yes it is feasible but will require technical know-how to achieve it

If you guys have integrated setup, then if you login from WordPress side and then try to access bbPress dashboard you are redirected back to the frontpage. Just login from bbPress side and you will be able to pass through :)

    1. WPMU 2.9.2

bbPress doesn’t play well with WPMU. I’m afraid you’ll pretty much have to use BuddyPress.

That said, there should be a plugin somewhere that allows you to specify people to skip akismet. I actually think it’s called “skip akismet”, but really you’re looking at a short term fix.

    Sorry

Also, i finally upgraded FireBug after notcing how much smaller the text has become again and according to that this is what I’m looking at:

    font-family ‘Lucida Grande’,’Bitstream Vera Sans’,Arial,sans-serif

    font-size 8.4px

    font-style italic

I don’t know what’s changed (i’ve been away at a wedding since Wednesday night), but “Member” or the role is so incredibly small its unreal. Given that Browsers struggle with decimal points of fonts, we’re looking at 8px text.

The fact that it’s italic is huge amounts of fun to read too.

As I pointed out earlier, ‘Lucida Grande’ is a MAC font and ‘Bitstream Vera Sans’ is a Linux font. I wonder if we could check the pages on systems without these fonts because 8px text is honestly a nightmare to read (especially as it’s italic).

    http://www.kevinjohngallagher.com/member_text.png

    Edit: Found the change:

The 960 layout framework, for some reason, has decided to control the text as well (brilliantly outwith its remit imo). It sets the text size as 12px, and then we set it to 70% on line 76 of “https://bbpress.org/forum-theme/bborg/style.css”.

    Michael and Noel,

Dudes, we are all so greatly apprecaitive of the time and effort you’re throwing into this. And we do apprecaite that not everythings a simple bug to fix, and of course there will be some legacy stuff/hacks to deal with… But I hope you don’t take offence when we point out things like the homepage not working for days on end (why not roll back??) or:

These pages haven’t been styled yet – register, login, profile edit, views, favorites, post-edit, search

I mean, we all accept bugs, heck we’re happy to find them so we can contribute to fixing them. But to release a theme without even bothering to style 8 (minimum) out of the 27 theme files is really starting to make us all look a bit amateur. (Thats 30% btw)

These 2 links are broken (which are in forum’s footer):

    https://bbpress.org/about/privacy/

    https://bbpress.org/about/gpl/

I wonder, with all due respect, how cool this sort of thing would be over at WordPress.org?

Please let us know if we can help, we want to help!!

I’m having the exact same issue. Cache/cookies have been cleared, tried multiple browsers, etc. I have integrated WP with bbPress and all the user roles appear to be set up correctly (though I can’t imagine what else the problem could be…). Users are shared between WP and bbPress correctly, etc. but when I try to go to /bb-admin I’m simply redirected back to forums main, same as jbrzr3.

Out of ideas. WP + bbPress is an ideal solution for the site I’m working on but this is a pretty major roadblock.

My patch would take some time (also it would edit some core files and only if the patch goes into the core, then only your theme would be functional if you apply the patch) – so you need not wait for that.

    Hello Community

I have a small problem after intalling wordpress 2.9.2 and bbpress 1.0.2.

I’ve installed the bb-integration plugin on my wordpress and configured the necessary things. I had also check the keys and salt’s in bb-config and wp-config twice and checkt out the support forum here but couldnt find any solution.

The Problem: I can register on wp without any problem and login with this user into the bbpress forum. BUT if i make a login on WP the BB doesnt know something about that. I know that this has to bee a small cookie-problem but i cant find the “bug” :). Does anyone has a hint please?

    Hey,

I was deleting and blocking some spam users when I tried to go back to the dashboard of bbpress, the link would redirect me to the home page of the forums. I tried typing the link in the browser and the same thing happened. So, as of now, I can not get back into the dashboard.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was going on and how can I fix it?

    Thank you in advance.

You can use something like “admin can post anything” then admins can … post anything (including Flash embed code.)

Or, if you have it hosted at one of the video sites, you can use one of the video plugins.

    @ Hard Seat Sleeper

did you get any further with the Sandbox theme for bbpress? Could be really useful :)

it would be amazing to have an equivalent of the P2 theme (that I see you’re running on your blog) for bbpress too. Very clean design, easy to mod, lightweight etc

    Xarzu,

I am a total newbie with bbpress and want to integrate to my wp 2.9.2 self-hosted site.

Can you publish a short description of exactly what you did to make yours work properly, either here or you can register on our site and I’ll contact you directly?

    Thank you SO much!

In https://bbpress.org/plugins/forum/requests put “Plugin Description (required)” over the corresponding textarea (need just a <br /> as for “Plugin Name (required)”).

Put some space between the “Submit Comment ” button and “Allowed Tags” <p> in plugins/topic/*

This is strange. The star gif used for rating in plugin section does have a tiny gold border when displayed with gold background. (Firefox/3.6, no problem with Safari 4.0.5) I can take a screenshot.

bbPress isn’t a WordPress plugin. It’s a standalone software. Go to bbpress/ and you will access your brand new installation.

I have been using wordpress 2.9.2 successfully. however when I installed bbpress in a sub directory under my wordpress install, it takes me through the install successfully and says everything is complete. It does not show up under settings in my WP admin area. And when i type in the address that i used for my bbpress install it takes me to a page that says

    Oh dear!

    bbPress is already installed.

Perhaps you meant to run the upgrade script instead?

everything i do takes me back to bbpress/bb-admin/install.php

To repeat unfixed issues from my previous post here:

    • in login form in header, username and password are not deleted when you click on it, so you need to manually delete them (this is when you are logged put, of course)
    • better aligning on post form on plugin’s pages
    • more margin between columns on user’s favorites page
    • no subscribe to topic link (I’m now wondering could be this solved by using action topicmeta instead of hardcoding in theme since this won’t work in any theme by default)

    Ideas:

    • gravatars could be added to posts on plugin’s page too
    • RSS icons on links to RSS feeds

    Some more things to do:

    1. These pages haven’t been styled yet – register, login, profile edit, views, favorites, post-edit, search. (Also the views of plugin section).
    2. Add the crumb style in plugin section too.
    3. Style the 404 page a bit and offer some options to go back, or search.
    4. Reduce the size of search textbox so that search button could reside in the same line.
    5. Add a subscribe to topic link in the topic sidebar.
    6. When you’re logged in as a member, you see something like “Welcome, Gautam | | Log Out”. One of “|” should be removed. (It might be happening because of the admin section link for admins.)
    7. Style the download buttons on download page, they are hardly getting highlighted.
    8. Add a link to lost password page.
    9. Enable gravatars on plugins section (I think it is running bbPress 1.0).
    10. Prevent the comment from going to left in plugins section (like this – https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/zaerl-editor/#post-5730 )
    11. Some more tasks, which are big ones:

    1. Add a themes repo.
    2. Style the blog.
    3. Add the tags back in plugin section.
    4. Add stats in plugins section, Nightgunner5 had written a userscript for that – http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/63060

It has been fixed in the latest development version of bbPress, but the packaged version 1.0.2 still creates the folders with the wrong permissions. Sorry about that.

You should have an option to mark posts as “not spam” in the bbPress admin

    http://example.com/forums/bb-admin/posts.php?post_text=&forum_id=0&tag=&post_author=&post_status=2&poster_ip=

Go to the admin > posts > then there is a select box where you pull down and select “spam”, then click [filter] and you should have a list of all posts caught by Akismet where you can mark legitimate posts as “no spam”. Do you not have that?
