Hi All!
I’m getting quite far and have overcome a few problems myself which has been fun, but I am stuck with the style issue.
My theme and test is here: http://www.coffeesocial.co.uk/forums/forum/coffee-social-forum/
I am running a theme called Continuum, with a child theme that adds a few extra bits to the main theme.
I got as far as installing the files from the settings folder into my child theme folder (actually functions.php and style.css were overwritten because Filezilla did not warn me!!!)
Was that supposed to happen? Because it messed up the theme (although bbPress page style looked miles better) it still did not look much better than what it currently is: http://www.coffeesocial.co.uk/forums/forum/coffee-social-forum/
That aside, I went back and replaced the functions and style files with the correct ones from the original child theme to make my website look and function right.
Can I merge the two files style and functions to then include both necesarry code elements to let my theme and bbPress look correct?
It would be stupid to let the bbPress style and funcions overwrite becasue then it would mess up everyones themes. What did you guys do to get it working on a custom theme (i.e. not the one that comes with bbPress).
Cheers
Hello, I’ve just set up bbPress 1.03
I’m having two issues, number 1 is that No emails go out when people attempt to register for the site
Number two is all of my posts show up as anonymous, and the threads show up as empty.
I am hosting this out of my own home, running the latest Apache and MySql through XAMPP.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say thanks for creating this plugin. The possibilities with it are only limited by a persons skill with php, and of course, their imagination.
Using this plugin, and attempting to build a website around it has dramatically increased my understanding of WordPress, PHP, and everything in between. Before I started tinkering around with this thing I didn’t even know what an array was, nor did I have the slightest understanding of loops, queries, actions, or functions. If I needed something on my website, I used plugins, which often slowed everything down quite a bit and created a ton of conflicts. Now I’m not only designing the website I wanted, but I’m understanding it’s architecture.
Though I am a long way from finishing it, I feel like I actually have the ability complete it on my own, which never would have happened without this plugin.
So thank you again to the creators of bbpress, you truly are the last surviving Jedi Masters of wordpress.
I’m new to bbPress and I am testing it right now to see if it is a good replacement candiate for a phpbb forum I own.
I’ve set up version 2.0.2 on WP 3.3.
I’ve ‘done’ the extensive installation video on YT, which was very helpful.
Although I really appreciate the cleanliness of bbPress, my forum members really need a few addtional features, like bbCode and PM’s.
I found both plugins, but they claim not to be compatible with bbPress 2.x
Also they’re referring to an installation system I don’t get, where is ppPress ‘myplugins’ directory located?? I cannot seem to find this folder, where should it be?
Thanks for helping me out! (and a version compatible indicator in the plugin section of this site would be very helpful for beginners like me!)

Topic: A heavy metal forum
I have made a forum for heavy metal music here: http://metalwebonlineradio.com/Metalforums/
The forum is integrated with Buddypress. I have removed the Buddypress group option, and use it as a forum only. I have not modefied other than the css yet.
I would like to have a latest post link on top or a exerpt of the latest 5 posts, but I have not found where to mod in the theme files.. I would like to find some good tutorials on bbpress mods, and I would appriciate if any of you shared a good tutorial link..
I’m working on a multisite network using latest stable versions of Buddypress and BBPress.
I’m building a child theme to bp-default, but I can’t find the right template files for the forum par of the site.
Is it really:
wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten
Or should I be looking in:
wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress
Or perhaps somewhere else?
Topic: ERRORs with buddypress
heres my site
its not letting me post a new topic….. i filled out the topic line with “this is a tester”
and it said
ERROR: Your topic cannot be empty.
also i noticed at the top it said
Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ was given in /home/content/32/5264432/html/de5igno/dosebox/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 170
its not letting me post a reply… i filled out the text box but still it says
ERROR: Your reply cannot be empty.
and
Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ was given in /home/content/32/5264432/html/de5igno/dosebox/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 170

Topic: Won't let me start topics
I believe that I have installed bbPress correctly and setup the shortcodes so that the forum displays on my site (both the topics, login, and registration). But the problem is that once I believe I’m logged in and I click on a topic to try to add something, it will not let me. It says this:
“You must be logged in to create new topics.”
Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? I setup a new user to test it out and this is what I’m getting the problem with. I setup blank topics ok when I’m logged in as administrator so is it an issue with user rights? Here is my forum:
Topic: Display BBpress version
How to display the BBpress Version anywhere? I want to provide a download link showing the latest version on my WP Blog
Here’s the problem I’m facing:
– Yesterday, I created the following website – http://smallworldexperiences.com/
– I added the Facebook Connect mod. It worked great for a day.
– I woke this morning and it wasn’t working. I hadn’t make any changes.
– I tested the site with Facebook’s debugger http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
– I made the appropriate changes so no errors are reported from Facebook’s end but the button still doesn’t work. Nothing happens, it’s simply dead.
Any thoughts as to what’s going wrong here?
Here is the site I’m working on: http://testtrack.tv/forums
It’s WordPress site using a custom child theme of the Thematic wordpress theme/framework.
As you can see, I have used the WordPress functions.php to filter away the sidebar to get a full width layout. Other than that, I have just the styles.css of my theme to restyle the forums slightly.
However, as far as I can tell bbPress doesn’t have a built in login/register link anywhere on the forums – why on earth not? Did I miss something?
Therefore, can anyone tell me how I add a simple login/register link within bbPress? As I’m not using the sidebar, I can’t add a widget there.
Any help hugely appreciated.
Goal: Add BuddyPress with GROUP forums using bbPress.
Situation: Current WordPress has bbPress installed as a SINGLE forum. BuddyPress is not installed yet.
Problem: (on a test WordPress site) When I add BuddyPress, bbPress uses existing files and shows up as a SINGLE forum and will NOT show up as a GROUP forum.
Q1. How do I remove/restructure bbPress so I can add BuddyPress with bbPress as a GROUP forum? (I am ok with losing current bbPress data, but would prefer to backup for a different use.)
Q2. WHERE is current bbPress forum DATABASE so I can copy (then remove) it before I install BuddyPress with Group Forums using bbPress?
Thank you for help!
