drop back in here.
    I’ve duplicated my live site on a brand new dedicated server and the behaviour I was seeing on my shared server is still there.

    I’ve been doing some tests with a server analyst from my host and his initial thoughts are that WP or BBPress, BP is waiting for a ‘true’ return on mail confirmation before it’s actually allowing any php to continue/ refresh the page to let the user see his post.

    If I open up a new browser window and refresh the activity stream for example – AS THE OTHER WINDOW IS STILL PROCESSING THE POST – I can see that it has actually ALREADY been posted.
    This means the post is being written to the DB pretty quickly and mail is starting to be sent with the topic reply subscription notifications, but it seems that the page can’t refresh for the poster until the mail has been sent and some kind of confirmation of that has been received.
    It makes no difference whether I send the email locally or through SMTP (Google Apps), so it’s not the mail server being slow.

    The topic that this is worst on still only has about 30 subscribers though, so it’s hardly hundreds or thousands.

    I’m guessing that not many users even on BIG sites will get loads more than 30 or so for each topic, so this is why this may have gone unnoticed in the past.
    Could you guys explain to me the process of what BBPress is actually going through BEFORE it is allowed to refresh the page the user who is posting is on.
    Their post is being posted way before they get to see it – does the page wait for confirmation of the emails being sent.

    There isn’t a problem posting new topics with no replies or very few voices.
    I think it has to be something along these lines. Thanks! πŸ™‚

    I’m starting a new thread for my problem since no one is replying to my old thread and I still desperately need help! If anyone is interested the old thread is here:

    http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/post-import-cleanup-help-needed/#post-134121

    Basically what is happening is that I cannot use the Tools > Forums > Import tool to successfully import my old bbPress 1 forums/topics/replies to my newly upgraded WordPress DB…. in a nutshell here’s what has happened and where I’m at:

    1. Updated WP to 3.5.1 and updated bbPress (initially) to 2.2.4;
    2. Tried to import from my old bb_ tables but first attempt resulted in NO parent forums being converted so all topics showed “No Forum” in the Forum column;
    3. Made a second attempt and made sure to check “Purge all information from a previously attempted import” thinking (silly me) that this would actually purge the previously imported data. FAIL.
    4. Second attempt actually duplicated everything so I had twice as many topics/replies in my wp_posts table;
    5. Following the instructions from the previous thread I manually deleted *all* of the imported topics and replies from my wp_posts and wp_postmeat tables, so that I could start fresh, and then asked for more help to continue since I had no confidence that the import function would work properly;

    Since I received no further replies, I tried importing again after updating the bbPress plugin to the current version (2.3.2) but had the same FAILURE of Parent Forums to import – during the conversion I saw the message “No parent forums to convert”, and all topics showed “No Forum” after importing. Oddly, the parent Forums showed up when you clicked on the link to the Forums from the website, and had a number in the column to show how many Topics were in that parent forum, but clicking on any of the forum names then showed no Topics for that forum.

    SO NOW I’m back to square one – I scrapped all of that again and now have a fresh database of all my wp_ tables WITHOUT the imported bbPress data, and the bb_tables in a separate database waiting to be imported.

    WHAT is the secret to successfully migrating from bbPress 1 to bbPress 2. WHY does the Import Forums not work as it should?

    I have an active (well it used to be anyway) forum that has now been offline for over a month and have numerous complaints from forum members……I REALLY need help to get this fixed….

    I have added a new input line to the form-user-edit.php I plan to add more and have these either via functions.php or a plugin when I have got it working, but for the moment am changing the .php itself.

    So for now I have put in new line, copying the syntax of another one :`<label for=”town”><?php _e( 'Town', 'bbpress' ); ?></label>
    <input type=”text” name=”town” id=”town” value=”<?php echo esc_attr( bbp_get_displayed_user_field( 'town' ) ); ?>” class=”regular-text” tabindex=”<?php bbp_tab_index(); ?>” />`

    This works fine, except how do I get this to save the info? It lets me change it, but doesn’t let me save it.

    However if I set a row in phpmyadmin, then this code displays it, but again doesn’t not save a change.

    What bit of logic am I missing?

    I managed to fix the issue in a strange way… Went to bbpress plugin settings, temporarily set default role to keymaster (was still showing there), updated options – from then on, I was able to see “keymaster” role also in edit users panel. I assigned “Keymaster” to my admin and problem was fixed.

    Hi there,

    I’m new to WordPress and BB Press so if this is a stupid question I am asorry!

    My website forum is located here: http://www.clinicalrecoveryspecialists.com/forums/

    2 questions:

    Is there a way to Create a Header or Welcome Announcement at the top of the page above the forum itself?

    Also, it loooks like the name of the Forum is pulling from the Title of the Website, is there a way to change that? I would like to rename it if possible.

    Just a note: I am using most updated versions of WordPress and BBpress as well.

    I appreciate the help!!

    Hello!

    I’ve been having this problem for so long I didn’t really notice it until some members on my site complained about it. Apparently, my forums page’s load time is quite long when you’re loading mysite.com/forums. I have buddypress running and I’m not able to configure my wordpress page to buddypress forums, I guess since bbpress is running. Everything is updated to the highest update. My breadcrumbs directly links most of my pages to the forum index; is there a way to have my page not redirect to itself?

    Just installed the beta tester plug in and updated to v2.4-alpha and it did NOT fix this…

    Can you include more(any) information on what you’re seeing? From my testing, it’s fixed in trunk and in the 2.3.2-alpha, and fixed here on bbPress.org also.
