I hadn’t seen that plugin before – looks useful.

Pippin is a very experienced plugin writer (better than me!), and I just loaded and tested that plugin and it works error free and fine.

A quick look at the code shows no obvious issues with current versions of wordpress or bbpress.

It is always a problem for plugin writers to maintain their plugins – I have over 6, and whenever wordpress updates, I have 6 to test and update.

I don’t really want to take on anymore, else I’d offer to take that one over.

I’d suggest you use it – worst case at some future stage you may have to stop using it, but as I know of no other plugin that does this, you’ll be no worse off than you are now.

If it does stop working come back, and I’ll look to see how easy it is to fix, but offhand I see no reason why it will become out of date unless wordpress does some very major changes.

Hello forum people, this time I need some information about where I can get an Android and IOS app for my forum.

There are also services like apppresser that are paid monthly but I would leave it as the last option.

There is an app like https://appboss.com/ but I have tried to communicate with them more than once but I have not succeeded.

I have seen that Ionic is having integration with wordpress in the last time and that there are many items but 100% are for wordpress post that works with api reset so they are not compatible with Bbpress.

Hi,

I’d like to remove the header from all bbPress pages on my site, but can’t quite figure it out!

I’m using the theme Total, and advice from the theme creator was to put .ht-main-header{display:none;} in Appearance > Customise > Additional CSS. This worked, but removed the header from all pages across the website and forum. I’d like to keep the header on all main website pages and only remove it from bbPress pages.

I can remove the header from an individual page by adding .postid-994 .ht-main-header{display:none;} but this is only for a specific page. How can I do this for all forum pages?

I’m relatively new to using wordpress/bbpress (and don’t really understand CSS tbh!) so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can go to the wordpress dashboard and from there you go to Appearance>Widgets then in widget there will be a option of sidebar.Then click on the sidebar,it will show you about the widget that is included in that sidebar,just remove that widget then your sidebar will be deleted from your website.

I am using the bbPress import tool to try and move my old Joomla Kunena forum to bbPress on our new WordPress site, but on the conversion box it just says there are no users, topics, forums, etc. Any ideas?

This is a 5 year old plugin, which I have never come across before, and only 2000 out of 19.5 million wordpress websites use this plugin.

Can you explain why you installed it in the first place, as that may help undetstand how to get around needing it.

If you are just using bbpress (and not buddypress) then install

bbp style pack

and go to

dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>profile and you’ll see options to block this

The info below was submitted to Elementor tech support. They are stumped after several days and iterations and asked me to inquire here if someone had seen something similar and might give us a clue as to what is happening.

Using bbpress, I have subforums, as defined by the parent child relationship. Now it seems that bbpress is refusing to assign ANY parents to any forum. If I take a child forum (any forum) and try to assign it to a new parent, when I update it it ends up with no parent. Every single time.

Oddly (LOL), I do have two older test sites where it is working okay. I am stumped about what is different.

I did about an hour of trying to track this down. My final step was to disable every plugin except for buddypress and bbpress. That caused it to start working properly again. I next added Elementor 2.0.4 and that immediately recreated the problem

I downgraded back to Elementor 1.9.8 and the problem persists. I also tried 1.9.6

I have a site where the parent function is working properly. It is running all the same versions of plugins listed above. The theme in both cases is identical (Astra 1.2.5). The plugins shown are the ONLY plugins activated on the broken site.

Hi, I’m trying to illustrate to my community organisation the possibilities of forums in general, and specifically bbPress.

But the examples at https://bbpress.org/about/examples/ are mostly quite old, many broken, or much larger forums such as wordpress.org which doesn’t lend itself to being shown as an example of what we can do as a little organisation with such awesome software.

I could help by letting you know which of those links on that page are broken? But does anyone want to help with links to any current, modern responsive designed community forums so I can convince my little org to get on board?

Also this ‘Showcase’ forum seems like its a general support forum? which isn’t a great advertisement for great forum, TBH, but I did find a couple of examples of forums which are nice on the 1st page, so thanks for those

Is it possible to use WP Forms as the user registration and login for bbpress? I know they both use the same wordpress database to store user info so assume it should be ok?
Would love some help as I have been trying to create the perfect forum for so long!!!

so it is wordpress not bbpress

It could be a theme or plugin issue

Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

Themes

If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

I have no idea what is happening. I assign a forum role in the user account but when the user visits the forum, the role is just deleted and replaced with -No role for these forums-. Auto role is not checked in settings. Why aren’t they “sticking?” Any help or insights would be really appreciated. Thanks.

bbpress uses wordpress registration, so this is probably not a bbpress issue.

As a final check, go into http://www.mysite.com/wp-login.php and test that registration also fails there

Then I suggest you contact your host provider to help – as it is possibly a site configuarion/email issue.

bbpress just uses wordpress registration, so start with

1. You should be aware that many spam filters strip messages that do not come from the correct address. So if your site is mysite.com and your email address in wordpress settings>general is fred@gmail.com then it is likely that messages will be dumped in transit. You need to set up email to come from your site eg fred@mysite.com, your hosting provider can help if needed.
2. Then you need to see if this is wordpress wide
