I just installed fresh latest WordPress + latest bbPress + several plugins (I have deactivated now) + Members plugin (a role manager plugin).

Create new roles of

– Forum Newbie

– Forum Member

The problem is when I trying to manage limit access to specific forum / post’s content it not work.

As sample for Forum A I limit access only to Admin, but others still can get it. Anyone have this problem before? I still trying some possible solutions.

Testing this now, not having any weird compatability issues. I use a child theme of twentyeleven I made. I did notice however that I lost alot of css customizations on the forum. Did you go go with a tableless layout or something?

I only mention it because I was using forum Icons on the main forum page, and it’s kinda hard to position them now. Not a big deal or anything.

Hi please can you assist. For some of my users the default edit profile link in BBpress does not work. It simply refreshes to the same page without going to the user/edit link. Yet for some of my users it works fine. I don’t see any relationship between those that can and those that can’t, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I am using the plugin version of 2.02 with latest wordpress in MU.

I was testing the bbPress because I was dissatisfied with BuddyPress … I give up of bbPress too.. you must have confidence in a forum script to put into production .. I do not trust in bbPress… do not recommend..

I have once before integrated an older release of bbPress 2 which worked fine, i was able to get all the templates to inherit from the activate WordPress theme but in the latest release that inheritance seems to have stopped working for me. Here’s a rundown of what i have done:

1. Copied all the files from within /bbpress/bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten to the current theme i have activated
2. I have merged the activate themes functions.php file with the functions.php file from bbp-twentyten and removed the extra 2 occurrences for style.css
3. Re-named all occurrences of Twenty-Ten to %THEME_NAME%
4. Ensured add_theme_support('bbpress') exists at the top of my activate themes functions.php file

I have tried everything i physically can, i can modify the files within my themes bbpress folder but just am unable to get the page-* files to respect my changes. I have more then likely overlooked something but i have spent a good 1-2 hours reading through thread after thread and have come up empty handy.

how can I get these translations to have effect? I have set WordPress language to Romanian and uploaded the bbpress-ro_RO.po and bbpress-ro_RO.mo files to wp-content/languages/ and wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-languages/ but it didn’t affect anything.

I’m looking forward to create translations for another language but I’m first testing how it works.

We still have a problem with spam and bbPress. We’re still getting 40+ spam posts a day. We have tried quite a few things to get rid of this problem but nothing seems to be working.

Currently our site is running the latest version of bbPress, we have the Akismet Plugin activated & running, and we also have the Stop Spammer Registrations reCAPTCHA Plugin for new user registration.

We have tried the reCaptcha for bbPress 2.0 this didn’t make much difference and we couldn’t use this Plugin in conjunction with the spammer registration Plugin so have removed it for now for testing.

Hi All!

I’m getting quite far and have overcome a few problems myself which has been fun, but I am stuck with the style issue.

I am running a theme called Continuum, with a child theme that adds a few extra bits to the main theme.

I got as far as installing the files from the settings folder into my child theme folder (actually functions.php and style.css were overwritten because Filezilla did not warn me!!!)

Was that supposed to happen? Because it messed up the theme (although bbPress page style looked miles better) it still did not look much better than what it currently is: http://www.coffeesocial.co.uk/forums/forum/coffee-social-forum/

That aside, I went back and replaced the functions and style files with the correct ones from the original child theme to make my website look and function right.

Can I merge the two files style and functions to then include both necesarry code elements to let my theme and bbPress look correct?

It would be stupid to let the bbPress style and funcions overwrite becasue then it would mess up everyones themes. What did you guys do to get it working on a custom theme (i.e. not the one that comes with bbPress).

There’s a “Zip Archive” link on the bottom of https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/plugin that will download the latest version. I hope you are aware 2.1 is a development version, not a released version of bbPress.

I’m having two issues, number 1 is that No emails go out when people attempt to register for the site

Number two is all of my posts show up as anonymous, and the threads show up as empty.

I am hosting this out of my own home, running the latest Apache and MySql through XAMPP.

I have test bbpress locally using my theme (it’s premium theme) and I have the same problem as you are (sidebar displays below the main content). I will follow this thread.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say thanks for creating this plugin. The possibilities with it are only limited by a persons skill with php, and of course, their imagination.

Using this plugin, and attempting to build a website around it has dramatically increased my understanding of WordPress, PHP, and everything in between. Before I started tinkering around with this thing I didn’t even know what an array was, nor did I have the slightest understanding of loops, queries, actions, or functions. If I needed something on my website, I used plugins, which often slowed everything down quite a bit and created a ton of conflicts. Now I’m not only designing the website I wanted, but I’m understanding it’s architecture.

Though I am a long way from finishing it, I feel like I actually have the ability complete it on my own, which never would have happened without this plugin.

So thank you again to the creators of bbpress, you truly are the last surviving Jedi Masters of wordpress.

I’m new to bbPress and I am testing it right now to see if it is a good replacement candiate for a phpbb forum I own.

I’ve set up version 2.0.2 on WP 3.3.

I’ve ‘done’ the extensive installation video on YT, which was very helpful.

Although I really appreciate the cleanliness of bbPress, my forum members really need a few addtional features, like bbCode and PM’s.

I found both plugins, but they claim not to be compatible with bbPress 2.x

Also they’re referring to an installation system I don’t get, where is ppPress ‘myplugins’ directory located?? I cannot seem to find this folder, where should it be?

Thanks for helping me out! (and a version compatible indicator in the plugin section of this site would be very helpful for beginners like me!)

The forum is integrated with Buddypress. I have removed the Buddypress group option, and use it as a forum only. I have not modefied other than the css yet.

I would like to have a latest post link on top or a exerpt of the latest 5 posts, but I have not found where to mod in the theme files.. I would like to find some good tutorials on bbpress mods, and I would appriciate if any of you shared a good tutorial link..

I use the standalone version of bbPress (1.1).

According to the instructions found on this forum I did the following:

– downloaded most recent NL .po and .mo

– created a new directory my-languages in bbPress

– edit the config-php and added nl_NL at BB_LANG

Most strings are then translated, but not everything.

E.g. on the front page of the forum:

– Search

– Latest Discussion,

– Main theme etc.

I cannot find these strings in the po file.

I’m working on a multisite network using latest stable versions of Buddypress and BBPress.

I’m building a child theme to bp-default, but I can’t find the right template files for the forum par of the site.

Is it really:

wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten

Or should I be looking in:

wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress

Or perhaps somewhere else?

@shoo, 169k is nothing… I’ve got on with 3.5M posts and estimated it’ll take almost a week to import… lol Got another one running right now that’s got 300k and it’s been running 22 hours and is maybe 2/3 the way done.

The problem is with the meta updates and the way WP stores that kind of stuff there’s a boat load of inserting going on for every post. I’m hoping to take a look at the script in a few days to see if I can help it along.

@citizenkeith, if you are using the lastest version of the converter it should be pulling the correct dates. At least it is for VB now, where it wasn’t on the last version.
