    Ok figured out my problem at least.

    Deactivated bbpress and then re-activated it. Removed all installed forums. Trashed then emptied the trash, along with topics

    Recreated forums. Now viewable by all users.

    Topic: User Role Map

    in forum Troubleshooting

    I have just installed the BBpress plugin for the latest version of WordPress. I cannot see the reply or post new topic functions. I searched the docs on here and it says I need to do a ‘user role map’ but I cannot find this. I have looked through WP Settings > Forums and this is the BBpress settings but there is nothing for user role map. I cannot see where it would be else where.

    Any help is great, thanks!

    I’m quite new to the whole localization deal so I’m not quite sure.

    Apparently the folder /wp-include/languages/ is for the translation of WordPress itself. So my guess is that /wp-content/languages/ would be the best place to place the translations.

    Then its not affected by theme or plugin updates, and yet it’s in wp-content which is the folder that should contain every non-standard WordPress files so that it’s easy to update WordPress itself.

    I’m not sure if it is a standard folder, of it’s the plugin qTranslate that created it.

    Some other thoughts ?

    I just converted from IPB to bbpress, and moved all my posts over.

    Now the problem is, all posts now contains html codes, instead of showing images, making line breaks etc.

    This is obviously a user permission problem, because when I post the same codes with the admin account, it shows right.

    Is there any way that I can allow users unrestricted html code, just like admin has?

    i want to change the URL of my forum.

    instead of being mywebsite.com/forum, i’d like it to be forum.mywebsite.com.

    i can’t find the URL hard coded into the database, so i’m guessing there is something in the plugin that references home_url but i am not sure where it is set.

    can someone please help?

    I’m trying to figure out if I have a theme problem, or if it is a problem with BBpress itself.

    Running WP 3.3, BP 1.5, and BBP 2.0

    I don’t have a New Topic link at the top of the forum the way the old BBpress used to have (and this forum has). It’s a usability thing to enable to user to jump down to the input box quickly.

    Does BBpress have it and my theme just not displaying it, or is it not part of the functionality of BBpress plugin?

    No issues so far. Love that the templates are no longer using tables. Being able to override templates without copying the entire folder is working out great as well!

    Tried just now.

    Didn’t make any difference to the forum page, but the topic page got worse…

    When I try to go directly to topic page with the URL, I only get a white page with the following error:

    Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in ../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 201

    Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in ../wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 202

    I’m translating the bbPress pot file to Danish.. it seems all the .po danish files are not up to date.

    I have a problem I can’t find the following:

    “EDIT | CLOSE | STICK (TO FRONT) | MERGE | TRASH | SPAM” in the pot file?!

    can someone point me in the right direction.

    Thanks Anointed

    Sorry I must of given the impression that I new what I was doing! Importing CSV data into MYSQL is about the limit.

    I have taken a look at the bbconvertor code but I am still none the wiser.

    I am able to change membership manually in bbpress front end, I still can’t see where this parameter is set in MSSQL.

    I am also able to change the password which then works with a new password string which I think is MD5 – I don’t really understand how this works.

    I can do it manually through the front end but was just wondering if there was a quicker way.

    Hello all I am also having this problem

    Website is http://www.omen-guild.net

    Mines a little wierder. Administrators can see the posts, so can Forum moderators. However all other roles can not. If you click on the Forum it says there is 1 post and 0 replies. But right under neath it says o bother etc

    http://omen-guild.net/forums/forum/guild-forum/

    going directly to the permalink

    http://omen-guild.net/forums/topic/respec-costs-cooldown/

    doesnt work either.

    I have changed the permalink type,

    changed the theme

    deactivated the bbpress

    no joy.

    have you tried a standard permalink option just to see if it would work? /%postname%/ for example?

    I’m not really sure what those errors mean, but that is my best guess, that somehow it doesn’t like the .html?

    Buddypress + bbPress integration will only get better. JJ is working on the next vs. which will include tighter integration between them. Eventually it will be completely transparent.

    This will turn off the admin section to all users except super-admins

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-no-admin/

    As to the login widget, there are a number of plugins with custom WordPress login wigets, some of which include redirects. Search the WordPress repository for one that fits your needs.

    Sorry you feel that way.

    I spend at least an hour a day answering every question in the forum that I am able to. There are other people that do their best to help out as well.

    Bottom line is we simply need more people who have the time to spend a few minutes a day in here to help out other users. This forum is run exclusively by volunteers only, so we all do what we can.

    This plugin is NOT built for bbpress but could easily be adapted and used with bbPress

    Topic: Show logged in users

    BBPress 1.0 had a “Show users who are logged in” plugin that would show all the users currently in the forum and it would also show users who are logged out but would show the order they visited.

    Is there an equivalent plugin for 2.0?

    Thank you!

    This plugin obviously has problems and a lack of support by WordPress. It’s just an entire list of not resolved bugs that have been reported. I’m looking for alternatives.

    Hey you guys, it wont’ let me edit my post above or I would add to it, but upon further review of my config file, it appears to be okay. But what I’m seeing is that when I try to do the conversion, it seems to be created a new username under the database for each conversion attempt. I’m continuing to troubleshoot, but if anyone knows offhand anything that is glaringly stupid, simple or clear that you see that is obvious on what I’m doing wrong, let me know. Thanks so much in advance! :-) I will figure this out if it’s the last thing that I do. ;-)

    Hello.

    Have bbpress installed, have the forums setup.

    I do not want the forums as part of the main page of the site.

    I have a bbpres widget on a secondary page to login into the forum.

    Heres where the problem lies.

    After logging in the user is sent to the welcome or main screen.

    How do I alter this setting?

    Also is there a way to disable the dashboard for users other than admins?

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hey you guys, been away for a bit and was excited to see the phpBB conversion being added to the list of converters. Thank you so much Alex and congratulations on the marriage!

    I have a problem that I haven’t seen anyone mention yet so I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong. I’m trying to run my conversion and I’m getting the “exceeded 75000 questions” and so I was going to have to keep trying to run it every hour to finally get it all converted.

    HOWEVER, I keep getting an odd end result after I get the screen with the error messages that it will then take me to my login page but it’s the 5 minutes wordpress installation option and it asks me for my login info and then it says page not found.

    My forum is at http://www.mywebsite/forum

    My wordpress site is at http://www.mywebsite/blog

    After converstion it will send me to http://www.mywebsite/blog/wp-admin/install.php

    If I put in my old info to the wordpress login it will kick out another list of the conversion errors.

    I’m not sure if I’m having root directory problems or something going on with the conversion. I’ll keep looking but does anyone know immediately off hand what I’ve got going wrong or what it could be?

    It’s weird.

    ETA: I just found that the conversion has changed my wp-config file settings for the database name, dbase username and password. It looks like it puts in some generic settings that you guys have. Here’s what my config says…

    /** The name of the database for WordPress */

    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wrd_kk3k2nhle4’);

    /** MySQL database username */

    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘tsupport’);

    /** MySQL database password */

    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘123456’);

    Should I try to find a certain converter file and change this default setting within that file? The converter must not have taken my settings that I put into the form provided to do the conversion.
