It looks very good! I’ve read about a bit and it seems to be working. I haven’t had much practice with reading German, but I can understand it pretty well.
The stand-alone version will indeed not get further updates, although it has been said (somewhere) that security updates will still be released (when necessary).
The plugin is the way the project will continue. I think because it will all be reliant on WP.org’s core.

It has been announced that full integration of the plugin version should happen in the next release of BP.
As BP is currently still in 1.5 beta-2, we can’t yet peek at the development versions of the next one. But I’m curious as to how much of the BP-core will change to enable the plugin version of bbP to work properly.

It’s the “good old” pretty permalinks error, which we had earlier in the alpha/beta stage.
If you go to Settings > Permalinks on your Dashboard, just save your settings and it should clear up.

Just installed bbpress plugin on wordpress mu site, with the url being
http://pianowizardacademy.com/play/forum/
(haven’t made any tweaks to the theme yet)
However, going to that page brings up the apologies page not found. To get to the actual board, have to go to
http://pianowizardacademy.com/play/forum/board/
Problem is, the HOME page link leads to the first page which is not what I want, since the forums aren’t listed there and the page not found error.
I guess I can resolve this with 301 redirect, but I’m wondering why can’t I access the forums on “HOME” page in the menu?

Love the shortcodes! Job well done on this plugin version. I can now use a shortcode on a custom page and display this as the root of my site in WP while keeping WP for additional pages/posts!

Well I’m not sure what happened.. I reinstalled from the branch. I was still getting 404 errors at this point. ( I didn’t clear the cache so maybe that was it)
Then I deactivaed all plugins except for Askimet. Then I tried it and it worked. I assumed I had found a bad working relationship with one of my other plugins…
I re-activated one plugin at a time and the refreshed the dashboard page then I went out to my forum page. http://jeff-foliage.com/fall-foliage-forum/
and it still worked after reactivating each and every plugin following the above procedure of
re-activate
refresh
refresh forum page
click to see if it’s working
repeated as necessary but now I can’t duplicate and all my plugins are re-activated and I feel stupid…
I noticed this happened to one other user who turned in a trouble report…
Am I mostly the only one to have trouble??? Murphy’s Law?? I hope this helps someone…

I managed to customize my registration form using the following thread…

However, all the info submitted via registration is posted on the user’s profile page (which is PUBLIC!). I would like some of these fields to be hidden from the public (and only viewable by the administrators, via the admin section).
So, if a user posts their phone number during registration, I DO NOT want the phone number posted online for everyone to see. I want it invisible to the public, and only viewable by my admins.
Can anyone help me do this???

and this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function bbp_get_topic_tag_template() in /home/aleche23/alexchen.info/taiwantalk/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-core-compatibility.php on line 745 when I upload it on a server.
I tried a fresh bbp 2.0 rc3 installation and got the same error.
Is this a known issue?

I think i get it. BBPress 2 is a BBPress Plugin for WordPress. BBPress 1.03 is a standalone BBPress.
Your Skeleton theme is for WordPress/BBPress 2 and not for standalone BBPress 1.03
I just updated the bbPress forum to Version 2.0-rc-3 (I’m using the bbPress plugin for WordPress). Before the update to the new version my forum (a private forum) could be found at
http://www.buddhistinsightnetwork.org/forums/forum/bin-discussion-forum/
now, when i go there it says there is nothing there (I confirmed the link is the forum link within WordPress). Before the new version, this was the exact link for the forum.
Does anybody know what is going on here?

I’ve just updated to the latest version of the plugin and I’m not getting the error I mentioned before.
Nonetheless, when I update my user profile (from the forum profile), everything seems to be working well except for when I update de Yahoo! and Gtalk info which in both cases are not being saved or updated.
I can’t wait until it integrates with BuddyPress. That will be the ultimate group of plugins. Does anyone have a timeline on when this is expected?

How do you make a "Private" forum visible to some WordPress classes?

I had the same problem as Jim. It’s not working on my index page for one of my sites. I wonder what the workaround because it seems to work on other pages.
If I need to disallow in the robots.txt forum with its topic and its replies (Private Forum) I need to write an item into robots for each topic and each reply? Thanks for any suggestions.

I’ve found this page very useful and it helped me create the main forum page as I wanted it to be.

However, once I go into the forum pages, or topics, everything gets lost, for example, I used a specific page template for the forum page I created with the short code, but once I go into the topics or so, it reverts back to the regular page template.
Is there a way to force all forum pages to appear in my specified page template so it would keep all my customizations?
