    Hello,
I am having the exact same problem.

2 weeks ago I had downloaded the forum and was able to have others test it and it worked fine without anybody having to register.

However, now that is not the case. I have gone to forum settings and made sure that I unclicked the ‘anonymous posting’ box, making it possible for anybody to post (Theoretically).

I have also gone to the “Discussions” settings and unclicked the box “users must be logged in and registered to comment).

Originally when I uploaded the forum, people who replied had to enter their name, email and optionally their website. That was fine. Where did it go? I can’t recall if there has been an upgrade since then.

My site is http://www.cclhdn.org and you can see “MEMBER FORUM” on the top menu (far right).

I use Suffusion theme, and have also recently dowloaded Askimet and bbPressCaptcha. However, the problem was there before I did this. Also, I can’t figure out how to use bbpressCaptcha with bbPress, but maybe that will come when people can actually respond.

I would really appreciate some help with this, I’ve been trying to fix this for about 3 days now and need it to be done by the time of a newsletter launch this Thurs!

    Thanks,
    Rebecca

Just downloaded the bbPress for the forum option and trying to mess with it before I can tell my company to use it. Able to create forum and topic and link them to each other. Also, able to embed the forum in a page. Now everything is set up on the forum for public and open, but when I visit the forum to test it, it won’t let me reply to it.

I am doing this in a different browser and not logged in on that browser so that doesn’t mess it up. Please help.

i’m using bbpress with buddypress, latest versions of both and latest version of wp.

the recent topic widget displays topics from private group forums to everyone… groups are private for a reason… is this a bug or?

Sorry for butting in your conversation, but is there always a way that you can add the thumbnails against the latest topics, from the featured image?

    Hi,

I have searched but cannot find a plugin that works as a widget – it lists your latest topics, along with a thumbnail of the featured image you’ve added to the topic. The widget can be used in your main WordPress powered blog to promote the forum.

Does anyone know if there’s such a plugin out there?

just installed fresh copy and have same issue. You can check on: http://ersi.stig.al/wp/
    login & pass: test

Wordpress is in Russian, but the plugins are in English

Huh. That’s interesting. I’ll need to investigate this. Anything unique to your setup that would be helpful for testing?

I updated to the latest version of WordPress SEO and when I open my forums none of my threads populate and when I open a topic the most recent thread shows up but no user info or replies populate. I would like to continue using WordPress SEO as a lot of work has been done on it and afraid I will have to change to Ultimate SEO.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am currently using wordpress 3.4.2 and bbpress 2.02

I am using the latest versions of wordpress and bbpress. After I installed my bbpress, created categories and forum and created a link to the index it won’t move up or down. I click on the link and it takes my to a page that doesn’t have a bbpress sidebar but it has a wordpress sidebar. I can’t move up or down in my forum. I read somewhere that my theme may not be compatible with bbpress WP Tweaks. Also, not all of my forum is showing. Where it say freshness is being squeezed to the left of my screen. How can I get all of my forum to show up on one page, how can I get my forum to move up and down and is there a way to have my forum show up in a separate window or page. In otherwords, I don’t want my wordpress sidebar to show up on my bbpress forum page.

BBpress has reduced the text editor to a minimal one that is really sub-par, in my opinion. I would really like to use something like a TinyMCE version that works for all of the users. There is this one, set up for bbpress, but only authors and above see it: http://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-enable-tinymce-visual-tab/

We are an arts org and we need to have good ways to share visual content. I loaded GD BBPress Attachments which is fine for uploading images and docs, but you can’t insert them into the text: http://www.dev4press.com/plugin/gd-bbpress-attachments/

I found this one: http://premiumsoftware.net/CLEditor/Index, but it’s not as nice as the TinyMCE ones that I’ve used and it shows the bbpress one (the minimal one) right above it, so that is confusing, too. Do you have any recommendations of what would work well for us?

    Site: http://www.tafaforum.com/
We’re using the latest updates of bbPress, etc.

I’m pretty savvy (even though I don’t write code) and I don’t even know what “ol” means, much less the other artists who are using our forum…

hi there. the problems seems to be not a normal behaviour. dont know why, but on a testpage i have no problems.

i think thats this behaviour has nothing to do with my theme. perhaps with the following:
    – wordpress with german language file
    – many plugins installed

someone can help me? do you need more information?

This is the single most important update/plugin I am waiting/hoping for.
Would make bbpress more like the VBulletin and IPBoard.

AM still looking to solve this.

I am attempting to import bbpress 1 forum into the new bbpress plugin on a new site using the Import Forums tool in WordPress. I successfully did this in a test – once. I tried to do another test and haven’t been able to do it again successfully. When I start the conversion I get the yellow box at the bottom “Starting Conversion” and the turning wheel… the wheel keeps turning… an hour later, it’s still turning. It’s not progressing. I have to quit out of it. There is no new data in the DB. What is the issue here?

One step further: if I try to submit this code in my test environment (local network), it works just fine.

Does anyone have an idea how to debug/approach this issue?

    Hello,

I would like to know how to make the “frontpage” of our forum exactly like this forum (bbPress Support). The frontpage should have a paginated “stream” with the latest topics, in the sidebar I should have the forums categories, etc.

Can you please give me a hint?

    Thanks!

Seems that it is quite outdated but how you measure your server response time? Have you checked how your server responds for different locations? Try these to tools http://www.dotcom-monitor.com/WebTools/website-performance-test.aspx and http://www.dotcom-monitor.com/WebTools/free-server-uptime-test.aspx

These two are in need of a serious overhaul and I lack the skills to do it. Please read this text and let me know if you agree or if I’m looking for something nobody else needs?

Lets look at the recent replies widget:
If I have the widget show the last 10 replies, and the last 10 replies happened to be on the same topic, you only see that one topic, everything else is drowned out.
The good thing is, if I click on a reply, I jump straight to that reply, not to the beginning of the topic.

Lets look at the recent topics widget:
Sorting by newest topics, this is pretty neat but I wish one could also show the specific forum with each recent topic shown. Clicking a topic sends you to the beginning of that particular topic, which is cool, after all its a new topic.

Now to get what I was looking for with regards to the recent replies, I am now using the recent topics widget but sorted by topics with recent replies. Except that it doesn’t list the latest poster but the thread creator and it links to the topic’s beginning and not to the latest reply.

I kinda feel we had a lot more power, plugins and extensibility with the old bbpress before version 2 came along.

Unfortunately, I’m not a coder so I can either wait until someone helps out or move to another solution.

    Any thoughts?

I am working on getting a drupal forum migrated to bbpress. I am using the bbpress importer tool. The forum I am migrating has about 4000 topics and 40000 replies. The migration works fine for a few topics, but seems to get stuck at random places after about a 1000 records are migrated. This makes me think that it is not a data problem. More likely some sort of timeout.

Have any of you experienced something similar? I am running things locally with the most recent stable versions of WP and bbpress.

Here is my script. It is not well-tested. Any suggestions for improvements are welcome and feel free to use it as part of bbpress in whatever way you feel like.

    Hi there,
has anybody a solution for this problem?
If I had known that before, I won’t have tested this plugin…

    Thank you for any hints!

I should add that I’m using Twenty Eleven (modified via a child theme).

This isn’t the actual site, but here’s an example of what’s going wrong: http://www.jrpgclub.com/forum/test-forum-1/

Hi there, I am trying to hook into the single topic / post but can’t find the right view.

Basically I would like to add to a filter right after “Favorite | Subscribe”.

I have tried bbp_theme_before_topic_title for a single topic however it only works for Home › Forums › …

I need hooks that will work for Home › Forums › Test › Test topic

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
