    I got it!

One more question – We can login through WordPress.org accounts too. I once checked that I can and was wondering its implementation and the thing that if I am logged into the same account or there are two accounts for myself?

ashfame’s guide is pretty clear on the steps. For me, the key was going to http://YOURSITE/wp-admin/options, grabbing the AUTH keys there, then pasting them in the correlating section of the bbPress config.php file in the install. Once they both had the exact same cookie codes in their config files, it worked like a charm.

I have the same problem… any solutions?

@Ashfame – You keep insisting that no plugin is needed – however, I could not make the integration work until I installed the plugin –

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-integration/

I have WP installed in a subdirectory, and BBPress installed in a sub-domain. The plugin helped me to discover how to a) make the cookies register in the same root domain, and b) define the cookie hash that was missing.

In short, although it may not be needed – it is useful. In my humble opinion.

Thanks for the advice about firebug – I solved it.

I read it and I already replied to it. That didn’t solve it. I did try it last night and it didn’t change anything.

I’m going to try out firebug now.

    @maramac

Did you read my reply over bbshowase? Thats the way it can be solved. To help you in your aim, install Firebug on Firefox. Run it using F12 and then you can catch the DIV you want.

    Hope that helps ;)

    Good day,

I am working on a review site built using WordPress/bbPress and am in need of a ratings module. I’ve looked all over but as it turns out what I really want is something that bbpress uses when you go to a plugins page. An example of such a page is below (picked at random):

    http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/best-answer/

On the right sidebar there is brief information along with an average rating and the ability to allow the user to vote (and adjust it in the future). What’s more is that users are able to post their reviews within the same page which is perfect for what I need.

I’m using bbPress in conjuction with WordPress for my site, and since the logins database is used between them a plugin solution can be for either bbPress or WordPress.

Is such a plugin available, and if so where may I find it?

    Thanks for your help.

Chrishajer, from what I can see from the validation, all the problems listed on there are to do with either the footer, the members online, the attachments, etc… – all things that happen further down on the page or aren’t on the actual front page.

I’m thinking I’ve got my CSS wrong somewhere. I just cannot figure out where, since, as I already mentioned, my CSS is a bit shaky. I get by, but to find the reasons for errors like this – I just can’t manage with that.

I’m using firefox and notepad++. I’ve got the web developer toolbar installed, but so far I’ve yet to figure out all I can do with it.

@ashfame – Have you studied WordPress plugins at all? The approach is pretty similar, and there’s a nice codex over there too:

    @maramac

I posted another reply there. Check that out too.

@maramac, I would start by trying to validate your XHTML:

    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nyahalcyon.net%2Fforum%2F

There are a few issues there that will not do this to your site (missing alt tags, couple of invalid tags), but it does look like there is a missing div or missed closing div. That might help you.

Also, what sort of tools are you using to help you with this. I find an editor with syntax highlighting (like notepad++ if you’re on Windows) helps a lot, and Firefox with the Web Developer Toolbar also helps a lot to visual things. If you post your platform and your tools, people will be able to post some suggestions. The tools you use can make your job a lot easier.

@swaymedia: Any comment on _ck_: “there have only been 4 donations this year despite thousands of users of my plugins”

Maybe you’re one of the four? Reminds me of this discussion:

I hope this is the right place to ask but I don’t know where else to go about it.

I’ve recently added bbpress to my site, and I’ve been trying to carry over the theme I use for WordPress. I’m not all that great with CSS, and there’s some weird problem with the positioning of the forum. I’m not quite sure I got all the div tags, as I’m still not 100% sure of the internal structure.

    Here’s the forum link: http://www.nyahalcyon.net/forum

And here’s the website, as a reference: http://www.nyahalcyon.net

As you can see: the whole of the forum should be in the center, aligned with the background, and right now it’s very much on the left side no matter what I try. I’m obviously missing something somewhere, or I didn’t get the CSS right…

I’d really appreciate any hints or advice about this.

(I’m going to have to sort out the other pages, like the topic, forums, etc…. but for now I’d just like to get the front page working 100%.)

I suspect the akismet plugin will eventually have a permanently delete feature like it does for WordPress.

If you have that much spam on your forums you have a bigger problem in that so many spammers are able to register so easily.

I can probably put a real delete button into Mass Edit

Nope! I have installed bbPress into a sub-directory. I will look forward to install it in a sub-domain also.

I was able to resolve the problem and get it working thanks to my sloppiness.

The problem was created when I generated the four keys. I simply copied and pasted them to the wp-config file and the bb-config file. However, the defined keys are different in each file. For the wp-config file the auth key is defined as AUTH_KEY. Whereas, in the bb-config file it is defined as BB_AUTH_KEY. Once I put the BB_ prefix in for the four keys in the bb-config file it worked.

I do have the two programs working without the bbpress plugin.

I still have it setup as separate databases. The users are shared by defining it in the bbPress WordPress integration page by checking the “Show advanced database settings” and input your database information.

    Thanks for your help.
