This sounds encouraging. I am running a standalone bbpress forum v1.02, so does it mean that it can simply install WordPress, then install this latest version of bbpress and I can import from there all my existing forums, user datas and threads? Would all the urls correspond with the old ones?

    Hi,

No, WordPress permalink isn’t affecting bbpress forum posts. It’s taking its slugs from the topic title instead of using post-id.

Just to clarify, your wordpress permalinks are already set as /post-id/{id} and bbPress is not using this permalink structure? I am not sure if bbPress is setup to be able to use a different permalink structure…

    Hi everyone.

I’m a bit new at this, could anyone can recommend any good appointments plugin for wordpress?  I need it for my Hair salon to get my bookings taken online. I saw one that is called wp-obs (I think), looks pretty advanced. Did anyone have any experience with it? Or tested it? Any feedback  will be appreciated.

bbPress uses WordPress’ database to store its data. Specifically, the wp-posts table.

    Thanks for reply @Johnjamesjacoby

So, now I should try to query it from database.
    I’ve found this post, https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/display-a-list-of-recent-topics/

Can I ask you a simple dump question? (because I’m really newbie here and I want to finish my work as soon as posible 🙁 )
Where is bbPress database located? Or how can I access to modify it?

I’ve look around in my phpMyadmin but it has only WordPress database.

Thank you again for help. 🙂

    Scenario:
When I upgraded Buddypress and BBpress recently (two weeks ago), members can’t access the site-wide forums properly anymore.
    1. Regular members can’t view the first entries in single topic pages anymore.
    2. They don’t have access to the hidden forums they could access before.

All in all, only admins can see anything.

While trouble shooting, the ‘missing’ posts and forums show up when I have BuddyPress disabled. Could this be a user privilege conflict? I’ve reset my User Role Editor and deactivated the plugin but it didn’t solve anything. What I’m scared I have probably destroyed the capabilities settings completely. Is there a way to fix this without having to start from scratch? I’m more concerned about the content we’ve built up in more than a year.

Argh. Now the opposite is true–http://museumnation.com/register/ doesn’t work, and the other does. The change happened when I removed “www” from the WP and site URLs in Settings –> General, as described here: http://ma.tt/2006/06/wordpress-no-www/

    Any ideas?

That’s caused by a conflict with your theme, most likely because the theme is doing bad things to the WordPress queries (to pull in the topics / replies).

    What theme is it?

OK. . . The plot thickens. I just checked, and the register link is working at http://museumnation.com/register/ — but not when the URL has a www in front of it. http://www.museumnation.com/register/ redirects to the home page. I haven’t seen this problem on my other WordPress sites–the URL with or without WWW sends users to the same place.

So. . . Is there some kind of setting I should be looking for at my webhost to fix this WWW/no WWW issue?

    Thanks again.

I’m considering bbpress for one of my most popular community in Bangladesh. I looked at other forum software but bbpress seemed perfect for me as it runs within WordPress. I’m running bbpress as a plugin. Now, my forum is on Bangla language. So, each time a topic is created, the slug becomes unicode character like this: /ফোরাম-টপিক

As you can see, it’s really ugly-looking as well as bad for sharing links. For my blog, I’ve chosen the permalink as /post-id/{id}. I would like to do the same for bbpress (something like PunBB). How can I do so?

    Hi Everyone.

I have a simple question but I’ve search for its answer for a day and nothing to solve.

My question is, How can I use “[bbp-single-forum]” and limit its amount of return topics?
I would like to show only 5 recent topics in the page for specific forum. But bbp-single-forum displays all of them.

Or is there any alternative method for my requirement?

Thanks for advance for any help ^^

bbPress 2.0 is a WordPress plugin, which means you must have WordPress installed to use it.

Installled this on my WordPress site

Is it just me or is incredibly complicated?

I want to make a simple classified forum on. My site

I made header. Classifieds.. Then wanted sub forum cars. But the topic is on its own and not even under the classifieds forum I created.. I am doing this on my iPad. Maybe that is my problem?

I want the forum to be called classifieds.. Then a section or cars. Then section for parts. Within each topic header I want to list cars for sale and in parts list parts separately.

    Thanks in advance

    Dear all,

I have post this at plugin site, however, i want to post it here too since this was an issues and i want to increase the popular of this post so that the master or “sifu” can see and help… thanks
I am fresh to wordpress. I have install bbPress into my wordpress, and i face some serious issues.
By default, after I comment on a topic, it should be refresh the page and show me my comment with “Awaiting Moderation”. However, it’s some time do not refresh and stay in same page, it will link me to the main topic pages.
After I set the topic and reply under “Per Page” section to 1000 per page, this issue do not occur anymore. But problem is reader do not like so many topic or comment in 1 page. It’s seems that bbPress by default do not have a solution in the code to link correctly between the topic pages?
For example, if I set under “Per Page” section, 10 post per reply. When this topic have more than 10 reply, the 11 reply will go to page 2, here the issue will start. anyone post after page 11 will be link to wired page/link or the page will display “Oh bother! No replies were found here!” or “page 404, not found”.
Anyone have a solution on this? Any help is appreciate…
    Thanks

It looks like you have fixed this and it is a WordPress issue and not a bbPress issue.

    Ok… Maybe define en-US in wp-config.php `define (‘WPLANG’, ‘en-US’);`

That might lead to other issues with the rest of your site though not having en-US for WordPress

Another option, although I don’t think this will works anymore is to upload them to /wp-content/plugins/bbpress/languages/
