Agreed. Once the templates really start flowing, we can get our own theme switcher or maybe we can throw something up on Pro Forums for it. Either way, it will take a little time.

The support forum functions were removed with 0.8 and so10 placed these functions into a plugin. I am sure there is only a few small changes that will not take very long.

Trent –
I’ll post the errors when I get home tonight. I think that it probably had to do with changes in the database, if I remember correctly I think it was with the “topic resolved” field?
Len
Well just look here:
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo.php
Really would like to have something like this
That is a good question. I have yet to test it on the most recent version of bbPress. I guess if nothing else you can run it on an install of 0.74 and get it working and then upgrade bbPress to 0.8 afterwards if nothing else. What were the errors?
Trent
Does anybody know if this script is supposed to work with the latest release of bbpress (.? I ran into some problems importing some of the tables.
Thanks, Len
Hi Trent,
Thanks for this. Sorry but I think this is a very bad joke, especially if people like myself are coming over because of spammers killing phpbb.
Well at least this is cleared up.
PHEW! I’m so sorry. I so nieve with such things. Thanks for the check thru.
I have looked over the code of this plugin and it doesn’t send your email to spammers. Jaim3 even put this in the code:
// DISCLAIMER: This is a joke
echo "<li><h3>Sending all your database e-mails to all major world-wide spam sending mafias...</h3></li>";
If someone else wants to look to confirm, but it does what it is intended to as far as I am concerned.

Hi all,
I have been trying to convert my phpbb script to bbpress and unknowingly used this script by jiam3.
Here is the link: http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/402?replies=25
Admin if you find this command below in this script to be true please lock this thread and remove the link.
Careful, at the end of the script it writes:
“Sending all your database e-mails to all major world-wide spam sending mafias…”
This is not good. I tried to contact the author and the email link is dead.
I have now to suffer the consquences. “Buyer Beware!”
I tried to contact the author of this list, and his email is dead. I would becareful as it seems this list sends all your forums members emails to spammers. Just to be safe DONT use this script!
I’ll have to suffer with the conciquences!
Watch out! I think this script by jaim3 sends all your emails to spammers!
Hey all,
I’m not sure, but this script does not work and seems to send all your emails to spammers. Careful. Use Bruno’s instead.
Hi Ateale,
Which script did you use cos the one i found to convert it did not work for me?
thanks.
Hey Trent, please try to keep in mind some phpBB implementations are actually in php-nuke, which is slightly diff… I would love to convert my last few nuke sites over to something else, but the hold up has always been the forums… a conversion to bbpress might solve that…
thanks…
It’s better than Christmas…
But really, I have to say that even though I am much more familiar with phpbb, and even though it has a (currently) larger, more active community, and even though there are many more features, I chose to stick with bbpress to integrate with wordpress.
First of all, the integration process, though buggy now, will no doubt only get simpler and cleaner. I also expect to soon see the types of features that I need, and a shortage of the code that I can do without.
In fact, my decision may even have been in part due to the “code is poetry” which is written at the bottom of each page, but more importantly in the code. I’m excited to see the developments, and would even like to get to the point where I can lend a hand to the community like others are.
Brad and I will work on a write up for converting to bbPress from other programs. Sad part is, everything seeems to convert over to phpBB, so most of the writeup will be converters to phpBB and then the 2 phpBB => bbPress converters we have here
Trent
In the post above, from this post in that topic down to be exact. Then use the phpbb => bbPress converter in these forums.

Solution From Trent!
Here is something for drupal to phpbb and then you can use the converter back to bbPress maybe…..?

Ok i hope that last part:
“Sending all your database e-mails to all major world-wide spam sending mafias…”
Is a joke? I am moving from phpbb because of spam and this does not sit too lightly on me…ok i need to take a chill pill.
Ok back to the task as hand. It totally does not work for me i get no databases installed? When i run it, I get all the exporting scripts, then point 8. about the mafia. And then I get a row of numbers “39816”
I’m using 0.75. Is there a version conflict?
Thanks.
hey guys
Does anyone know of a plugin or a way to create a “Top Posters” section?
In our soon to be dead phpbb2 forum we have a mod/plugin that lists the top 5 posters – their name, avatar & # of posts
Any ideas?
Cheers!
Adam
Hey guys!
sorry i didn’t get back to your replies sooner. Thanks for the effort!
Yeah i am trying to work out whether to use bbpress or wordpress or both. But most importantly want to get away from phpBB2
I see both *press being powerful. I am not sure whether to offer both tools on our site, or just go with wordpress.
BBpress has allowed me to keep all our previous years content from phpBB2. But i am just not sure whether to use it or not.
Our members might get confused where to post entries and how to reply/comment.
I’d just go with bbpress but at the moment wordpress seems to have a lot of goodies like themes/pplugins that i am using.
Sorry i realised I am crapping on!
Any ideas/recommendations?
This will be a big issue for quite a few people I think. In fact, there has been 2 occurances that I could have used an export function and frankly, the wordpress XML format would be my preference!
Trent
? so,,,,,,,,,,,, you want the first post to be the blog post itself, and all the replies to be comments?. it is doable, but why?
It sounds that playing with a cool DB migration tool would be woth your while.
