To the Mods and Admins:
Okay, so I just posted this topic under the ‘Themes’ category and it showed up as an ‘Array post’ or ‘Array voice’. When I logout I don’t see the topic there and when I log back on and try to reply to the topic it says it’s closed.
Am I not supposed to post in this forum? Did you mark me by mistake as a ‘bozo’ member? Is there a problem with the forums? Also, is there any way of contacting the mods/admins here by email?
Any help with this would be appreciated.
we actually did it manually, cutting and paste from wp-header to bb-header, it was rather intensive work, and you have to know css, it was a good thing my bro is a css pro. simply copy and paste did not make it work, he had to realign and figure out the original wp theme and past in the correct line in the bb theme. if you look at… http://gofastbargains.com/ and open another tab and open http://gofastbargains.com/Forum/ . you’ll see they do not match up perfectly. We’ll fix it eventually, but it was about 6 hours of work, installing, integrating, and theme matching.
I spent a whole day today reading the documentation/forums/blog posts on integrating bbpress with wordpress and didn’t achieved much yet. No deep integration, just the basic database/cookies sharing, but I’m stuck at finding a good tutorial/explanation on how to export my existing wordpress theme’s header and footer into bbpress. Any suggestions?
And I’m really disappointed that the themes that used to be neatly presented here are now gone.
@ gofastbargains: What is the bbpress theme you used for your project? Perhaps you can provide the link too.
Hello.
make the integration of bb-press, wordpress, successfully, but
I miss the last step is the activation of the plugin in bbPress integration “, I can not!.
Is it because I have the version bbpress 1.0.2? and the plugin works with the integration bbpress vercion 1.0 alpha 4.?
bbpress 1.02 “is before or after bbPress 1.0 alpha 4?.
When installing “bbpress integration”. Na window appears that asks for my password (the wp-config file. Php), put it, but I also wonder if I have FTP connection, I have not, and will not let me install the plugin.
What do I do?
actualiso my wordpress , with that version?, or is related to that I have no FTP connection?
help
Okay, so I’ve successfully integrated both WordPress and bbPress and combined the themes into one. I wanted to try this since no one else has. So, I used the bbPress Kakumei theme because styling from a WP theme was much to hard at this point given that the whole bbPress template would’ve needed to be redone. Anyways, the header was probably the easiest since I simply copied and pasted the code.
It’ll sone be up for grabs if I can get all the other template files together. I’m wondering, though, if I should give credit to Bryon Veloso since it was based off of his theme(?)
Here is my demo site (the site I designed it on): http://thevaultonline.megabyet.net
Comments/Critiques?
It looks like my “members” in bbpress can’t post. Users with other roles can.
Okay, I have this plugin found on this uri activated: http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bbpress-mobile/
I’m using bbPress 1.0.1
Not working.
I’ve added in the file bb-mobile.php the user-agent for iPhones Safari 4.0 mobile
also i added a user-agent switcher addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59) on my firefox, but even if the user-agent is recognized as safari 4.0 mobile — tracked by getclicky, the website is not being shown in a mobile friendly version.
Suggestions?
@Maurice i checked your plugin, I like the idea, but I didn’t see what was making the use of this plugin beneficial.
I do really wish bbPress will become a plugin soon, in that case, 1 billion WP plugins will be available to our use instantly.
Just installed it, here some feedback.
I’m using bbPress 1.0.1:
Some feedback:
– After voting on a post, it still shows the text to vote for that post (right next to the number of votes it has already
this should change into ‘who has voted already’ and if the person who voted on that post is reading, should NOT see it asking him to vote again on the same post, even if that isnt possible)
i love this plugin btw, vbulletin has this feature, and i always wanted something similar
I believe those my- folders are still needed. What makes you think they’re not?
1.0.2 was creating the folders with the wrong permissions, 0750, instead of 0755, but that bug was fixed I believe, just not packaged and released yet. https://trac.bbpress.org/ticket/1139
Yes, same here and same result – and I redid it over again with no satisfaction.
A couple of things to note.
When you create the bbpress sub-folder within the wordpress folder, one needs to make the bbpress (or forum, etc.) folder writable so that the install can write the bb-config.php file.
I also note that the install (v. 1.02) created the no-longer-used folders my-plugins and my-templates, which I believe is a remnant from older versions, with apache permissions – meaning that I’ll need to telnet in and remove these from the command-line – something that the average wordpress user would like to avoid.
In looking around at what’s going on with BBPress and WordPress integration; my comment is that I primarily deploy WordPress as a CMS solution so my vote is for integration as a short code plug-in for WordPress. I also see the need for BBPress as a stand alone application – perhaps a fork in the road is the best solution?
we actually followed that guideline word for word, lol. I guess we have to go back and redo it. thanks!
If you are not already logged in to the forum when you come from being logged in to WordPress, the integration is not complete. Try this:
https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/wp-integration-coockie-does-not-work#post-61969
It took me and my brother the majority of the day on saturday to figure it out…all I can say is Finally! I do have one question, when I am logged into my wordpress site, and I go to the forum, it remembers my user id but does not fill in the password. Is that how its suppose to work, or did we do something wrong? Here it is..www.gofastbargains.com
-please give me feedback on the site, thanks!
Hi, Just downloaded and installed wordpress and bbpress with the intention of integrating them. Having gone through the three steps I got a minor error – it couldn’t create the first forum – but completed the installation. When I put in the URL address of bbpress it simply told me that ‘bbPress is already installed’. i noticed it defaults to ‘http://tokrates.net/bbpress/bb-admin/install.php’
Any ideas?
Chris
Sounds like I need to use bbPress with Akismet and reCaptcha @mentalicgr. Do you feel you lose posts with the use of reCaptcha though?
Hi there,
This is someting bandied about every now and then. There are a few issues stopping this from happeneing
- A new version of BBpress is coming out soon
- Given BBpress’s track record, it might/will/possibly break all/most plugins
- Who should determine which are the most used plugins
- How do we know which ones work and don’t work
_ck_ gave up a huge amount of time for BBpress, and in the end, did not get the same value back out of BBpress/Automattic/Community. Its hard, as a developer, to see what happened with _ck_ and want to go down that path until things are sorted out.
I wouldn’t waste any time developing plug ins for a platform that I know is going to change in the near future, possibly breaking my plug-ins again

Chris Hajer is one of, if not the, moderator around here, and a well respected cool calm person. Even Chris, who obviously shares our love for what BBpress could become, feels that plugin development right now would be a waste of time.
If you have a specific bug with a plugin, come back and post it here. It might be a quick fix. But if you’re looking for “the coders here” to rewrite a bunch of plugins off our own backs, well, it ain’t too likely i’m afraid.
Take care.
I just upgraded to the latest stable version of bbpress.
Just before doing so, I would receive an email notification whenever any new topics or posts were created, so I could easily go through each one and reply. They always came from “unknown sender” which was a little strange, but they still served their purpose.
Since upgrading, I’m no longer getting these email notifications at all, and I don’t remember what I did exactly to get them in the first place. I can’t find a setting for this anywhere, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t install any plugins, because there isn’t any additional plugins in the “my-plugins” folder of my backup that I made of bbpress before upgrading.
Has anyone else experienced this and/or know how I can start receiving email notifications of all new topics and posts again?
Thanks in advance,
Brandon
Hi trying out bbPress 1.0.2 and stumbeled on a litte “problem”.
When setting a user to blocked and that user tries to login he/she is presented whit a “you are blocked” notice, and presented with a “back to forum main page” link.
The problem is that the back to forum main page link doeasn’t take to user back to the forum main page. He/she is only presented whit the same notice again..
Tried to use bb-login.php?logout=1 to see if user gets back in then, but it doesnt help.
The user has to either close his/hers browser or manually delete the cookie in browser.
Looked at the bug track system, but no mention of this there.
This is not a major problem since user has most likely been blocked for a reason, but what if an error has been done, and user wants to go back to main forum page and contact admin?
I’d advise against that mate.
Tagging isn’t that useful or accurate, its really just a glorified search field.; not to mention its something that the end users don’t really use that often.
If you really want to do it, then its a case of running through X posts a time searching for your own predefined keywords/tags and iff they match then adding the tag to the database. That would be outwith BBpress though, just running an PHP page with SQl on it.
I wouldn’t suggest it though. I recently did it with a football website and found it to be 1) a pain 2) less accurate than i thought and 3) pretty useless.
We just imported nearly 20,000 posts from a phpBB forum to bbPress. The version of phpBB did not support tagging, so none of the posts/replies is tagged.
Is there a script or other plugin to search these posts/replies and assign a set of tags to them?
And here a mock up of the feature-site http://goo.gl/NQXE
Dear buddies,
