    No, it’s a known issue with WP and php memory, so I’m not surprised to see it crop up with bb as well.

    Read here:

    http://www.narfstuff.co.uk/2008/03/14/php-memory-and-wordpress/

    http://perishablepress.com/press/2008/02/19/improve-site-performance-by-increasing-php-memory-for-wordpress/

    But seeing as you don’t know how to do that now, I suspect you’ll need to talk to your webhost for help. If you have a good host, they’ll help you out :)

    I have a problem with memory bbPress 1.01 integrated with wordpress 2.84. I can install a limited number of plugin because the register.php bbpress’s become blank. How can I increase the ram in bb-setting?

    Go to your phpmyadmin. Select the name of the database which your wordpress mu is using. Go to Search.

    At the: Word(s) or value(s) to search for (wildcard: “%”) type: dashboard_blog

    Then on the Inside table(s): you have to scroll down and select wp_sitemeta to be inserted in the Search. OK, just click Go.

    You will have the search resources above like this:

    Search results for “dashboard_blog” at least one of the words:

    2 match(es) inside table wp_sitemeta | Browse | Delete

    Click Browse and you will see 2 table. Edit the table name dashboard_blog.

    Whatever you see the meta_value is. I don’t remember exactly (may be ERROR and something) but you don’t need to worry. Just delete all and type 1. Yes, just type the word “1” in the box ONLY.

    Finally, click Go. And log in to you WP. See the result.

    Have a nice day!

    Hey.

    When using forum, suddenly shows an error 500 and takes from a few to dozen minutes. In error log is only

    [error] [client *.*.*.*] File does not exist: /home/accounts_a/****/public_html/forum/gfx, referer: http://www.*******.net/. I try tu change chmod, upload forum again. .htaccess no exist – it does not work. Bbpress version 1.0.2. Is not integrated with WordPress.

    Do you have some ideas?

    I really love bbPress, but still wished some features existed by default. I know it’s doable via plugins, but default features are more cool, you can always turn it off. I really dislike the fact that some of the solutions I have seen on this forum, are related to “integrate your forum with WordPress, and use this plugin and it will work”, no, I don’t like that. bbPress should be able to do stuff on its own, without WordPress.

    I don’t want to install WordPress for the sake of making some things work. I have been a WordPress user for so many years already, but still I refuse to do that. I have managed to convert my forum, which was originally SMF into bbPress (SMF > phpBB > bbPress), that was a lot of work, but I’m really happy I did that.

    bbPress is by default very EMPTY, very very very empty. I was not used to a forum, with so less features and options. My users didn’t like it. I managed to add a lot of features via plugins. Now my users are a bit happy, I’m also very happy.

    The best part I love so far is, that making changes not always is so difficult compared to SMF or phpBB. phpBB is the last forum software on this planet I’d want to use, OMG so difficult to make changes. SMF is one of the best out there, but has some limits due to their copyright system.

    Some things I’d really love to see happening anytime very soon:

    1. A codex page, with detailed instruction about the codes, just like its big brother WordPress has, at least a start, so we, the webmasters, can do more cool stuff

    2. More features by default, such as:

    a. Private message

    b. Avatar upload

    c. Memberlist

    d. Quote option in topics

    e. Smilies

    These are some very basic options.

    I’m sure bbPress will be one of the most professional forum software out there one day, it’s not so far yet, but I see it happen.

    That’s why I’m a proud user of this software.

    WordPress does this.

    If you have cookies and users integrated it is a pretty trivial amount of code required to force logins to occur on either the bbPress login page or the WordPress login page. It’s also possible to redirect the profile editing pages either way. If you want to list author posts from WordPress on the bbPress Profile page I can’t think of any solution for that except customising your theme with direct queries or using WordPress API if you are deep integrating.

    The only way to get bbPress activity listed in WordPress is via “bbPress Live”. It’s currently broken in WP 2.8 due to widget changes there, but I am planning to fix it one of these days. Again, you could also write custom queries to the bbPress tables in your theme.

    There are no plans to do that specifically. It has been floated that launching the bbPress installer from inside the “bbPress Integration” WordPress plugin might be a good way to go.

    Sam Bauers

    We don’t use memcache to store user sessions, user sessions are stored in the browser cookie.

    There is a memcache capable object cache though which is built in to bbPress via BackPress. To enable it (with default memcache settings) all you need to do is add this to your bb-config.php:

    define( 'BB_OBJECT_CACHE_TYPE', 'memcached' );

    Note that this will not work if you are using the memcache object cache in WordPress, and you have WordPress deep integrated into bbPress.

    Some more info: I realized the problem wasn’t with functions.bb-pluggable.php but with bb-post.php. I recently had to fix something in bb-post.php to get rid of a different error message about an undefined call.

    Here are the contents of both files.

    bb-post.php:

    <?php

    require('./bb-load.php');

    bb_auth(‘logged_in’);

    if (

    $throttle_time = bb_get_option( ‘throttle_time’ ) )

    ($bb_current_user->data->last_posted) && time() <

    $bb_current_user->data->last_posted + $throttle_time && !

    bb_current_user_can(‘throttle’) )

    bb_die(__(‘Slow

    down; you move too fast.’));

    if ( !$post_content = trim($_POST

    ) )

    bb_die(__(‘You need to actually submit

    some content!’));

    if ( isset($_POST) && $forum_id = (int)

    $_POST ) {

    if ( !bb_current_user_can(‘write_posts’) )

    Is it possible there’s an extra space at the beginning or end of your config file or in a plugin you’ve installed recently?

    The WordPress podcast themeplayground has even raised this issue, and expressed the wish to see BBpress merge into the WordPress core… or at least become a plugin.

    I’m so frustrated by the lack of true integration that I’m considering switching back to Joomla, and yet there’s a bunch of reasons I love wordpress so that would be a really sad day!

    Joomla is a powerful CMS, has a blog, also has many thousands of plugins, and now has a powerful forum plugin called Agora!

    As a plug-in it is truly integrated, has a growing fanbase in the Joomla world, tries to integrate all the important Joomla social plug-ins while also remaining a complete forum solution itself. AND the developer is truly MANIC in both his development AND in his support of newbies on the forum… I personally think the idea of one developer called “Hazzaa” is a myth and there must be a dozen of these guys all answering to the same name! “Hazzaa” will even log in to your site as admin and check the back-end stuff for you to see what’s gone wrong, and fix it for you! Madness, the guy is going to burn out.

    Topic: Avatar upload plugin

    in forum Plugins
    nataliya1977

    Hello!

    I’m a beginner in web business and now I do my first site. I do it on WordPress MU+ Buddy Press+bbpress.

    To bbpress I decided to install some plugins.

    I installed Avatar upload plugin, read instructions, did all.

    But I bump into a problem.

    On the User’s Profile menu is a tab Avatar. But if I push this tab I go to index page of my forum. There is not a page, where I can upload my avatar.

    How can I resolve this problem?

    Thanks

    Look awesome…! Getting closer of the wordpress.org theme, unity… I like it !

    Hi guys,

    First of all, many thanks for your great work, you’ve made bbpress THE forum for wordpress & as his big brother, you offered infinite customization possibilities to us, users, developers & webdesigners.

    Ok, that’s done, now I can ask my question… ;-)

    I’m using Tinymce, for my users to post, with the advanced theme. The only problem is headings aren’t supported by bbpress. What can I do to change that ?

    Seems I’m just gonna have to wait for updates then. Hopefully they can be updated from inside the adminpanel, and give me a notice just like WordPress does.

    Just edit the bbPress template file where you want the link to appear, with whatever text you want as the anchor.

    If you mean links back to ALL the pages (like your WordPress page navigation shown on bbPress) please indicate that.

    Not sure if that still works but that’s the only plugin I know of.

    And threaded comments are built in to the latest version of WordPress, aren’t they? What does the plugin do?

    @Mooks, the icons that you talk about are not included in the theme those are all plugins.

    Yep, I’d definitely use this theme if it was available. Anyone know where to get it?

    The 0.9 version of bbPress integrates with WordPress 2.7.1.

    Some above have mentioned “less is just less”… and for a non-hacker like myself, I agree. I’d like to see bbpress come “fully loaded”, at LEAST with all the basic features one sees in SMF and phpbb3 all ready to rock and roll “out of the box”.

    FULL integration / merging with WP would be my pick. Then themers would have to work harder developing the bb into their themes for each WP “community portal” (What I’m calling the FULL WP / bbpress / buddypress / bbsync package).

    I’ve also expressed my ‘wish list’ here.

    However, having said that I totally agree with the moderator above who said “So it’s something about the promise of bbPress that’s not yet been realized that gets people frustrated.” WordPress is way cool, and with a *truly* integrated bbpress portal system, it would rock the world and give Drupal and Joomla and SMF and phpbb3 a good run for their money! Imagine a Fantastico install of WP, and then just ticking some boxes and all the bbpress stuff was already there, “fully loaded” with all the options and ready to rock & roll?

    Ahhhh, I’m a suckie Myer’s Briggs ENJF idealist… can’t help myself….

    Yes. I used that. But the plugin have a problem. I can only show 1 youtube video per post. Anyone had the same experience?

    Latest news:

    I made a kind of Latest Featured Articles widget on the front website.

    – I found a very neat CSS/Jquery snippet that i hooked up with the wordpress loop, added a plugin called

    “custom-field-images” so I can add image metatags on my blog posts, and then echoing the url to the featured article widget.

    The result is an image with some transparent hovering div over with headlines and excerpt + a list of the latest blog posts that are powered by Jquery to change the main image and text om click.
