Just as a follow-up… my conversion did complete successfully! and I got it moved back to my hosting server. Everything seems to be working fine. I ran all the repair tools and that certainly fixed all the mis-matched posts…so that’s good. I’m not really sure how long it took, but I’m guessing it was about 8-10 hours. …and it seemed to go at a pretty stable pace throughout. I didn’t really notice a slow-down. I ran it on a macbook pro i7 w/ 4gb ram.
I have noticed that the post counts shown in the admin cp do not necessarily match what is shown on the user side, with the user side being correct (even after running the re-counters). It’s not that big of a deal, it just almost gave me a heart attack since I thought a whole group of posts was missing. But they’re there safe and sound after all. So I’m not sure what’s up with that.
So now I’m just trying to figure out what type of theme I want to use…and hopefully I can get the site active again.
@Stephen Edgar – if you are making changes to the vBulletin importer and would like to have someone test on a larger db, I would be glad to do it.
Thanks!
Rachael
Stephen, if you want admin/test access to a mostly working import from vbulletin to phpbb to bbpress, let me know if it would be helpful. There are quite a few users that have import_ in from of their usernames and duplicate users.
would like to keep the latest discussions posts on the front page but would like to limit how many are shown, perhaps 5 or so.
not sure where this is located in the backend nor in the files.
any help is appreciated.
thx
Currently using bbPress 2.3.2 Forum plugin ( http://batgap.com/forums/ ) … Every time any given thread exceeds 30 plus pages, it starts to malfunction. After writing a post, and hitting ‘Submit,’ instead of refreshing the latest page where the new comment appears, the poster is redirected back to page one. Also happens when clicking on the link to the latest comment, or the links contained in email notifications. Only way back to the latest page, is by actually clicking on the page number.
Is there any fix for this issue? Other than staring a new thread.
Thank you but where in your WordPress profile do you copy one or link to your own? I see the six choices in the admin and then this
For users without a custom avatar of their own, you can either display a generic logo or a generated one based on their e-mail address.
Now, having signed up to test, I created a hash of my email address to do the procedure and write it down, but there is no place to paste my hash.
Hi – I have the bbPress “Recent Topics” widget on the homepage of the site that I am working on (http://heattreatforum.flyten.net/). I want the parent forum that the topic was entered in to show up below the topic in this widget. How can I make this happen?
The version of WP I’m working with is 3.6, the bbpress verions is 2.3.2
Any help would be appreciated – thanks!
I want to have users host their avatar at Gravatar. How do I link to my avatar there via my line of code? I did an md5 hash for my avatar to test. Which plugin do I use to link that line of code?
Thanks 🙂 The latest v1.8 update is looking good 🙂
I’d like to know if you have any success with this, i posted a similar issue here but i havent had any luck rectifying it.
The last time test i tried i got to >300k (forum has ~400k) posts after the convertor stalled and requiring a restart a couple of times, until the most recent time tried to restart I got this error in the output window:
Repair any missing information: Continue

Starting Conversion
Im currently running this on AWS (Amazon Servers) and had upgraded to the server to something with a bit more grunt but its not helping.
Ive also discovered, not sure if this is related, that none of the replies that are imported are assigned to a forum or a topic and when viewing a topic only the first post appears and none of the related replies.
looking forward to response.

Did any of you test out wether the hidden content is visible through the search results?
Right now I’m using Page Security by Contexture to shield off the forums from certain member ranks.
But non members can still retrieve the content of off limits replies through the search form. They also show up for non access members in the recent replies widget.
I ran into to some server problems and it turned out to be my test site was opening up tons and tons of connections to the server, all php5, and the only way to stop it was to uninstall WordPress not even deactivating bbpress worked…very odd.
I will do some more tests this weekend and and get back to you… I am thinking the convert vb.php maybe did not close connection when it was done? Just a gut feeling plus I know nothing about coding.
OK, so in my PC it was incredibly slow so I made a test SMF and deleted a ton of users, topics and replies and left about 7000 replies, 600 topics and 800 users, uploaded to a VPS and the conversion was really fast.
As far as I can tell the import went well, seeing the numbers I noticed a few topics/replies missing but I’m not sure if it’s that they were lost or the SMF statistics are wrong.
Anyway I’ll proceed to test with the full database to see how it goes.
Thanks for the info on the short codes. It has taken forever to find that info.
Alright, I took and created two pages, “Register Page” and “Lost Password Page”. I published them both and put the URL’s in the appropriate spot in the widget. Then I go to the site and test out the register page and enter my information. When I click register it says, “User registration is currently not allowed”. What do I do from here???
Go give bbPress 2.4 RC1 a test run…

Hmmm… Yep quotes are converted correctly, are you sure you uploaded the latest vBulletin.php file and uploaded to
http://themaraudershockeyclub.com/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/admin/converters
Yes all the Qoutes are working and look good.
You are welcome to take a look at my test site.

The only videos that work are ones I removed the stuff from, i don’t know what its called [video].
I just uploaded and tested it and it is working as it should for me (I added a few of your ‘[video=youtube_share…’ links to some vB posts.
Hi Xevo,
sorry, but it runs still on localhost.
But it looks just like here in the forum. For example, in the table “Latest Topics”
Please look here.
These small avatars I would like to delete.
I guess it is to be found in the same file of bbPress?
Would be glad for help.
Thank you.
Hello. I am testing out the bbpress forum for future use on my website. It is currently located at http://www.historicmysteries.com/forumss/forumm/administration/
I am using a Studiopress Genesis theme and downloaded the BBpress Genesis plugin and toolkit.
If you take a look at the link, the “freshness” text is located underneath and to the right of the text “forum”. Is this correct? It seems out of place.
Any assistance is appreciated
I think – ironically – my posts are being sent straight to spam or pending, etc. here on the bbpress forum. I posted something here yesterday and have not seen it yet. My profile says I have no started topics.
How can this be fixed here? Also, how can I fix it on my own site? I’m using Gensis 2.0.
Thanks.
Ken
Hello,
I am using Weaver II theme and latest version of WordPress. Here is the link to the page I am trying to put the forum on.
http://www.stan-mitchell_DOT_net/tech-forum-5/ (CHANGE THE “_DOT_” TO “.”)
I get the forum topics and I can navigate to the topics and I see the blue box saying there is a reply, but I cannot see the replies to any topics. I have deactivated all plugins and changed the theme then changed permalinks and saved then reactivated the weaver theme and reactivated plugins and still the replies do not show. I am a noob here so probably something simple but any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
(I thought I posted yesterday but don’t see it under my profile. If duplicate, mods know what to do)
WP 3.5.1 with bbPress. Click topic in one forum (I.e. domain.com/general/topic) and it shows 11 posts with 10 per page. Click page 2 and it brings you to a new forum and topic.
Yesterday I tested and it brought me not to the 11th post but another forum and topic (domain.com /sports/twins). Just checked now and it brings up a different forum and topic than yesterday.
I need to know how to fix this. I’m thinking a temp fix is to allow 20 topics per page as the site is new. I’m just hoping I can do that.
But I need a perm fix so it stays on topic.
(The site is for mature folks so I can give our leader, Justin, the URL but won’t post it).
Hi jezza,
really a great plugin!! Thanks.
Does it works with the latest WP Version 3.6 ?
The SimplePress converter is already included in bbPress and is the latest version available, you should not need to download and upload it to your server.
The settings are critical to getting the importer working correctly, sadly at this stage there is very little error messages displayed if you get any of these settings wrong and this is the most common issue with importing.
Ensure your settings are correct for the fields noted in the docs here:
https://codex.bbpress.org/import-forums/#configuring-the-importer
You may have to check with your webhost to ensure you are using the correct values.
bbpress is under active development by JJJ, so the latest versions should work with the latest versions of wordpress.
