well i havent tested the plugin at all yet

but it might take a little time, for the related topics to show up .
you might need a certain number of topics before it will show up.
configuration on your side is wrong.
or you might not even need that yarpp for bbpress plugin maybe yarrp just does it by itself now.

but i can bring up a recent example to show that for sure

Halo 2 anniversary edition & Halo 5 beta

at the bottom of this topic there is related topics and they are for sure powered by yarpp related posts widget

It could be a theme or plugin issue

    Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwelve, and see if this fixes.

    Then come back and report

I’m sitting here on a beautiful sunny afternoon in Melbourne typing this on my iPad…

The above was line # 1, this would be line #3,
    line #4,
    line #5

    line #7

    line #9

    line #10,
    line #11,
    line #12,
    line #13,
    line #14,

This “should” work fine and I’ve not heard of this before, can you test this with a WordPress default theme or two, Twenty Fourteen and Twenty Thirteen, I expect this to be a theme issue with whatever theme your using rather than a bbPress issue.

To add to the above post, I just default theme and bbpress, buddypress plugins and bbp BuddyPress profile information except with the testing and the issue continues. I did not test the plug-first rule, because it did not want to rule out any conflicts.

Just got an email there was activity in this thread, and it got me over here to share:

This morning I put an animated smiley under my profile information at the bottom using this plugin! Didn’t know if you could put images in the text field option, but you can, at least with my setup, haven’t checked default theme, etc.

I tested it with both bbCode, which I have active through a different plugin, and html.

I tried deactivating the other plugins but this did not help. It definitely seems to be related to the bbpress plugin. I’m using the latest version of WP. I’m trying to migrate an existing site http://colonclub.com over to a new host. The current site uses phpBB forum but we would like to switch to bbpress if possible. I can provide you with a login to check things out if that helps.

wp 4.0 bbpress 2.5.4 permalink settings default – top level forums work, sub level forums don’t work

wp 4.0 bbpress 2.5.4 permalink settings postname – top level forums work, sub level forums do work

are JJJ or Netweb anywhere around to dig into this?????

From what other plugin authors have delved into, one of the issues (and maybe the only issue) seems to be related to the fact that bbpress sets the array $default[‘s’] in all cases on bbp_has_replies – if a search to the search, but if not a search to ‘FALSE’. Under wp4.0 it seems that if this variable is set at all, it is taken as true, so the query is assumed as true, which then returns no results and maybe hense why a 404 or nothing displayed.

I have done a quick change to bbp_has_replies to test this.

If anyone else out there still has problems with 404’s or topics/replies not showing and is on wp4, can they try the very optimistically (!) named bbpress wp4 fix plugin, and let me know if it makes a difference !+

Given that you’ve downgraded, suspect you won’t want to upgrade again to do a test !

    Hi,

I installed bbpress on my WP4.0 install.

I created a page and added the forum-index to it. The problem is that the breadcrumbs nav on top of the forum index shows not “Forum” as root, but instead “About us/Forums”.

“About us” is of course the title of a page that was once used as static frontpage, but currently the install is set to use “latest posts”. I re-confirmed that NO STATIC FRONT PAGE is used (in Appearance/Customize, as well as in Settings/Reading).

It seems to me that BBPress is somehow using the static front page setting, even though it is deactivated.

In an attempt to solve the problem, I re-set “latest posts” as frontpage setting, refreshed permalinks – no change.

The only way to fix this turned out to be to trash the page in question and then restore it. After doing this, the Breadcrumbs correctly read “Home > Forums”.
Apparently bbpress doesn’t update its breadcrumbs when the homepage is changed from static pages to latest posts.

If you’re on wordpress 4.0 then there are some issues with themes and plugins, so it could be a theme or plugin issue

    Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Hi,

I am having exactly the same problem. I am also using the latest bbpress 2.5.4 and the newest version of wordpress. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

How do I remove the “User” on the topic overview.

I want to keep “latest activity”. But not the User.

I’ve marked the row I want removed in this picture:

upgrading to wp 4.0 has caused some issues with bbpress and some themes and other plugins

I’d see if this is the case for you, so as a test try

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

I hope it’s OK to post something like this…

I’m brand new to bbpress and not a professional developer. I’m using it with Buddypress on my new site – I’m moving a community from Facebook to the site. A lot of my members are not very net-savvy and are unfamiliar with how forums works. So, I’m trying to offer familiar functions that they’ve seen on Facebook. The forum is going to be the main hub of the site, so I need to get it look good and easy to use.

Set up has gone well, but the forum is just looking a bit dull.

Is there a better way I can display the forum to show the activity?

Are there any other plugins people would recommend to make the forums as similar as possible to what my members have been used to in the Facebook group?

I have a Latest Activity feed on the site homepage which shows all forum activity:
This looks a bit more compelling than the forum page, but it would be nice if it could have things like reply buttons or ‘Go to forum’ to make it more obvious how people can get in the conversations.

Just looking for suggestions really. Thanks. 🙂

There is also the Meta Title for the tags pages and search pages who looks like that :

    http://www.site.com/forums/topic-tag/test4/

    http://www.site.com/forums/search/test7/

How can I modify the meta title for the profile, search and tag pages ?

    Thanks

thanks but it does in fact kill the page if I add text above the shortcode. My theme is Divi and I’m on the latest WP and all. Pretty generic actually.

Hi, took a while (been checking a lot of backups to pinpoint the moment of the bug appearing). But I could recreate te same by setting up a new site, add a second admin to the site and then installing and activating BackWpup, checking the settings (a nice new column in Users named ‘BackWPup role’, and still all standard roles available on a new user), then installing and activating bbPress and bingo. Only the first admin (or probably the admin who installed bbPress, thats the fitting scenario for the live site) is now Keymaster, for new accounts there are only 4 standard roles available (no admin, only subscriber, writer, author and editor).
Opening All users shows both users are actually Site Role = admin, BackWPup Role = BackWPup Admin and Forum Role only the user installing bbPress is Keymaster.
Then when I open the other user and scroll down to Site Role (named just Role here) IT shows — No role for this site –. Scrolling down shows both the role setting for BackWPup and Forums, with BackWPup defaults to BackWPup Admin (probably because I didn’t configure it yet) and Forum Role = — No role for these forums –.
In our live site I see the following: With bbpress installed, activated, used with some forums and 3 different users, in the user edit view there’s a Role field (limited to the 4 lesser roles), a BackWPup Role and a Forum role.
When we deactivate bbpress the Forum Role is gone, but now the Forum Roles are visible in the Site Role list, next to the aforementioned roles, still lacking the Admin role.
The same happens when deactivating bbpress on my test site.

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for responding! I actually updated from 2.5.2 to 2.5.4. Before I updated, I could just activate bbpress on a site-by-site basis on the multisite network and folks could use it just on their particular site. When I updated from 2.5.2 to 2.5.4, they could activate it on their site and I could see Forums, Topics, Replies but they couldn’t. I tested with the various roles and only Network Admin could see the menu items Forums, Topics, Replies. However, the actual forums were there and if I sent the site admin or site editor, etc., a direct link to the site forum, then could access it. It’s just the menu item visibility that’s the problem.

    Thanks!
