    Sorry, I don’t run buddypress.

    You might do better on the buddypress support forum

    https://buddypress.org/support/

    Have you tried

    Installing Group and Sitewide Forums

    and there is also talk of

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/private-bp-pages/

    and what have you set visibility within bbp to be eg

    https://codex.bbpress.org/step-by-step-guide-to-setting-up-a-bbpress-forum/ section 5

    @sooskriszta Well you asked for it, so I have just written a plugin that gives date and time instead of freshness.
    It will be uploaded to wordpress plugins in the next few days, but you can download immediately from

    bbp last post plugin

    Any feedback appreciated !

    If you’re just moving your bbpress site from one wordpress installation to another, then you don’t need to use migration (this is for forums of different types). Rather just use Dashboard>tools>export and select includes forums, topics and replies. and then Dashboard>tools>import on your new site.

    I have never seen any response from the devs/leaders of the bbpress team themselves, seems only volunteers (and thank you very much to them) are answering this forum. I can understand that, because they already created this plugin in their spare time, are not paid or anything, so if they had to answer here it would be a lot of more work… that is what I think.

    I think the threaded/nested replies included in bbpress are working the way it should, it is not a bug, it is just the way they wanted it to be it seems.

    The only way to fix this problem is to find someone skilled enough to code /and/or hack the current code to change the way nested replies are working and add pagination to it.
    I am trying to do it, but can’t figured it out yet… I am not a developper at all, so there is a lot of things I don’t understand… :/

    Another solution would be to update the bbPress Threaded Replies plugin https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bbpress-threaded-replies to make it work with the new bbpress version (and disable the integrated system in bbpress…) but I don’t know how to do that either…

    Hope we’ll find a fix soon, if someone has an idea we’ll be really grateful 🙂
    Thank you,
    Dorem

    When a user tries to send a private message “That page can’t be found.” error comes up. How can I solve this problem?
    I’m using wordpress 3.8.1 and buddypress 1.9.2; also private messages are enabled from buddypress settings.
    Thanks.

    It takes a while doesn’t it, but with all the detailed information around hopefully more and more users will see the beauty of bbPress. You can get stuck into it if you know WordPress where as other forum software is not quite as simple.

    A couple things I need help with. Is there a way to move the BBpress forum to the right on the page? The box fields are overlapping one of the widgets on my side menu. The other thing I need to change the color of the box fields. Which php file would I modify? I have WordPress vs. 3.8.1 and bbpress 2.5.3.

    This I would say is an issue for your web hosting provider and has nothing to do with bbPress or WordPress.

    Contact them about upgrading your plan for greater database queries per hour and/or bandwidth.

    I’d suggest you contact the plugin author on their support page

    Whilst much of this link is blanked out, it does seem to indicate a problem with conflicting page templates.

    http://www.experthelp.com/question/74882/i-have-installed-two-plugins-shopp-and-bbpress-a-shop-and-a-forum-the-start-page-of-each-plugin-is-showing-up-blank-on-my-wordpress-site-how-do-i-fix-it

    What I’d suggest you do is create a page template for your bbpress so that it only uses that one, leaving shop to use whatever template it is using.

    https://codex.bbpress.org/step-by-step-guide-to-setting-up-a-bbpress-forum/ part 8

    You don’t say what theme you are using – and in fact it could be the theme’s page template that is causing the issue.

    But let’s suggest for a starter that you look in your theme, and copy then rename it’s default page template as per part 8 above.

    If you need further help doing that, or it doesn’t work, come back

    Hi e11eca,

    You can access both your WooCommerce and bbPress through a single account. So any registered user would not have to create different accounts for the forum and the shop.

    Here is a blog post on the integration on WooCommerce and bbPress to create a paid forum.

    bbPress WooCommerce Integration: Tutorial on How to setup a Paid Forum on WordPress

    This i’m sure will give you in depth information on what you want.

    There are several plugins eg

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/gd-bbpress-attachments/

    The bbpress philosophy is “We’re keeping things as small and light as possible while still allowing for great add-on features through WordPress’s extensive plugin system. What does all that mean? bbPress is lean, mean, and ready to take on any job you throw at it.”

    So it’s not in the core because you then have the option of adding a plugin.

    You would paste that code into your theme’s function file.

    If you do not have a child theme you should consider creating one, just google “wordpress child theme video” and you’ll find lots of help. You’d then put this code into that theme’s function file.

    If you put it in the main theme (or indeed bbpress) it will be overwriten by any upgrades to those.

    12hoursofmesaverde.com (I have Shopp deactivated right now)
    WordPress = 3.8.1
    bbPress = 2.5.3
    Shopp = 1.3.1

    I’m not sure if this is a Shopp issue or bbPress so I am reporting it to both of you.

    I can’t run Shopp and bbPress at the same time without bbPress breaking. When I have them both activated, many of the Shopp admin UI abilities go away (no forums tab, some forums disappeared). I also tried to make a new forum and got an error that the post type was not valid. When I deactivated Shopp, bbPress started working normally again.

    Hi,

    When i place any of the BBPress default widgets that ‘list’ (ie ‘Recent Replies’, ‘Forums’, ‘Recent Topics’) on a category.php WordPress template, the listings
    shows recent ‘posts’ from wordpress rather than BBPress objects?

    Is this a bug or is there anything any one can suggest? I’ve tried resetting the query etc right above the widget output and underneath but nothing seems to work?

    Thank you for any advice here!

    I’m a bit of a newbie to this area, having just created my first settings page, so of this is irrelevant, please ignore !

    The following talks about needing to register

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_API

    eg “NOTE: You MUST register any options you use with add_settings_field() or they won’t be saved and updated automatically. ” – which seems to describe your problem

    and

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_setting

    That may not be necessary as you’re adding it as a filter??

    anyway my code cribbed from elsewhere looked like

    // register the plugin settings
    function ui_register_settings() {

    	// create whitelist of options
    	register_setting( 'ui_settings_group', 'ui_settings' );
    	}
    //call register settings function
    add_action( 'admin_init', 'ui_register_settings' );

    where ui_settings was my array.

    Just to add to this thread as I’ve been experiencing the same sort of issues with edited replies appearing at the bottom of the thread and some other anomalies regarding posts being given strange “Reply to” post numbers (too inconsistent to reproduce).

    All resolved for me by turning off the “Reply Threading” setting in Forums Settings. This also reactivated the paginating which hadn’t been working with this setting active.

    Not running anything unusual although someone mentioned php version which I know not to be the latest on our server. Details below:

    PHP Version: 5.2.5
    Wordpress Version: 3.8.1
    Active Theme: Twenty Fourteen 1.0

    bbPress 2.5.3 (active)
    BuddyPress 1.9.2 (active)
    Disqus Comment System 2.74 (active)
    Fourteen Colors 1.0.1 (active)
    Jetpack by WordPress.com 2.8 (active)
    Unconfirmed 1.2.3 (active)
    WP Approve User 2.3 (active)
