In reply to: config.php
What do you have in your wp-config for the host and database name in wordpress?

In reply to: bbpress possibilitiesIt hasn’t been talked about for a ‘long time’ here in the forums, but if you just embed your bbPress install around your WP theme, it will be calling the wordpress stuff for the sidebar and then have your forum on something like a WP ‘page’. We just implemented the plugin admin for the 1.0 release and 0.8 has the theme admin. It won’t be too long before someone figures out how to get ‘sidebar’ widgets working with bbPress…..just time!

In reply to: change “admin” nameThat is the easiest way for sure fel64!

In reply to: export wordpress posts into bbpress forum? If you setup that old WordPress blog as an integration with your bbPress installation and then install the bbPress-Post plugin from http://dev.mbzeus.net/forum/ you can do it. It is a real pain in the butt, but if you have the integration plugin working, you can ‘edit’ each of the old posts and then save them again . This creates the entry in bbPress. Last time I checked though, it didn’t update the timestamp to the original post time though.

In reply to: Integration issues? Are you using any plugin on this installation? I have heard of people having this issue when using the bbPress-Post plugin for posts out of wordpress.
Trent
In reply to: config.phpWhat host are you using? What database version are they setup with? Have you asked them about it because it should find the available port without actually having it defined in your config as long you just define the hostname or try using localhost.

In reply to: Template of this forum??Really? Does anyone have a URL of this theme installed so I can take a look at it? It was working fine for me on 0.8 and now with TRAC. If I could see it installed somewhere else, maybe I can figure out what is wrong with it!

I will be working on things this weekend….been too busy lately! I do have some ideas that might work though!

In reply to: bb_get_user needs a numeric IDEasiest thing to do is take all the plugins out and add them one by one until you find out which one is the problem because one of them is for sure….

In reply to: Template of this forum??For sure the link for my blog entry is here. How do mean “doesn’t work”? You mean the download version or the actual theme? The theme works. I have my forum on it right now…..will change this in a day or so back to my main theme though….just showing everyone it works!

In reply to: Initial install, first login, no joy.Ok….could you put down your actual URL’s here for me and then the corresponding parts that determine the paths of your config.php and we can see if we can figure it out. As well, does it work with mod_rewrite being false?
Trent
In reply to: Initial install, first login, no joy.It might be a cookie issue. Is this integrated with WP or just a standard install?
Trent
In reply to: Some links do not workYou have some kind of ‘red bar’ above the forums. Were you playing around with the theme? If it is just a basic install, I would make sure you upload the files again to make sure they are all there and just use the basic theme without any changes until you get it working.

In reply to: Learning Curve Too LargeIt can be daunting at first, but if you have the correct paths and database information in your config.php it really is a quick and easy install. There is a plugin for ‘quicktags’ that will put in a graphical buttons portion for those tags if you want to make that easier for visitors. It is currently working on the wordpress.org forums if you want to head over there and take a look.

In reply to: bozoYou don’t need an SVN client to get the latest TRAC version. If you don’t mind downloading the entire package, you can just download the entire thing as a zip and then upload it to your server. That is the way I do it right now. I just know which files are changed and upload them.
Trent
In reply to: links to forums brokenGood to hear! Thought you had a strange situation going on there…!
Trent
In reply to: bozoThat is coming in 1.0 for sure. That was just a ‘quick and dirty’ fix to get it working.

In reply to: What plugin makes this?bbPress is brought to you by Automattic, the corporation. Not sure if there is a place to donate to this project or not…..I don’t think anyone has ever asked!
Trent
In reply to: What plugin makes this?It is done through CSS and blockquote. We don’t have it in the stylesheet here in these forums, but can be done easily. The image for the quote is here. Just download a copy of it to put in on your server. The CSS for that particular one would then be:
.post blockquote {background: url('/path-to-your-image/quote.gif') no-repeat;margin-left: 175px;padding:5px;border:1px solid #a3a3a3;}

It might be a localhost issue with the backslashes. There is a plugin I reference in there that might help.

In reply to: Limit to the number of posts in a thread? It really wouldn’t matter I don’t think! I know there are posts in the wordpress.org and wordpress.com forums closing in on that many posts on a topic and not a glitch. Heck, you go for 10,000 and let us know! Should be fine.
Trent
In reply to: “Topic title started by .” weirdnessNo issues at all! Just thought if you all add to that ticket it might get fixed And no duplicate TRAC tickets as well! As well, not sure what fixed it, but the 37 Years Ago part is gone with the recent TRAC version….
