    Hi everyone

    Is there a way of disabling bbpress jquery and css files loading when a user visits the blog?
    upon installing bbpress the “weight/loading” of a blog page increases a bit, anyway of disabling it? Only loading when someone visits the forum?

    The following code disables the bbpress css, is there a way to disable the javascript/jquery?
    Thanks

    function mp_deregister_bbstyles() {
    if ( function_exists( 'is_bbpress' ) ) {
    if ( !is_bbpress() ) {
    wp_deregister_style( 'bbp-default-bbpress' );
    }
    }
    }
    add_action( 'wp_print_styles', 'mp_deregister_bbstyles', 100 );

    I have been with bbPress before it was a plugin for WordPress and have to thank all for the efforts and congratulate how far it has gone.
    I decided to stick with bbPress after researching many other forums software because of how easy it was to integrate with WordPress.

    Since I had some time off from college for the summer I decided to make my own customized theme for the whole site based on what I had. After several days playing with the CSS and a few functions/filters the whole site finally came together.

    http://wowlazymacros.com/forums

    There is still a few things that I would like to implement, like posts count (which I did but it did not update the numbers, I have to manually repair the forums to keep them updated?) and being able to assign more title ranks (I was able to with Cubepoints but that project seems dead).

    Just have a peek at my forums and let me know what you guys think. 🙂

    Hi together,

    I have two problems, I cannot solve by myself. I spent hours, but didn’t make any progress.

    I would really appreciate some help!

    Here is a picture, showing the problems:

    Screenshot

    # Problem one, the red marked “dots”. I really don’t have any idea, how to remove them.

    # Problem two, the green marked “forum text”. How can I change “size and color”? I examined the whole CSS file, but couldn’t figure it out.

    Thanks in advance!

    The two examples you gave are close, but do not actually show what I need, this link is more like what I mean.

    But, they did make me realize that the desired hierarchy can be achieved with a combination of css and selecting the right category/forum/topic order, and that the existing three levels (categories/forums/topics) is one too little.

    This is what I think is a solution.

    1.Create/give parent Categories a name to display as title in a new category header, remove all other data through css from the header, like the “topics” and “freshness” text since this needs to be echoed only in the next level of categories.

    2.Create categories in parent category and change functions and css so they show as a list under each other and include topics and hierarchy text.

    3.create another level of categories to act as main forums, here we include the freshness-links and topic count.

    4.Topics/threads are created inside the fourth level.

    5.remove the original bb-header to allow the first level categories to take over this function.

    I think this makes sense to me, will have to try tomorrow if this works.

    I can not yet make my solution of the freshness-topic-title public since I am working on a theme with this function included, I can not send private messages on the bbpress forum else I would have pm’ed you it as appreciation for your reply.

    You can send me a mail and I will send you the code but please keep it to yourself.

    Here is a link to a live demo, this is a work in progress and site is not close to finished but you can get an idea of what I did.

    I’ll try that out! I used the .entry-title tag before. And that was used by metro. didnt use .bbPress

    The problem is the theme uses the same tag

    @janhoos
    .bbPress is only added to the body tag only where bbPress is active. Hence, you could use body.bbPress to ID bbPress pages. I don’t use Metro, so I find it strange that .bbpress would be added to body tag in all pages.

    Thanks for the answer. The problem is the theme uses the same tag. I could alter it in my theme, but I would rather add a class in bbPress. As I bought the theme and I believe it will get updates every now and then. Although you can say the same about bbPress of course… 😛

    @janhoos to control page titles in bbPress pages, add to your stylesheet:

    body.bbpress h1.entry-title {
    // your styles here
    }

    Hey guys!

    I’m using the genesis framework with the Metro childtheme (http://d1021797-400.nedlook.com/airsoftclubnederland.nl/forums/) and Metro has these (imo) cool big titles. But its really unneeded on the forums.

    I already know I can put the CSS file in my theme folder but when I mod the title attribute, the titles on normal pages and will also be smaller. Its not being restricted to bbPress as both (WordPress and bbPress) use the same title attribute.

    Where can I add a class to the bbPress titles? I imagine I need to modify a core file somewhere.

    That way I can simply copy the CSS from the metro title and put something like: div class bbpresstitle in front of it and make it so that only bbPress uses that bit of CSS.

    It’s possible that your theme has a bbpress.css file which is overriding whatever you’re putting in the default file. Regardless, you should be editing the file that’s in your theme’s directory, which would look similar to:

    webroot / wp-content / themes / yourtheme / css / bbpress.css

    If the file isn’t in there or you don’t have that folder in your theme, copy and paste the file over.

    Also make sure you’re hard refreshing your browser to clear its cache, after making your changes (hold CTRL then press f5 on your keyboard, or press the browser’s refresh button a couple of times).

    In your bbpress.css file, change the background of each of these:

    .entry-title {
    background: red;
    }

    #bbpress-forums div.odd,
    #bbpress-forums ul.odd {
    background: yellow;
    }

    #bbpress-forums div.even,
    #bbpress-forums ul.even {
    background: green;
    }

    Just change those color names to hex codes to make them look a bit better.

    I edited bbpress.css file but no changes are reflected on the page. I am not sure who to do this please help.

    From what I can see, Enfold is just another WordPress theme that has edited some bbPress CSS and files. If that’s the case, then everything will be fine — you’d still be using your WordPress install with the bbPress plugin, so your tables wouldn’t go anywhere.

    I’m also interested in this, especially with allowing my forum members to use some BBcodes, like spoiler, b, i, and others. (I transitioned from a phpBB board, so I want to make a smooth transition for my users.)

    I’ve been looking for a plugin to do this, but haven’t found anything. I’m thinking of making a simple plugin to do this by popping up a window (via jQuery) that will take the content of their post editor and display it with my CSS and processing the shortcodes. It sounds easy to me, but I could be really wrong.

    In our website here: http://thehousingforum.com , we use the bbp-forum-index shortcode to list the forum boards. But we want the forum boards to show up more like they are here: http://www.swnk.org/forums/ , which is shows them in a vertical way with Topics, Posts etc. I’m assuming that you have to edit the CSS to do this? Any quick and easy solution? Thanks.

    Is there anyway of making the stats display in a line rather than a list?

    On my site it makes it rather a long page it would make it easier if they displayed in a line…going to the next line if it doesn’t fit on the page. Or if you could make the list without spaces and the results show up next door to the the item?

    I know I can change the CSS and html but would rather it came with the original plugin so that I don’t have to keep reloading after updates.

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the help guys 🙂

    I figured it out, but thought I would update in case anyone comes across this as well. I admit this may not be the best solution; however it is working and I am happy.

    In the /wp-includes/post-template.php file, at line 427 I edited it to this:

    if ( is_single() ) {
    		$post_id = $wp_query->get_queried_object_id();
    		$post = $wp_query->get_queried_object();
    		$parent_id = get_post($post_id)->post_parent;

    		$classes[] = 'single';
    		if ( isset( $post->post_type ) ) {
    			$classes[] = 'single-' . sanitize_html_class($post->post_type, $post_id);
    			$classes[] = 'postid-' . $post_id;
    			$classes[] = 'parentforum-' . $parent_id;

    Where $parent_id = get_post($post_id)->post_parent;
    And $classes[] = 'parentforum-' .$parent_id;

    Are the additions.

    Then in the themes /style.css file I added something like:

    .parentforum-17,
    .postid-17 {
    background: #000000 url(http://alysiaworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/alysiasea.jpg) center top no-repeat fixed;
    }

    Hi,
    I’m trying to add the forum’s description to be under the forum title on the page-front-forums (index) page. Just like it displays on the single-forum page. Could someone please show me the proper code?

    I’ve already changed the css .bbp-forums-list li to “display: block;”

    Thank you!

    This is the answer I came up with and provided to some other people who have asked:

    Set Pinboard to 2 content columns, 2 Boxes Sidebar Columns, and 4 Footer Columns. Choose the first (farthest left) “Preferred Layout” option.

    Now, this is obviously going to dictate the look of the rest of your site. I got around that by doing a three-tier Multisite layout. It’s not hard to set up but it is a pain in the ass to have to re-install Pinboard and re-set every single option so the site is all the same, but that gives you the flexibility to have multiple different layouts and formats all within the same blog. I actually have one blog running my Blog, Articles, Podcasts, Video and About pages, then a second blog running my Photoblog database (which keeps the posts separate), and then finally the third blog running only bbPress. However, user profiles are integrated in a multisite so people stay logged in throughout the environment.

    One more thing to note: I moved the slider feature to my header by putting the slider section of the functions.php file actually in my search.php page, then deleting all other content from search. (My site only has search on the forums page). That makes the slider get called on each page first and you can tweak the menu layout and stuff to make it all appear up top. The only catch is the slider itself only works on the first page of a given blog (so it works on three of my pages). Everywhere else it is a static image, dictated by the oldest image chronologically amongst the slider pictures.

    Here’s my CSS:

    #slider .entry-title a {
    	display:none;
    }
    .flex-direction-nav, .flex-pauseplay {
    	display:none;
    }

    Hi!

    I’m a noob. And that sucks. I’ve created this page http://lydvaerk.beeforums.net.
    Problem is, users cannot add avatar ore gravatar. Somehow, I had the option to choose Gravatar as an administrator. But no other user seems to have this option. I would prefer to avoid Gravatar and use some regular option like most other forums. Is this possible?

    I could really use some help here. I should mention, I know nothing on CSS and such.

    Hey BBPress!

    I was wandering if ya’ll can help me out with this. So I have my theme styled so that each Forum gets its own background through the style.css file using the following lines:

    .postid-17 {
    background: #000000 url(http://alysiaworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/alysiasea.jpg) center top no-repeat fixed;
    }

    where postid-17 is the correlating WordPress post associated with the Forum.

    The problem now is that when you visit a Topic within the Forum, the background goes back to the default image :/

    I am thinking that there should be a code to pull the topics Parent Forum “postid” and then force the background to the topic.

    I hope that makes sense. I can dig through code, but I am not so skilled with writing my own yet.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    WordPress and BBPress are running the latest versions:

    Hi, actually I’m trying to develop a WP plugin that will do almost the same thing you were trying to do.

    My plugin is almost complete, what I can’t understand is How to create also a forum with same title of the post created by the form.

    Is there anyone who can send me to the right direction? Thank you.

    I completely agree with you, @nerdenpose. While the two above solutions essentially work, I’d much rather remove it completely from my theme. bbPress seems to be about clean and elegant, so I try to keep it that way by removing features that aren’t needed rather than hiding them.

    Also, don’t forget to remove this line if you don’t want it shown in specific forums as well (to go along with the above post).

    From content-single-forum.php:
    <?php bbp_single_forum_description(); ?>

    Also the “visibility: hidden” solution in the first reply irks me a bit. It works, but instead use “display: none” if you’re looking to remove these bars using CSS.
