No idea what ‘watpocom’ is, but I assume it’s something to do with my hosting provider.

I did find out the slow executing scripts might be a plugin that tries to pull in a feeds or aggregators? They apparently take up a lot of CPU.

I have WordPress installed on the server as well and both installs have quite a few plugins between the two of them. Does anyone know if there’s a little tool where you can see how long / which script holds up the process?

A bit like http://tools.pingdom.com, but for PHP scripts?

This doesn’t seem to be working for me, all users seem to be assigned a default profile from my wordpress sync plugin. They are assessed as anonymous for some reason and given a specific profile from that plugin.

Sign out. Then log in from your forum instead of logging in from wordpress.

You might want to check my other thread about this. (I had the same problem)

Hello everyone. I am working on integrating a forum with my WordPress blog, and everything was going fine. Until I finished the install, and started working on the integration settings in the admin panel. In the section where it asks you to input the WordPress database prefix (I think it was to get the proper user tables), I put wp_ which is the prefix for my WordPress blog. Now, it doesn’t matter which account I log in with, I still cannot find the Admin link in the header. I’ve logged in both with my WordPress blog admin account, and my bbPress account. I’ve checked in the mySQL database, and my bbPress account still has the permission to access the admin panel, but I cannot see a link. It simply shows “Welcome, Legacyblade | Log Out”

Normally in these situations, I’d just uninstall and reinstall, but I’m not sure what Word Press tables were modified, and don’t want to mess up my blog. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All comments should run through Akismet, as long as it’s active… it’s probably similar to how WordPress filters spam, which is to say it’s pretty good but not perfect.

So both Alekseo and Kawauso can both log in on the bbPress side and it’s fine, the problem exists only when logged in at WordPress?

Don’t put it in the same folder. It doesn’t work well. The subdomain solution is fine.

I just realized another easy solution (not that pimpin tho, sadly) when viewing the thread where people show off their forums. To install the forum on a subdomain. then it would look like http://forums.hi.com/forum/off-topic.

Is it possible to install bbPress in the same folder as WordPress or have anyone tried? I have seen alot of people trying to remove the extra /forum url that appears in bbPress. This really seems like the obvious solution and like it’s what it’s coded for initially. I only fear that it’s too easy and straight forward that it won’t work =)

I recently installed bbpress by extending buddypress 1.1 with wordpress mu 2.8.4. While everything is ok on the buddypress end, the forum does not have a “Add New Topic” link displayed…. I tried adding topics and posts through the database too, but same result! :( You can find the link to the forum here – http://smartlearnwebtv.com/iitjee/forums. I’d appreciate any help from you guys.

Note: The forum under the “Groups” category seems to work fine – not sure if this has got anything to do with the problem am facing.

Thanks for the replies. I intend to share WordPress user accounts so I’ll go with the same database.

Thanks again.

It will integrate users with WordPress, if you want that.

It’s easiest to just use the WordPress database – just be sure the table prefix is different for WordPress and bbPress. WordPress uses wp_ by default and bbPress uses bb_ by default. Just be sure they are different, or bbPress will mess up your WordPress installation. Like this:

Hi, iltdevunit

That really depends what you are going to do with you wordpress and bbPress installations.

Using one table (but differenct prefixes) will allow you to make better use of MySQL features as integration will be seamless.

As for bbPress – it could completely integrate into WordPress and could be standalone: so really it depends on you!

Hi,

I’m about to install bbPress.

For the database information in installation step 1, do I put in the WordPress db settings or am I supposed to create a new database and put its details i?

I’m not sure if bbPress integrates into WordPress or if it is a completely stone-alone bb that just happens to be by the same people that brought us WordPress.

Cheers

ok so i uploaded fine, set-up fine, did the integration but did NOT set User Roles (BAD IDEA). Now the admin page has been removed because of the install, even un-installed the wordpress plugin. So I can’t fix it, tried to delete the forum folder and re-upload but the install is still there and still works just like it did, broke.

I can’t figure out how to correct the issue or even better a complete uninstall so I can follow the great tutorial here: http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/basic-integration-screencast

I’m guessing it has something to do with the sql tables but I’m lost at this point. pickledpc.com

what is the best way to correct the issue? and how can I ensure a complete reset so that i can do a fresh install?

Hi there,

my turn, I suppose!

Well, the ioni2 theme is deeply integrated with WordPress (it relies on WP to build menu and parts of footer, for instance), but in any other aspect it is purely bbPress:

forum.sunshine.by

Uses:

• Akismet
• Allow Images (allthough truth to tell it is not working as well as it is supposed to.. but alas!)
• bbPress Sitemap Generator
• bbPress Web Compression (A must have!)
• Related Topics
• Simple Online List
• Topic Icons (almost useless with my theme)

There are not much people of the forum so you may freely check it out and try post anything to see how it is working! The theme is translated into Russian (although written in English), and shall you desire to get it – just let me know :) The same goes for the translation.

The major point here is that the theme is HTML5 (I keep developing it, just keep that in mind) – and it looks exacly the same in IE, FF, Chrome, Opera and Safari

Wanna check it outforum.sunshine.by?

If you click on Admin, it redirects back to the bbPress core directory if you’ve logged in on the WordPress side, but works fine if you log in on the bbPress side. Clearing browser cookies has no effect.

Hopefully you have a database backup since that will be the easiest way to fix this. If you used the same database prefix for WordPress and your bbPress installation, bbPress tried to install into some existing WordPress tables.

Here is a list of the tables created by both packages:

bbPress tables:

forums
meta
posts
terms
term_relationships
term_taxonomy
topics
users
usermeta

WordPress tables:
terms
term_taxonomy
term_relationships
comments
links
options
postmeta
posts
users
usermeta

From that list, it looks like the following tables have the same names in bbPress and WordPress:

posts
terms
term_relationships
term_taxonomy
users
usermeta

So, if you used the same prefix, I think bbPress would just happily write into those tables. I’ve never done it, so I’m not certain, but I think that’s what would happen.

I guess it’s possible also that it just leaves the existing WordPress tables alone, but the tables are not usable in bbPress, so there could be weirdness. It’s also possible that bbPress tries to alter the tables and fails in some places, making the table unusable for bbPress and probably WordPress.

It’s easiest to just replace the database with a recent backup. If you don’t have that, then you will have to look at the database directly with a tool like phpMyAdmin and see exactly what happened.

When you click “Admin” what happens?

And did you log in at bbPress or WordPress?

Did you try clearing your browser cookies?

#80465

I have this problem, always ended up concluding bbPress admin just doesn’t like login cookies set from the WordPress side. It’s a relatively common problem too, so it’s probably worth checking if it’s ever been reported to Trac.

(As an afterthought, this ought to be in troubleshooting, but I can’t change it… sorry!)

Hello. Let me introduce myself. I am an idiot.

I installed bbPress to my server. I wanted to have user integration with my WordPress installation. Great. I ran the installation, but I knew I’d have to do a lot of things manually because of my server set up. I entered the appropriate information for the config file, and it prompted me to create the config file with certain information in it because it didn’t have permissions to do so. Exactly what I expected. I ran the rest of the setup as it should go, and when I had it commence with the installation, it said that it had installed but with some minor errors. I looked at the config file, and the keys hadn’t been saved. So I entered in the keys as they should have gone, but then I stupidly changed the blasted database prefix to the same prefix as my WordPress installation thinking for some stupid reason that I was changing the setting for WordPress integration! IDIOT! It installs again with some “minor errors,” but this time going to the address of the forum actually brought up the forum instead of the installation prompt. I mozy on over to my WordPress installation (http://ipfcubed.com– which I’ve currently set to be inaccessable to the public– you’ll see why). Now every single draft and scheduled post (as well as unapproved submissions from contributors in the community) is now visible on the main page. When I make a new post, it says the year is 1999 (EDIT: Sorry– the date is still correct, but the post’s address says that it’s 1999: http://ipfcubed.com/1999/11//. The published posts count is also off– it says I have zero published posts in the dashboard. I can see that I’ve majorly messed up the posts table. Can someone PLEASE help me fix it? Any and all suggestions are welcome! Below I’ve provided both the error message and the installation log that it gave me:
