by default bbpress does not require approval – they should just publish.
So either you have another plugin doing this (eg bbpress notify) or your comment moderation is set to tight – look in
dashboard>settings>discussion and check the befor a comment appears and the part below where the no. links allowed in a comment and the words that are allowed.
bbp style pack
once activated go to
dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>Forum Display enable item 6 forum description.
Then in
dashboard>forums>edit forum in each forum you can put in the content part whatever you want to appear. in your case the same description for each forum, but you can have a different.
Finally to get this on the main forums list, create a page called ‘forums’, and put your description at the top of this. Then add the shortcode [bbp-forum-index]
to this. bbpress will then use this as the main forums page.
looks like bbp_title is not working for users.
the code is called by a filter in
\bbpress\includes\core\filters.php
which is
Line 43: add_filter( 'wp_title', 'bbp_title', 10, 3 );
the function bbp_title is held in
\bbpress\includes\common\template.php
and the function starts at line 2578.
I may get a chance to look further tomorrow (or maybe not!), but if you fancy having a look. The function has a filter at the end, so if you can work out what’s wrong, should be easy to add a fix
ok, so I just tried 2019 on my test site, and I get the user name on the title bar, with just bbpress as the only plugin.
I m trying to change the size of my bbpress hot tags and give it a color “red” so it’s will be different
Is there a way I can achieve this
if you can produce a set of replicable steps, then I’ll happily look.
bbpress is installed on over 300,000 sites, and I’ve not seen this being reported in over 7 years of moderating.
I have google capcha “not a robot”
unregistered user can’t post
looks like a bug in bbpress since no plugin are active for user…
OK,
I don’t want bbpress forum replies to show up on Buddypress activity stream. I have researched this problem for days and cannot find a solution. I have tried 3 different plugins and they do not work anymore. I have come across this question multiple times but no one seems to give a clear answer. This question has gone back a least 9 years. I find it hard that Buddypress or bbpress has not found a solution to this problem. Please help!!!
well you have some sort of pop up doing this – not part of bbpress,it may be part of your theme or another plugin you are running?
Hello,
I am using yoast SEO and bbpress forums on my website i.e. Tooth Republic. Unfortunaltely, i am unable to figure out how to change meta description of main page of forums i.e. https://toothrepublic.com/forums/
Unlike other pages, edit button does not appear from yoast SEO plugin on this page. When i go to search appearance setting in SEO, it has a section to change default meta description for forums. Should i makes changes there?
Thank you for the reply. I followed along with this article to set the forum up but I did get lost on step 8, ss I am not familiar with themes and templates in WordPress. Where do I go in WordPress to access and edit the “root theme” and “page templates in the root of the directory”
“So once you know which page template file you need, copy this and rename the copy to bbpress.php
Place this file in the root of your theme ie wp-content/themes/%mytheme%/bbpress.php where %mytheme% is your theme’s name.”
I need a more dumbed down step by step walk though of this ^, ie where to go exactly in WordPress.
Thanks!

bbPress version: Version 2.6.4

Recently installed bbPress to create forum page. Want to have a sidebar on the forum page for registration/login. Do not have any other sidebars on our website – want the sidebar just on forum page. Installed bbPress WP Tweaks Version 1.4.4 and bbPress sidebar appears on Widgets edit page and I can drag widgets to display there, but it does not show up on the forum page. I’ve been searching forums far and wide for a solution to this and it seems it might be a theme issue but not too sure how to fix that…
Our parent theme is Salient and we have a custom child theme (we originally had a marketing firm create our WordPress site so I’m not too familiar with the themes or how to edit them…)
Any help would be much appreciated!!
make forums private to make them visible to users only
use shortcode
[bbp-register]
or anything in WordPress that does registration – bbpress just uses WordPress registration
I believe this is it
https://bbpress.org/feed/?post_type=topic/
but come back and confirm
it could be a theme or plugin issue
Themes
As a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.
Plugins
If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.
Then come back
I used to take part in the European Tall Ships races in the 1980’s – so recognise the logo! many happy memories.
start by reading
Step by step guide to setting up a bbPress forum – Part 1
Section 8 is the bit to read
Apologies if all the right info isn’t here- new to wordpress. Just installed bbpress on my site. When I view the forum directory at https://www.tallshipsamerica.org/tsaforums/ the theme is consistent with the rest of my site. When I open any of the individual forums (like https://www.tallshipsamerica.org/forums/forum/licensing/) the banner image doesn’t appear and the upper left logo overlaps the forum title. I’m looking to either have the full theme with the image, or at least move the forum title down so it fully shows.

I had the same problem but I was able to solve it.
BBpress controls the number of allowed URLs with WordPress settings.
Open WordPress settings, go to “Discussion”-> “comment moderation” item, and set the upper limit of pending URL.
If you enter a very large value, this problem will never happen again.
This idea was discovered by following in the “bbp_new_topic_handler” function.
The function called the “bbp_check_for_moderation” function, and finally used the “comment_max_links_url” filter to obtain the number of pending URLs.
ps bbpress just uses WordPress login, so they are one and the same, so login for WordPress (and your membership plugin) is login for bbpress.
and for your test user, see what bbpress role has been set in dashboard>users and edit the user, should be participant
I installed bbpress but I don’t see the “forums” item on the settings and no other category on the dash and as if it wasn’t installed.
bbpress just uses WordPress – so any WordPress registration will be fine – maybe theme my login
Uhm well regarding your hint I found this
Register on Multisite
Seems somewhat odd to me. bbpress claims to be from the developers of WordPress and to be multisite compatible but so far it seems not to be possible to use the registration properly without creating a custom wp-signup.php or using a third party plugin?
Did I get that right?
if you want anyone to be able to post, then you need to allow anonymous posting
dashboard>settings>forums and look for anonymous, but unless you really want general public posting I’d suggest not. If you do, look also at ‘bbpress notify no spam’ as another plugin.
I can’t say why the 2nd is happening – I’d suggest you set up a test user and see if they get the same issue.
then come back
