Members pasting text and HTML codes showing

Published on May 22nd, 2019 by bdd

When members on my site are pasting text into a post, it’s showing up as a bunch of code with HTML tags. If I paste the same text as an admin, it shows up fine. I’d like it to either work for them like it works for me, or to at least strip out the tags and show plain text. Help? Thanks.

For example, they paste text that shows up like this:

<div class=”section-block” style=”margin: 0px 0px 30px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background: #fbfbfb; color: #222222; font-family: ‘Open Sans’, sans-serif;”>
<h2 style=”margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 20px; vertical-align: middle; background: transparent; color: #000000;”>Getting Started</h2>
<p style=”margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; background: transparent;”>New to BuddyPress? Not sure where to begin? <i style=”margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; background: transparent;”>Getting Started</i> is here to help! Everything you need to know about setting up your new BuddyPress powered site is here from installing and activating to setting up Extended Profile fields.</p>

</div>
<div class=”section-block” style=”margin: 0px 0px 30px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background: #fbfbfb; color: #222222; font-family: ‘Open Sans’, sans-serif;”>
<h2 style=”margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 20px; vertical-align: middle; background: transparent; color: #000000;”>BuddyPress Features</h2>
</div>

And I paste it and it shows up as normal text (with proper styling/formatting):

Create a Business Directory Using Post Categories?

Published on May 22nd, 2019 by unclebob1zt

Running the latest version of WordPress and BBPress, (have Buddypress loaded, but I deactivated it, just so I can focus on learning BBPress right now). Been rolling it around in my head what is the best way to create a Business Directory on my site. Thought maybe I could do this through BBPress somehow, but after spending hours last night going down rabbit holes on the forum, (they were great knowledge, just too much time involved), I figured just ask 😳🙈😅🤪. I am trying to come as close as I can to mimicking https://www.ncfarmfresh.com/farms.asp . I do not have enough experience, (YET), to know what they are using to do this. I like https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/business-directory/ , but, I have great concern getting locked into expensive updates. I read a seven year old post in this forum, suggesting to someone else asking the same question, that they use custom Post Categories. I thought long and hard on that, but I don’t see where it would work like I am needing. Any solid suggestions?

bbpress menu items not visible in dashboard

I just installed bbpress, but the bbpress menu items are not visible in the wordpress admin dashboard. I tried deactivating all other plugins and even switching themes, but the menu items remain invisible.

WordPress Version: 5.0.4
bbPress Version: 2.5.14

bbp private groups plugin Show topics

Published on May 21st, 2019 by kjhjkhjk

I’m using bbp private groups to set forum from a group as private, but I want to enable that everyone can see the “topics titles” of the forums, then, when they click to one of this topics, they will be redirected to the registration page for a signup, register, etc.

It this possible?

Thanks

Automatically follow links

Published on May 20th, 2019 by steve01351

When I (or someone else on my site) posts links to new articles, etc, is there a way to have the contents of that link automatically displayed instead of the link itself being displayed? For example, on my site there’s this post: “http://notdos.com/forums/topic/bernie-rally-next-saturday-5-25-19-in-montpelier”. Clicking on that post displays this link: “https://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/story/news/2019/05/13/bernie-sanders-vermonts-presidential-hopeful-coming-montpelier-2020-presidential-campaign/1188019001/” I would like to see the contents of that link displayed in the post instead of seeing the link itself.

Oh yeah, my site is WordPress 5.2

Thanks

Help!! All post are publishing with an HTML tag

Published on May 20th, 2019 by kjhjkhjk

Hello, guys, I don’t know why all my post are posting like <p>Message</p>

I don’t saw that error before, because this just only happens when another user, I mean a non-admin user post a message, When I am logged as an admin and I post something, the error doesnt show up, but when a normal user with the role of “participant” post a new message.

Automatically all his messages are showing a <p>Hello this is my message<p>

I know this is totally weird, but what can I do to detect the source of this error?

Visual editor doesn’t work

Published on May 20th, 2019 by brahman111

Hi guys,

From some days ago I realised that in the forum of my courses visual editor doesn’t work and in the reaplying area is simply showing html editor as I am showing in this picture: http://i63.tinypic.com/15cyold.png

Before It was working perfectly but all of the sudden something changed, I am using TinyMCE, just in case that gives more information.

Actually I realised that in this forum from BBpress is happening the same, now I am writting and it doesn’t show a regular visual editor..

¿Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you.

Change the image size in post and video width

Published on May 19th, 2019 by kjhjkhjk

Hello, I’m trying to reduce the size of the images posted in the forums and replies, but I just found answers in this forum, from 6 years ago or more, that applies too for the embed and width of video contents. I just see very old answers with classes that don’t even exist in bbpress.

So I ask for a recent or valid answer, how can I change the size of videos and images in the post?

Thanks.

PhPBB to BBPress

Published on May 19th, 2019 by stinsonowners108

I have taken over an aviation club website from a guy that had stuff spread all over the place.
I’m trying to centralize so that I and those after me can easily manage the site.

I would like to move his phpbb forum to BBPress so I can protect some sections of the forum using MemberPress.

I used Fivvr to try to get it transferred but the guy didn’t really know what he was doing.

I have a phpbb backup and need help migrating.

As an extra challenge, I have a backup from a Yahoo Groups and Facebook group that I would love to migrate into BBPress as well.

This is a small aircraft owner site with less than about 400 members so my budget is not large, but I would like to work with someone to get it done.

Http://stinsonowners.org is the site. where you can see the Fivvr developer got data into BBPress but its not right.

My direct email is will.ware@me.com if you can help.
