    Hi Uhclem,

You’re not wrong mate, and there is an easier way to go. But it requires more investment than bbPress has had or is going to have anytime soon. If you can get bbPress to work for you they way you are happy with it, then that’s great, because its a lovely piece of software – but if not, then there are alternatives out there that will do what you want.

    Take Care,

    Kev

    john13uk,

What Terms and Conditions is this “person” breaking?

The GPL does not mean free, you can easily and leagally sell code that is compatible with a GPL licence. If you don’t like this, just ignore it, no-one is forcing you buy it. As annoyed as you may be, the person you contacted (he didn’t contact you) at no time said he would pass it on for free.

As much as SoftInfo is being a bit of a wanker, and he is, it’s not worth the hassle.

If you have the ability to do the “customisation and other stuff”, making this basic (and pretty awful looking theme) shouldn’t really be an issue. You have the theme folder and pages already.

    SoftInfo:

At no point does ChrisHajer suggest he’s accepting money for theme’s someone else created. Please be careful when making accusations against others, especially well respected people.

selling [GPL themes] are the are against wordpress policy?

Yes. Premium themes, such as the ones you link to, sell services that come with the themes (usually minimum support contracts). We’ve been over this road countless times.

If you don’t sorry to me then I’ll leave bbpress

    Oh no!!

Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out :)

John Hiler, I have activated it now, to prevent further annoyances. There is a test thread, and you´re welcome to create a new test thread to see how it is.

@ john13uk .. Dear I’m not breaking the rules… I’m asking if you are interest then I can make it for you as its clone.. and If its against the bbpress rules ..then why you are asking about this bborg theme.. why you do not make your own theme?

why you want to use bborg theme while its bbpress.org property? why ? Premium themes and services is not a big deal or new thing in market.. even you can buy wordpress premium theme and its services from various resources over the internet… are they people breaking the rules?.. are the are against wordpress policy?..

Open your eyes and see the links

    http://www.google.com.pk/search?rlz=1C1GGLS_enPK351PK351&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=wordpress+services

    http://www.google.com.pk/search?hl=en&rlz=1C1GGLS_enPK351PK351&q=bbpress+services&btnG=Search&meta=&aq=&oq=

even chrishajer who is the moderator of bbpress.. also selling his services off list..for confirmation you can visit this link

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/will-pay-to-get-our-forum-fixed

and i can also tell me many more people who are selling his services off list .. who are the member of bbpress.org/forums

Note: The _ck_ have left the bbpress after depression who creates people like you.. who wants everything free free free free huh…and who don’t want to promote coders duh..

I think its enough .. or I should write more?

so be polite and be extra careful to write any bad comment against any programmer… If you don’t sorry to me then I’ll leave bbpress

    I think you’ll understand .. and you’ll say sorry to me :)

    Thanks alot

    Hi jansummers,

You’re bbPress install has content being sent to the browser before all the processing is finished.

9/10 this comes from a ‘new line’ at the end of a user created php file (theme or plugin).

The fact you’re getting this error via the Plugin API strongly suggests such an issue is with a plugin. Have you edited one? have you got a new one installed recently?

Without more info, the only suggestion we have can give is this:

    1) Change back to the default theme and see if it the bug still occurs.

    2) Start deactivating plugins one at a time and see if it still occurs.

    3) If you’re using the default theme and all plugins are deactivated, try re-uploading bbpress. Its unlikely that’ll make any difference, but its covering your bases :)

its now active on my forum for the next four hours

With all due respect, you’re asking for our help to fix a bug only you are having but you won’t let us see. I asked you for a link to see the issue to help you and it took you 7 hours to respond (even though you replied to 3 other threads in the next hour), and when you did reply you gave a 4 hour window of when we could give up our free time to fix your bug.

Can you give us a link to your test site please?

@af3, I just installed on a website wordpress mu 2.9.2 and buddypress 1.2 with bbpress. Unfortunately there are some problems with the bp-fbconnect plugin. For example I can login with FB-Connect but I cannot log out.

I also tried wordpress with buddypress, bb-press and the FB-Connect plugin – that worked. Strange…

    Further problem:

buddypress-bbpress forums are group based. With a bbpress standalone you can have category-based topics…I prefer category based topics. It is easier to keep the overview.

You gotta see for yourself during the creation of a topic. There will be no save button.

Uhclem, how much HTML do you know?

I ask not to be rude, but to check the level of support needed. It looks like your website was set up with Microsoft Frontpage and with no hand coding done. Sadly, hand coding is needed for changing things in bbPress, and no amount of help from us can talk you through it if you don’t have the basics.

    Hi Quicktipz,

I’d strongly suggest asking htis over at the buddyPress forums as they’ll have more chance of knowing the answer. Don’t delete the plugin yet (not as a first step anyway). Log into WordPress and de-activate it first.

If you’re trying to install bbPress or BuddyPress with your wordpress install?

( in know it gets confusing)

Looks like that’s a WordPress plugin for BuddyPress? Not much to do with bbPress unless I’m missing something in that message. I would ask at the BuddyPress forums or for support from that plugin author.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_add_nav_item() in /home/content/14/4457114/html/wp-content/plugins/group-forum-subscription-for-buddypress/bp-group-forum-subscription.php on line 500

I can’t even get into the admin and if i go to the site http://www.quiktipz.com it give me the same message…how do I fix this?

I have no technical understanding, and still I managed to install BBpress already. Im not agreeing with your argument that BBpress requires PHP-skills.

It has worked great for almost a year now, and it is a forum software that has gotten quite far already. It just need polishing and simplifying.

I dont think a plugin works unless it functions 100% out of the box. You shouldnt have to go into the code at all. Thats not userfriendly. So here is me, an end user wanting something to be ideal, and you admit it to not being ideal.

Im saying that if its not that ideal, then its not working.

    Marius,

If something works, even if you have to do some of the work yourself, then it works.

If it doesn’t work – report the bug and we’ll try and help.

But saying things don’t work because it’s not ideal or as easy as you’d like isn’t helping us to help you :) and you’re passionate about bbPress, we want to help you :)

Polls: The plugin made by CK for an outdated version of BBpress, does not work with the current version.

Chatbox: Not a shoutbox, a chatbox thats designed in such a way that its easy for several people to communicate with each other. Not just post a shoutmessage.

Custom avatar: None of the avatar scripts works with 1.02, unless you go in to the the code, change it, change properties on the server etc.

Auto forum moderation: Has no admin panel, no instructions, does not work properly with 1.02.

I have tried all these plugins you mention we have, and believe me, if they was working properly, I would have had them on my forum. But I dont.

Askimet is optimized for WordPress blogs.

I disabled Askimet, and instead I use a variety of other plugins to control spam. Human Test for bbPress, Project Honeypot, New User Notification… they all do the job better than anything else at the moment.
