Great base to start off with, I’ve done it like this myself. Too bad I didn’t start with it now, it could’ve saved me a lot of hours x)

Anyway, I have one problem. How do I add the forum descriptions beneath the forum headers? I’ve tried adding the_content() in a few places but no matter what I do the category description shows up.

So under the category and the forums the same description pops up. Any ideas?

    Sincerely,
    Tobias

I’m having the same issue, and I’m wondering if anyone has found a solution. I’ve been browsing these forums (as well as other sites) for a couple of hours and haven’t yet found anything that works.

I’m using WordPress 3.5, BuddyPress 1.6.2, and bbPress 2.2.3. I am using the BuddyPress Default theme.

    Thanks so much!

Thanks actorjml, this wasn’t very clear and there isn’t any explanations about the installation in the codex.

Is this the base of what teamoverpowered was built with to get the hierarchical forums setup?

I’ve been keeping an eye out on #1958 and was curious if this theme solves those issues as I have been trying to replicate a vb style bbPress theme for some time now. As I have 400k topics, I have to be extremely careful on the efficiency of the queries used.

    You need to put the files inside the theme for your site – eg: http://www.example.com/wp-content/themes/your-theme/{the contents of bbPress-starter-theme-epicwebs-master file}

Hmm, or is it possible to display a certain forum(with all the topics within it) within a certain group with a shortcode ???

    With this maybe:

    [bbp-single-forum id-forum id=$forum_id]

and if ?! How can I edit the existing group page to add this short code within it ??

I’ve gone trough some stuff, and it seems that I can post topics within one group, and when I insert ( within the dashborad/forums/all forums page) an existing forum within the group, it does show up on the main index page, but it doesn’t show up within the group ??!

It even states that it has more replies and topics within that same group, but it doesn’t displays them 🙁

IS this somehow possible to accomplish ???

    Hy everyone,

first of all, thank you guys for this awesome forum plugin 🙂 I’ve used it for about few months now, and I hadn’t any problems with it. I use it for my support/forum page on my site.

Here is what I’ve done: I’ve tried to make my own community site, found out about the buddypress plugin, installed it and voila 🙂 it works.

Now here is the thing, is it possible to integrate the same structure of my old existing forum (with all the topics, replies, attachments) into the one group that I created recently ??

I wont it to be, something like – one group has it’s own forum, and if it’s a closed membership group, than you don’t have access to the forum at all.

I have a huge list of topics, and posts, attachments that I would like to integrate into one group, and for the all other groups, I would like to have the same possibility for them too.

Is something like that possible ?? is there a plugin to do this, or an addon for the bbpress/buddypress plugin, maybe ?

I’m sorry if I’ve made a mistake for posting this thread here.

Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

    Regards

When I updated to the latest plugin version today it triggered a fatal error. We were updating because the forums had stopped showing any new posts since Dec. 16 and thought maybe an updated plugin might help. We are still using WordPress version 3.4.2 due to being in the middle of changing servers. My friend has requested that we go back to the previous plugin since at least the forums were showing up, albeit frozen, while she finds a bbPress expert. Problem is, I never had a copy of the bbPress plugin—I downloaded it from the WordPress Plugin site, which now shows only the most recent version. Can anyone tell me where I could find an earlier version of the plugin to download? Also, any thoughts where we can find someone to help us with our ongoing bbPress issues? Thanks very much.

Here is the error, which unfortunately is gibberish to me:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Hi, I tried to install your them but it doesn’t change a thing.
I have put the files in the right folder : wordpress/wp-content/themes/bbPress-starter-theme-epicwebs-master

But nothing changes after that and in the themes windows it says that the theme is corrupted because it lacks the style.css file.

I uploaded a new theme as per the instructions. Now how do I activate it?

I set my user role to Keymaster but I do not see the Admin section, I have version 2.2.3 and I installed bbpress as a plugin (do not have Buddy Press).

Elsewhere I have read that there is an Admin link that appears, but I do not have one or do not know where to look. I have searched the forums, searched Google and it seems its a common issue.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I am trying to install bbpress but after activating it I am getting this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function user_can() in /home/**/**/**/**/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/topics/capabilities.php on line 226

I checked and I have all the requirements. I also tried to search in here before creating this topic but couldn’t find the answer.

    Any ideas?

    I am using bbPress only…

under a users profile, I can see a count of the number of topics and replies but it doesn’t list them. The only way I can see them listed is if I am logged in as admin.

    Please help 🙂

I also had this problem on the old bbpress 1 (stand alone). I thought it was because it wasn’t the latest version. After 40-some large posts, it hangs up and won’t allow me to post anymore.

But last night I set up the lastest with my current forum. I’ve tried two different browsers at two different locations/IP addresses and computers. I get the same thing.

No, I didn’t use the import function, because I wasn’t able to get it to work. I have been manually posting past posts into this bbpress. But it has stopped letting me post. Like…when I make a new entry in the topic and hit post, the entry comes up blank. Like it has deleted all my text.

I am not exactly sure what you are saying here!

Did you use the bbPress Import Tool to import your old phpBB forum into bbPress?

I am so frustrated with bbPress. I wanted to be rid of my phpbb forum…. when I found that wordpress had its own sort forum, I was excited. I loaded it, got it all set up…. I made several posts… over 70 posts for a matter of fact…now I am having a problem.

I am reposting a lot of old logs from the previous phpbb forum onto the bbpress. And I have hit a block to where bbpress will no longer make new posts. I imagine that this is a problem on my mysql/database side…. but I can’t find any info on it and don’t know how to figure it out….as I am still learning databases and such.

I still have over a years worth of logs to load….. but yet it seems as though bbpress or wordpress has hit is limit of what I can post?

Does anyone know what I can do? Is there a setting on wordpress, bbpress or mysql database that can be make to allow me to continue? Or should I just stay with the old phpBB forum that I already have and leave bbpress alone?

I am using bbpress 2.2.3 and wordpress 3.5

I have s2Member running with bbPress 2.2.3 and I am getting the following error when accessing the Users page within the admin:
`Fatal error: Unknown: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in Unknown on line 0`

Version 2.2.2 does not do this on the development server (also running with s2Member).
    Wordpress version 3.4

Excellent, many thanks. And by the way, I hope you agree that part of the search should be opt-out, not -in. Only the old-timers around here are gonna want to dig further back into the archives.
