In one of our site, bbPress is used to display forum.
But bbpress.css is loading on the home page, where there is no widget or no forum.

Hi there, first of all, sorry if this is something everybody knows, i did try to google it but came up with only things that aren’t the same as what i’m looking for.

What i would like is for an image preview of some sort to come up within the post or reply, in bbpress, whenever somebody pastes a URL. Ideally it should only happen for the first URL in each post or reply, and ignore any subsequent URLs, but if that’s fiddly then just something that will generate previews for any URLs posted would be very helpful.

That’s me posting an OP in my bbpress forum, and as you can see i pasted some text from a web page, and then a URL link to the page. Now what would be ideal is if the post also automatically showed a picture, drawn from the URL, inline within the bbprss post, in the same way that facebook pulls a picture in when you post a URL on their site.

Is there a plugin that does this, or some simple tweak i can make to the config files of the site to make this happen? I’m not totally ignorant of how to use php and CSS but for the sake of argument, please assume that i am, because it isn’t far from the truth!

I am using DI Business Responsive theme, though i don’t think that makes much difference for this particular question.

Hay. New here. I tried to create a theme from scracth using pure html php and etc

At first, it was normal. It functions normally and the UI is not as messed up as right now.

I tried uninstalling bbpress, tried using different way of calling the forums and it still doesn’t work. Try looking at the css and tweak it, still doesn’t change.

Any idea? or any place I should edit my code?

Need some help getting this forum looking decent on a mobile. I’ve toned it back to a very basic one page forum and it looks fine on desktop/laptop etc, but the mobile layout is horrible..even if I can get the words “last post” to show on one line.

I’ve played around with the responsive settings on CSS (all back to default now when this screenshot was taken)..but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Agreed, this is necessary for large imports, I initially had a database of 110K+ users and 2.2 million posts/topics, which after 13 days of importing I decided to prune before attempting again.

In theory, you could rearrange these yourself by altering the wp-content>plugins>bbpress>includes>admin>converter.php file and changing the order of the steps. I actually thing the tags are the least important step for my site & the one that caused the most headache/issues while importing, so I made that step the LAST step.

I am trying to remove the ability to comment on top level forum topics.
For some reason the remove plugins and no comment options already set in do not seem to be working and I have tried css type removal options without success.

The way I set setup the forum is using top level board titles with sub-titles within each one and I only want users to be able to comment within sub-level boards not the top level title boards.

Can anyone please help with suggestions.

I have currently installed the closest plugin I have found to editing a page using css, scripts called “Post/Page specific custom CSS” but same as others nothing I place inside these seems to be working.

I have tried editing the page under FORUMS tab in admin but no styling options there.

I am trying to configure bbpress for one way announcements to an audience of members in my website. Meaning I as the author am posting topics in chronological order, with no possibility of replies. So not a normal forum.

This has meant removing a lot of extraneous information normally displayed: I don’t need or want author, freshness, voices, etc.

I am new to WordPress, BBpress, and I am not a coder. I have proceeded, through trial and error, to “inspect” the pages and use custom CSS to hide objects that I don’t want (display: none !important), and to look at the php files such as content-single-topic-lead.php and remove any references to author (e.g. bbp-topic-author).

Without understanding much of what I’m doing, I’m getting very close to achieving the intended effect. Now I’m stuck because when someone clicks in Resource Messages (the “forum” name) on an actual topic, they see an indented display of content, because the author column (which normally displays author name and avatar etc, which I hid using CSS display: none !important) is still present (if empty).

So my questions are:
1. Can anyone instruct me on how to remove that first author/avatar column?
2. How to resize column 2, or otherwise adapt it so each topic’s content displays as a left-justified text?

Please be very remedial in any tips you can give me. I have created a “bbpress” subfolder inside my “astra” child theme via “files” in my cpanel. I am deleting code in php files there adding custom css inside the astra child theme “customizer”.

If you are going to suggest changing files, could you please specify how I need to place them in my child theme to make this futureproof to updates etc.?

1. installed Simple Custom CSS plugin – all ok
2. insert the below code. and changed the font-size: 1.1em; to 1.6em

When I view topics on my S9+ the right side of the topic section is cut off.

Viewing on phones with smaller screens isn’t a problem. Just on a larger mobile screen.

It’s fine on Tablets too.

I have adjusted the screen res on my phone aswell.

I use theme Eduma.

I’m using BuddyPress and created a group with a private forum. The problem is that the group forum has no template. If I check the page, it has all classes. It looks like it can’t read the css bbpress file (it look like that Annex1). I created the forum using bbPress. My forum looks like that Annex 2 and the group forum should look exactly the same. How can I do this? I will be grateful for your help.

Hi ! I encounter since a few days a strange and very annoying issue :

When I am logged in as an admin to my bbpress forum, the editing toolbar does not appear :
NOT WORKING

But when I log in with a subscriber account, I see it correctly :
WORKING

I got the same issue with Twenty Fifteen theme from wordpress. So I thought it was a matter of plugin.

I deactivated all the plugins excepted bbpress & bbpress Toolkit and I still have the same issue.

So : The problem occurs on Chrome, Safari & Chrome for iOS

– it seems not to be an issue of theme,
– it seems not to be an issue of plugin compatibility,
– it’s not an issue of css either… (the editor elements just don’t appear in DOM)
– it seems not to be an issue of bbpress version (I tried to revert to version 2.5.13 and it still doesn’t work)

I am a little bit confused… Can you please help me ?

On the home of the forum, I have categories with sub forums in them, but need to change the layout to be 2 columns instead of comma separated forums. What file can I add to my theme to override this? bbPress has a crazy common between the <li> tags and drives me nuts because you can’t remove that using css.

I’m new to BBPress and I was looking at a few different sites for ideas. I run a PHPBB forum right now but I want to switch to BBPress (already have, it’s just not live yet)
I was curious how I can achieve this look? I’m guessing this isn’t CSS but some coding snippet, I want to be able to create a category and have the sub forums listed like this picture. If someone can point me in the right direction I can probably take it from there…

I’m facing hard time to simply add space between topic tabs using the bbp-topic-index shortcode.

I only found this post with a reply on this problem here : https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/space-between-posts/

However, the solution given seems either outdated either wrong because there is no such things as topic.php in my bbpress or theme directory.

I cannot find the template (.php) used to render the topics index table and I tried adding margin through CSS but none worked.

I see the topics list is designed as table using tr and td but don’t know how to customize it.

Any help would be appreciated,
